Charlie Brown approaches Lucy in the hallway and says, "Lucy, I think there's something wrong with your baby brother..."<br> <br> They approach Linus blowing square balloons. Charlie Brown exclaims as Lucy puts her hands to her mouth, "Look...he blows SQUARE balloons!"<br> <br> Lucy looks down at Linus and shouts, "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? What are you trying to do...DISGRACE OUR FAMILY?" she cries, outraged.<br> <br> Linus releases the balloon and it zig-zags around Charlie Brown. Lucy walks away saying, "Oh, the humiliation of it all...we'll probably have to move out of the neighborhood.."<br> <br>

This, IMO, shows how attitudes toward conformity prevailed in that era. Instead of being impressed by and encouraging about a unique talent, Lucy berates Linus for being a disgrace to the family.
