Here in Switzerland, hand-shaking was even more common than in the US. It was expected of everybody. School children would even shake hands with their classmates and teacher before leaving. Covid cancelled most of that, and it’s far less common today than it was.
I still maintain “social distancing”, even in checkout lines. That’s one habit that takes little effort, and offends nobody. I notice a majority of people doing likewise. A few are wearing masks, and nobody even comments on it.

During the Pandemic, the thing I missed most was handshaking. I knew it was over when my doctors started shaking hands again.
