Peter: Whatcha doing? Jason: Writing a book..."The Secret to Making Lots of Money in a Bad Economy." I figure with everything so lousy and uncertain, books like this will sell like hotcakes. Peter: So what's your method? Jason: I just told you. Peter: "Chapter one: Write a book about how to make money in a bad economy." Jason: If a book has only one chapter, do I need to number it?

There have been cases of people doing things similar to this. They place an ad saying something like “Secret to making money. Send $5.00 to P.O. Box XXX”. All you get is a letter telling you to do the same thing.

runar: Oh. A pyramid scheme. What some say is pretty much what got us all into this mess in the first place.
Yeah, I remember those ads. Good thing my fear overcame my naivete at the time. :)

DeeBerg13: A Spiegel is a planet, of course. Anyone with the slightest literary experience knows that.

“Spiegel” is German for “looking glass”. You can order one from the Spiegel catalogue (or website).
“Speigel” is a last name. I don’t know the translation, but here’s one member of the family:

Slaves of Spiegel is a book by Daniel Pinkwater. The sequel to Fat Men from Space. Look it up if you don’t believe me - you should, anyhow, and then read it, too.

“Der Spiegel” is also a German magazine - it’s either like Life with more news or Newsweek with more pictures.
