I’m about to give engraved presentation watches – one given to my father and one given to my wife’s father – to our sons. But I’ll have to explain how to wind a watch – and when to stop oscillating the stem to avoid overwinding. You feel old when you need to find a jeweler of the same generation to fix a watch. And I bet there are some readers who have no idea what I’m talking about.
