I worked at a bank, and there were a number of times when the FBI showed up to escort bank officers to jail for various charges of fraud and embezzlement. This is more common than you think.
I agree Jor-El, I knew a woman named Janice who was caught for embezzlement. she did her time in jail. Now I don’t know what kind of work she does, because I haven’t seen her in six years.
The fact that so many appear to get caught either shows that the banks have good control systems in place or the embezzlerers are really stupid or both.
@kmccall Yes, I am a slave to money. Therefore, I’m a slave to the powers that print and control it. Money is a nothing more than a Promisary Note. It does not represent anything tangible. You must believe in a promise of its value. We all must believe. Its only real value comes from our shared belief in each other. That means, we become willing slaves to each other. A price we are willing to pay in order to live in a functioning society. Dishonest bankers & governments break the chain of belief that holds our monetary system together. They steal our freedom and enslave us further.
Good question, Greenchicken. Perhaps one should remember two of the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition: “War is good for business,” and “Peace is good for business.”

Overheard from a teller at my branch a couple of years ago - “We only had four cases of embezzlement at our branch last year!”

Unfortunately Peter is telling the very literal truth- at least, in many cases.

If any problems appear with the whole banks, transfer your monies to the offshore banks for safes and securities.

Does he just keep the depositers’ money under that rock? That SURE doesn’t seem safe.

D-i-c-e-R: Thomas Jefferson said that “Paper is only the ghost of money.”
Incidentally, Jefferson was opposed to the creation of a national bank.
It was Woodrow Wilson who established the Federal Reserve System. Speaking of the Fed later in his life Wilson said, “I have betrayed my country.”
