In 1984 we were supposed to be battling big brother, and in 2010 we were supposed to be orbiting Jupiter in two spaceships when the planet is turned into a star by ancient alien machines.
Life does seem to be more CAREFUL than art.
It does seem that the world is heading to end more with a whimper than a bang.
I will bet on the world ending with a whimper…..
hmm…
no, I will bet on the world ending with a bang……
darn! just can’t make my mind up where to place my money on the bet as to which way the world will end….
but if I win the bet, then I’ll be on easy street !
The decade began with the $aristos taking power, the disaffected of the world letting us know how they felt about it, a 10 yr war against “them” and finishes with a wall street crash. Is it time for the revolution? Yes…lets be careful out there…Georgie O.
Scary, I was two years old in 1984, we may not have space ships and Jupiter suns and transporters yet in 2010, but we have better comunicaters then Capt. Kirk ever had
Hyponotoad, Captain Kirk had great COMMUNICATORS for 16 years prior to your arrival, and probably 22 years prior to your awareness of communicators. He could communicate across the universe. You can’t even spell it.
My husband was using The Force 5 years before you were born. HAHAHA!

Don’t bet on that, cabrobst. Life isn’t more careful than art, just better timed.

Me too. I used to have an HSB “Let’s Be Careful Out There” mug that was one of my prized possessions when I was 14. Ah, glorious days of youth …

However, we do have Big Brother, Newspeak, Doublethink, and are dangerously close to Thoughtcrime. We are at war with Eurasia.

There was an old, old Peanuts cartoon where Charlie Brown worked out he’d be twenty-one in 1984. Guess he had nothing to worry about!
