But of course, Opus. This is a comic strip, and Spuds’ hiding her Big Reveal in a drunken stupor is comic gold!

Hey, Spuds, you left out Toto in “The Wizard of Oz”. (Her real name was Terry, and she was a movie veteran, having appeared in dozens of movies. But once “The Wizard of Oz” came out, her name was officially changed to Toto.)

The original Benji, a male, whose real name was Higgins. Before Benji, Higgins starred for years in a television series entitled Petticoat Junction. Rin Tin Tin (September 1918 – August 10, 1932) was a male German Shepherd Dog rescued from a World War I battlefield by an American soldier, Lee Duncan, who nicknamed him “Rinty”. In everything I have read about the successor Rin Tin Tin dogs they were all males. Three different cats have played the famed “Morris the Cat.” The original Morris was discovered in 1968 at the Hinsdale Humane Society, a Chicago-area animal shelter, by professional animal handler Bob Martwick. That Morris died in 1978. All cats to play Morris have been rescues and were all males, after all he is a “World’s Most Finicky Orange Tom Cat” and any female would be too small to play that character. Jiggs, a male chimpanzee born about 1929 owned and trained by Tony and Jacqueline Gentry, who originated the role and appeared in the first two Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan films, Tarzan the Ape Man (1932) and Tarzan and His Mate (1934),78 as well as the Tarzan serials Tarzan the Fearless (1933), starring Buster Crabbe. 18 chimps have played the role of Cheetah and all were male except for two.

Repeated usage of Ctrl-+ (hold down the Ctrl key and type + on Windows, use the key instead of the Ctrl key on a Mac) will zoom in on most, if not all, browsers. To return to normal size (in one fell swoop), use Ctrl-0 (zero not the capital letter O).
