She should stop treating Ben like a child. While she probably has his best interests at heart, she needs to either leave him be, ask him to help her finish up in the kitchen, or offer to go shopping with him. If he chooses none of those, if he wants to sit in his recliner and watch TV, he’s earned it. They can go shopping together after the game.

A husband who goes out alone? Does not need to have his wife go everywhere (except the men’s room when out) with him? How do I get mine to do this?

There is no “I’m going out” for either of us (except for my embroidery club meeting once a month which was negotiated before he quit his job – he was told that if he wanted to join same – yes, he does embroidery along with all other crafts he does – he would join the chapter in the next county). It is “We are going out.” It even takes both of us to drop off or pick one of our vehicles at our mechanic who is 3 blocks away – whether walking there/home or driving a second vehicle due to bad weather so do not have to walk ditto it takes both of us.
