I actually worked with Eugene Polley, one of the people who invented the wireless remote. I worked for the Village of Lombard, Illinois, and he served on the Zoning Commission. He had to miss one of the meetings because he was going to the Emmys to receive an award for his role in inventing the remote. (And I do remember pre-remote days, and one of my sets of grandparents did have one of the old wired remotes that had a cable running to the TV.)
