In the Spring of 2022, Polar Bear showed up on the Gaspe’ Peninsula which is on the east coast of Canada just south of the St. Lawrence River. They suspect the bear was on an iceberg and eventually decided to swim in search of land. They are great long distance swimmers. In the States, I’m sure they would have tried to bait the animal in a trap and transfer it back to the Arctic. Not in Canada…..it was shot dead immediately, end of story. Cost to taxpayers…the price of a bullet.
Nanook of the North was a ground breaking cinema verite documentary made in the early 20th century that is a joy to watch and depicts a landscape that is quickly disappearing. However what will be left is eroded, unstable, depleted soil, rocks and scrub bushes not prime real-estate.

…and look how poorly the Inuits have been treated by the USA ever since.
