I’ve been detoxing for years. It’s not easy due to algorithms (just clicking on one page or site can add 10 to the social media sites), but if you stay on top of it, you really do see a significant drop in such activity. Not overnight, obviously.
I’m very happy with my Facebook friends (and yes, I know many are only “online acquaintances”, and over the last year and for the next four years I have muted many of them, but I like them all), and my comics here at GC and most of the commenters here! I enjoy my social media to the extent I want to.
I’ve never seen the point of arguing with people you will never meet – no matter how pig-headedly wrong they are. Has anyone ever changed another’s mind on an Internet discussion group?
Maybe, but I will pig-headedly insist it is unlikely.

Amazing logic, but not hilarious.

I have FB but rarely use it (except Marketplace). I really don’t see much negativity, maybe because I avoid it?
