Is the Bucket List the same as the Honey-Do List ?

A bucket list is a list of experiences and/or accomplishments one wants to have during their lifetime. It is somewhat related to a “but” list, which is a list of things that one wants to do “but” they can’t do right now because of time, location, or monetary constraints and/or work or family obligations: “I’d love to learn Arabic because reading and writing ‘backwards’ fascinates me, but I travel too often for work to take a class” ; “I want to learn SCUBA, but there are no instructors within 60 miles” ; “I’d love to try pottery, but classes conflict with work and the kids’ soccer practice.”

Parents, particularly single working mothers, develop long “but” lists. Fortunately, I am shortening the list now that I’m retired. I am closing in on 100 dives and I putter with pottery making pots and fairy houses for a charity. I’ve still got Arabic to work on [and a few others], ‘but’ I’m learning new things and having fun.

The problem with bucket lists, they get older just like we do and some of them become ‘Missions Impossible’.

Aren’t they both dead?

My bucket list is always short, and with achievable items. Next up, learning to make Chicago tavern style pizza.

My bucket sprung a leak long ago.
