Lewreader, it’s precisely because the people who watched that debate on TV could see Nixon appearing not-so-comfortable that Kennedy “won” it.
People who only listened to the audio by radio thought that Nixon, based on his words alone, won it.
Same now as it was then, proven again by a “handsome, articulate, blahblahblah….etc.” White House-occupier who promised us everything and has given us nothing except empty “hope and change” BS rhetoric.
