Good grief. There’d be appeals for years. He wouldn’t actually be executed for decades. In the meantime, his state could outlaw capital punishment (remember, this strip was drawn in the 1980s). Bill the Cat could outlive us all.
Life is all we as humans have. It is a sacred line I feel we should force another human to cross, especially when they haven’t actually killed someone themselves (i. e. this treason trial). I believe killing someone is a most base and horrific violation, and using it as a punishment automatically makes you just as bad as the person you’re punishing.
