Think it was more historic when Lebron played Jabari Smith Jr in August 2023. More shocking to Lebron when Junior told him he played against Jabari’s dad, Jabari Smith Sr (his team Sacramento that is), in Lebron’s first ever NBA game 20 years earlier.
So there is a father/son combination on the same team in the NBA. Seattle did that decades ago when Ken Griffey Jr played with his dad Ken Griffey with the Mariners. BTW, they both happened to be good enough to be in the league.
Plus Ken Griffey Jr, and his father are not toxic to sports like James is to the NBA he is the crybaby of disappointment to the fans of the NBA that stopped watching

I never think that much of anything in sports is important or worth remembering.
Notable exception #1: Jackie Robinson. I’m not sure that he should have been the first in terms of athletic ability, though.
Notable exception #2: Pat Tillman

Who was the regular Black player who said he didn’t know who Jackie Robinson was?
We can name him Sports Jerk of the Year retroactively

Like Gordie Howe and his sons in the WHA/NHL?

Big egos and nepotism. I do hear that peasant James the STOAT* taught him most of his flop techniques, though.

from the way the players act, you’d think every bloop single was historic…
