Being afraid helps the politicians pass laws that destroy our civil liberties in the name of safety. Torture is okay, domestic spying is okay, wiretapping of innocent people is okay, reading your email is okay, indefinite detention without legal recourse is okay, assassination of citizens is okay, strip searches for peaceable assembly is okay, and if CISPA passes, all of your online communications can be legally sifted through by the government “for the children’s sake!”
