CobraDBlade, that’s not Obama. That’s Dubya’s father with a potbelly.

Mark Russell already used that joke in 1988. He said, “Read my lips, they’re going to raise the old ones.”

I think the character was intended to resemble the late Tip O’Neil when he was created.

The first panel is believable, the second panel would be career suicide for a politician! He’s not a Bush, he bears a resemblance to Teddy and Tip–Tip had a naturally bulbous nose while Teddy’s was from too many good times–just ask Mary Jo!

Hey, how’s this for a third option? Slash government spending and reduce taxes. (A guy can dream, can’t he?)

(Yes, the old pol was originally based on Tip but now Teddy is the closest surviving match. After Ted Kennedy is dead I wonder if the media will forget his sins like they’ve forgotten Michael Jackson’s.)

When taxes get too high, the rich leave.

kim campbell and john turner as prime ministers of canada might fit the bill for sjoujke’s question. i don’t think either of them were in power long enough to table a budget before they had to have an election

Welcome to Obamanomics 101. If they just double the existing taxes it is to show how benevolent he is and that he cares about us.

100 years of income tax and that’s all they’ve learned to do. Raise their pay and raise our taxes.

I agree it started with Tip, and now is Ted. Whoever he is, it looks like they’re ready to throw a Shoe at him.

aerwalt, raising taxes has favored the rich since ‘80. Why would they leave?

We just didn’t read Poppy (HW) Bush’s script. It was “Read my lips; KNOW new taxes!”

And of course the Shrub told us “I’m declaring war on Terra!” We didn’t read his DNA.

    Good luck, all you Terrans!
