I’m conflicted about this strip. On the one hand, I would like to see a lot more intelligence in entertainment. On the other, I like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory more than The Paper Chase.

I take exception to a part of this. The Muppet Show had some of the best writing, dialog and commentary of any program going as it’s contemporary. Of course it was rated “F” for funny, unlike much else on the TV.
LOL the number of screens in the cineplex doubled while the boys were talking. A little side note to the trend of of mega cineplexes with alot of small screeen/theatres

Egads! Adult films that really are “adult” and not just explicitly catering to adolescent fantasies?

They exist. They’re rare, but they exist.
On a related note, I’m going to see Inception in about 12 hours …

You mean “Adult” movies pander to juveniles audiences? And what is “mature” about car crashes and gunfights?

Well, Lew, what is childish about cowboys and indians? History-wise, its pretty adult. Must be some aspects that could be grasped by a child.

Agree with you ses 1066:
The Muppet Show was good. On a different level, so was Fraggle Rock.
But my all-time favorite Muppet is Dominar Rygel the 16th from Farscape.
