    Oh God, no, sap in the eyes is never merry. I badly burned both eyes this summer on plant sap.

    We have artificial trees (husband’s family always had same according to him) so no sap.

    I have been on my back under our bigger Christmas tree a number of times when dealing with the lights or otherwise the wiring. (And not for any snide reasons.)

    We have an artificial tree – Originally to avoid all the needles on the carpet. I was disappointed to find artificial needles are almost as bad.

    We would be on the floor under the tree every day, watching the twinkling patterns on the ceiling. Most relaxing. Even if the basement floor was chilly. Sleeping bags worked for that.
