The guy must have no sense of taste…that, or the squid’s skin is REALLY dry.

In response to Dutchboy1 and Gweedo Murray’s comments, I’d like to point out that my wife Fayaway and I, co-curators of the Malibu Lake Branch of The Invisible Library, have added -Good Night Tomb- to our collection. It is indeed delightful bedtime reading!

    The catalogue is located here:

    Curiously,

I think it’s worth noting here that I was looking for a good name for a bedtime story that LIO might be reading, and it was my daughter Lexa who came up with “Good Night, Tomb”. Give credit where credit is due, say I.

What a clever daughter you have. Having long been a fan of Chas. Addams, Edward Gorey, and Gahan Wilson, Lio is one of my favorite comics on this site.

I once saw a TV show which had a fascinating portrayal of an unusual male/female difference. There were six married couples with infants. The parents were blindfolded and required to identify their own child solely by smell. Every mother got it right but no father could. But still, a squid???

Yeah, I love to hang out here with my peeps, or at least to tune in to hear the word on the street. Re: my daughter…my kids all may chime in every now and then on my strips, but none have any desire to follow in my footsteps. Which is probably a good thing, depending on your point of view. LIO will more than likely die with me…that is to say: LIO is a strip with zombies, but will never be a zombie strip.

Hermester Barrington: I followed your link sir, and found myself most heartily facinated. I have bookmarked it for later enjoyment. Eh, oh yes, Mrs. Tubbsbottl says to say, “Just so!” Ultimately we both thank you for this delightful link.

    Dear Fenyugreek Tubbsbottl lll:

Thank you and your Mrs.! I hope that I’m not posting inappropriately by responding. I enjoy the work I do as co-curator, but I will be forever in the debt of Mr. Brian Quinette, who first posted a catalog of this type to the web. He should feel proud of the number of catalogs he inspired!

To return to the topic at hand, however: I enjoy this strip so very much–it is the first strip I read in the morning, without fail. It validates my own belief that the world is full of wonders that most refuse to see; as such, Lio joins his literary ancestors–don Quijote, Baron Munchausen, and Edward Bloom–in my pantheon of dreamers and those who spy the wonderful truth hidden under the daily dross. Doubt not, o demiurge, but persist!

    Good Night Tomb?? I wonder…

In the great cold tomb there was a Skeleton, And a creepy old ghoul, And a painting of–

Good night zombies that bump into walls, good night banshees that shriek in the halls!
