Remember when THE shoe to have was a pair of Converse “Chuck Taylor” All-Stars?…they cost around $20 back in the 70’s….and having kids lined up at my house to play PONG!!
My Game Boy Color did not have MP3 storage and in-game playback-it was the cartridge chiptunes or nothing.
In Pokémon, there was no WiFi-we had to physically link our units together to battle and trade.
There was no Assassin or his Creed-Mario’s jumps were impressive enough.
There was not a World of Warcraft, Hyrule was our tromping grounds.
60 frames per second? 3.2 GHz processor? All we needed for speed was Sonic’s red sneakers and Blast Processing.
We had no shame in running across school in pleather sneakers that fastened with Velcro. Bonus points if they lit up when you stepped.
We had enough money to eat at Burger King three times a day to get the one toy that we didn’t have.
Even though they did not compare to the originals, we saw the Star Wars prequels multiple times thanks to generous relatives and tickets off of cereal boxes.
If I were to die tomorrow, I can say I’ve had a good life.

I tell my kids that when I was their age we had no Internet and only five TV channels … they were aghast!
