"To the reader: This feature was found not to be in keeping with the national mood of "selective memory" regarding the Reagan presidency, and some of its content may have been altered to make it more fit for public viewing." Huey: Granddad, how do you really feel about Ronald Reagan? Granddad: He was the "Great Communicator." He was a brave leader. He made me proud to be American. Even though I didn't agree with everything he did, I will miss him.

Reagan – a lame joke that became a tragic farce.

One of the network news commentators (I forget which one) snarked about Gerald Ford when he took office: “When we were children, we were taught that any one of us could become President…now, any one of us has.”.We’ve had many such — arguably, most of our Presidents — unremarkable, even mediocre politicians whom the odd fortunes of civics elevated to the White House. (To Ford’s credit, he knew it and was humble about it: “I’m a Ford, not a Lincoln.”) With all due respect to those who think that Reagan was the Second Coming of George Washington, he was simply another example. And like most, he did well enough once in office.

Doc: Tell me, Future Boy, who’s President of the United States in 1985?
Marty: Ronald Reagan.
Doc: Ronald Reagan? The actor? (He rolls his eyes) Ha! Then who’s vice-president, Jerry Lewis? I suppose Jane Wyman is the First Lady?
Marty: Whoa, wait. Doc!
Doc: And Jack Benny is Secretary of the Treasury!
