So if you've come to ask for your job back, the answer is yes. Roger: With no cut in pay?! Pembrook: Not that your business skills are flawless. Roger: Ok, ok, a little cut in pay.

All this time, I thought Pembrook was criticizing Roger for thinking he wouldn’t get a cut in pay. It occurs to me today, for the first time, that he was pointing out that Fox just missed an opportunity to snag a substantial raise, and instead played for a pay cut.
