Eldo Disc Golf – I don’t know when you’ll see this but I’m really sorry to hear about your cat. I hope he isn’t in too much pain.

And I also hope you are doing fine now too.

I came back here to see whether Eldo had checked in — I’m worried about him.Has anybody seen him?So glad your little guy is doing better Beviek. It’s amazing what they can get over … I think it’s a good lesson for us, that they don’t know how to dwell on the negative, or worry about yesterday. Been wanting to say….Dunno how you all manage to get to so many strips, including ones I don’t read, and watch so many videos!I have over 40 strips on my page already, and I can’t read all those forums, much less add more, or comment on all of them. Of course if I’d be less wordy I might get farther! But meanwhile…. I thank you all for the great links here…. there’s a treasure trove just in the last few pages!

    Hullo Number Three!

I suppose I’ve missed you — I’ve been in and out today…and not only did you say you were leaving, I know that it’s already midnight there -and getting later, if your Summer Time is starting tonight.

We’ve already had our time change a few weeks ago — we call it Daylight Saving Time. I’m always happy to see it, though farmers and other early risers are generally not.Let me join the ranks of those who are proud of you for donating blood! I was refused years ago, due to exposure to hepatitis…. but that was so long ago, I should ask whether it has a time limit or still matters. You’ve inspired me!And never be embarrassed by fear!

Bravery has nothing to do with having fear, but everything to do with overcoming fear! It’s easy to be “brave” when you’re ignorantly fearless…It’s much more admirable to stand up to what you know might lie ahead. And when you find out it wasn’t so bad, it’s all the sweeter.

And Six — just tell them to log on here and we’ll be your references! LOL…. no, I suppose that’s not a good idea!

Isn’t it sad, that for most of us working folk, it’s true what they say:We get to have either money and no time, or time and no money. And in the last few years, the latter has been the only choice available for too many of us, including me.

ELDO!! So glad you made it!

Please do allow yourself time…. and permission to heal in whatever way works. The damage, unfortunately, can’t disappear overnight. But we’re proud of you here for every step you take!Beviek — Thanks again. And in re missing comics: whenever GoComics has answered a question like that, they use meaningless terms like “content delivery isssues.”I think they just got messed up on their e-mail.Later or tomorrow those strips will post.Probably the latter cos it’s Sunday.Meanwhile they’re on other sites, like Yahoo, Arcamax, the Seattle PI, or the Houston Chronicle — no, that last has no Sundays. Gotta run.I’ll answer everything else later.Oh — but No. 3 — thanks. The crazy thing is I never had hepatitis — my college roommate did, but for 20 years I was told I’d been “exposed” so I haven’t asked since.

Six…LOL…. so it always has to be about YOU does it?Well, you’ll like my upcoming birthday… it’s very six-ish.I’ll have to tell everyone I only did it for YOU.The funny thing, I’ve meant to tell you that my “lucky number” has always been six…. and coincidentally, my old friends have been saying for many years that I’m six at every birthday. They always put six candles on my cake.Does all that mean we’re somehow related???

Ooh thanks for the link, Six. I actually watched the whole episode, even though I’ll probably be scolded cos I haven’t seen any others in FAR more than your avowed 20 years, so that was not in proper sequence.Actually I saw them all out of order the first time too, cos the series was orignally broadcast when I had left home and had no TV. II eventually got one, and saw them all as late-night re-runs.I’d fogotten how amazingly athletic Patrick Magoohan was.And thank you, Beviek…. for the kind words on what is now yesterday’s Brevity and for the birthday wishes! But… I only talked about the birthday as “upcoming”, because I was teasing No. Six about using sixes in everything…I’ve been meaning to mention my many years connection to that number. The actual day isn’t till mid April. And I’m happy your little dog seems literally back on his feet!Glad to see you’re sounding so much better, too, Eldo …. and it sounded like your cat is recuperating well too.Yay!And speaking of getting better…. you get well right now, Number 3.That’s an order!OK, so I have no authority, I know….but you have to do it cos I’m…. hmmm…. what?OK, because you have to do what old people say!

Eldo — thanks for the info…I should have said how athletic Number Six, the character, is, cos I figured he’d had some help with stunts.I was referring to him jumping on top of cabinets and into moving trucks, vanquishing assailants two at a time, climbing cliffs and walking miles…. all after many days at sea with scant food, water or sleep. I’m not following any order yet, cos as I said, the link Six posted was to a later episode, and as of now, it’s the only one I’ve watched in years. I do plan to go back and do it properly!

I hope you are enjoying The Amber Spyglass, Mister Drake. If you end up not liking the book (after reading it) Just blame me as I DID tell you about it or ‘recommend’ it to you.I can’t remember much about it.. Only that the main female character is called Lyra.

I still like your Avatar. It’s very nice. I feel kind of guilty that there were many amazing actors out there (who starred in 40’s and 50’s films and so on) and I’ve never heard of them. That probably sounds silly.

    Take care!

Whoa — haven’t been here for a day and look what happens…. everything!!Once again, I have to go out very soon so a quick run-through as best I can keep it in mind…<br"No 3! Don’t even think about it having bothered me in the least when you thought it was me who had hepatitis. There’s no shame in it — it just didn’t happen to be me.It was going around the University, because that’s what happens in close quarters, with students sharing apartments or rooms, etc.I don’t know what the treatment is now, in fact I think there may be a vaccine… but in those days when you were exposed you got a shot of gamma globulin to boost your basic immunity…. and a wish for good luck.I only mentioned that it WASN’T me cos it seems odd that they said no blood donations for all those years when I never had the disease. It’s so hard to get rid of they take no chances with exposure.Beviek, where do I start? I wanted to say something after your kind remark about my comment on Get Fuzzy…. but I fell asleep over the comics last night.Ended up being up WAY too late, and getting little done. Thanks for reading my stuff on Agnes…. I probably went a bit overboard, but that person can push my buttons.I saw that Number Six remarked that he liked her comments — but Six, you must not read her relentless negativity on that strip, or else it just doesn’t bother you.Day after day she criticises the relationships and motivations of the characters and puts down those of us who disagree…. even after the cartoonist himself tried to explain it to her.

Anyway her contention that people foster children for money really made me see red, because I know some foster parents and child caregivers who give it everything they have.I didn’t want to get personal about people I know… but yes, they take classes here too, but I’m not sure about family members. They used to be allowed to pay a relative less than a stranger, and no classes were required…but I think they’ve changed that since the situations I remember.I do have a relative being paid a small wage by the state for caring for her mother… but when the mother’s social security went up due to the death of her ex spouse, her share of costs went up to where she can no longer afford the care… so her daughter doesn’t get paid now, but still does the work. Aaagh.

BTW when I was 10 every girl in school had a mad crush on Tony Curtis… but by the time I was a teenager, he’d lost his appeal for me.

I always thought Patrick McGoohan was pretty gorgeous, though.Besides, he had a more cerebral appeal… and I’ve always been a sucker for a brilliant mind.I was also in love with Roger Moore as The Saint — but as James Bond…. no.

I have more to say to both of you, but I have to leave.Oh — and Eldo, thanks for writing… I will be replying later to the same place, os I didn’t follow the explanation of another.Just a heads up so you check…. but not yet! Number Three — There is NOTHING weird about it!Lots and lots of people have half siblings…. it’s neither a crime nor a shame… Being aware of a blood relationship is important, not only in case of romance, but for medical reasons… IE organ or tissue matching.

There’s no reason your remark would be banned or, IMHO, needs to be hidden. It’s not like you’re telling us you knowingly have a crush on your brother or something. You’re too hard on yourself!Which reminds me…. hope you’re feeling well now.I have to get ready for an event, so really no time at all for the comics, or for answering all the delightful posts above…(But thank you again, Six!…)I just couldn’t resist a quit effort to allay your discomfort.

Beviek…AFAIK, when you didn’t put a backslash inside the closing brackets, the browser didn’t “know” the text part of the link was finished. It included the whole rest of your comment as part of it…. including the last a in brackets. For instance if I put an italic command right here and leave out the back slash in this one: the italics won’t end till the end of my comment. It doesn’t keep the command from working, it just keeps it from stopping.

Hmmm… my last “i” in brackets was invisible, but not your last “a” in brackets.I think the reason is that the browser displays everything typed inside the “link text”. I’ll have to experiment with that when I didn’t just wake up in my chair. And if any of this makes no sense, it’s because I did just wake up in my chair.x_Tech??

Number Six — you’re “spamming” everywhere!BTW … Did you see the Bobby Darin link I posted for you?I used to watch him on American Bandstand, the incredibly popular television program hosted by Dick Clark. (yeah I’m that old!)He was his early 20’s then, but promoted in the lucrative “teen heartthrob” market.I was a fan as he abandoned what was obviously an uncomfortable effort, and become a cool hipster…but the guy was a chameleon…IMHO a genius who could take on any style or persona.

Hello to all —Number Six…. Meant to say earlier….When are you leaving, do you know?I truly hope you don’t mean you won’t be back here for good, after your move.I know you’ll have other things to focus on for awhile…but we’ll miss you.I remember when you were absent for quite a while, when you were still Herge on the old site… but you did return.Scotland looks so beautiful.I have an English friend who lives outside a fairly remote Scottish village near the coast. Some of the pictures she has sent me look, oddly, quite a bit like my part of California.

And most years my sister and I, whole live very far apart, go to The Scotsman website in December and January to do the Haggis Hunt, which has webcams in various parts of Scotland. Our favorite was Oban but they dropped it. I want to go there! They change locations from year to year, and used to be pretty Edinburgh-centric, but nowadays usually include Buchanan St. and George Square. You can wave at me some day in the cameras! Number Three — I’m sure Six doesn’t mean to pressure you, as the viewing is meant to be for your pleasure, not to prepare you for a test.Perhaps he’s taking care to load up your cupboards, so to speak, for when he’s away and won’t have time to be posting links, or e-mailing them.I said the other day that I haven’t had time to watch most of it, but I consider these pages a treasure trove for later. So, with no authority whatsoever, I will jump in and say “take your time…. and enjoy!” :)

Beviek — I’d read that Doris Day had forbidden the publishing of any photos of her since about 1990.But she had a new album just a year or so ago (!), and with a little Googling I found this, which one site says was taken in 2009…. but I’m not sure, cos she’s getting up there.

Here’s also a link to a PDF of an Article in Carmel Magazine

which has some not-too-old pics.Glad if allowing them means she’s feeling better about herself.

Heck… while I’m at it….Six and whoever wants to see…. here’s The Haggis Hunt! The cams still work when the Hunt isn’t on… and the “information” about the haggis is funny.I’m the only person I know to whom actual haggis sounds tasty.
