tabby Gocomics didn’t explain it to me, so I’m just guessing here. But my guess is that since someone(s) flagged you, they withdrew all of your comments until they could review each one of them. Then when they reviewed them and found you didn’t do anything violating gocomics’ rules, they reinstated you. I did a smaller amount of the same thing you did, and haven’t heard any flack. Of course, my internet went down for a couple hours, so I was late making my rounds, so not as many saw my posts. Obviously, in the future, it would be wise to not post the identical message on every strip, but I don’t think you did anything wrong, other than tick off some people who are easily annoyed.

Marg, if you don’t take it personally, it doesn’t matter so much. EMET is a little set in his ideas, but then so am I. OTOH, my organization has an unparalleled tradition of reflection and understanding our ideas, except maybe for the rabbis. And if it leads to a little more generosity and respect for others ideas, it’s so much the better.

It seems an explanation is in order. RRAmom had it right above - Tabby was made invisible for a couple of hours while I sorted through everything. We received a large amount of emails and flagged comments throughout the morning. Most were from users complaining about Tabby spamming the site, others were from users complaining about other users’ comments about Tabby’s comments on the site. It was a lot to sort through. Based on the reactions (and the reactions to the reactions, and so on), we determined that the best course was to remove Tabby’s comments from most of the pages where they appeared, and to remove the majority of the comments that referenced her comments. (People were getting pretty mean from both sides.) While I would agree with most here that Tabby was just trying to make a harmless gesture, we’ve established a precedent on the site regarding spam (a comment that does not pertain to a comic in any way being posted on a large number of comic pages) and its immediate removal. It’s rare that it happens on the strips, so each case ends up being unique. In the end, in the interest of fairness, the complaints about Tabby’s posts being spam were deemed reasonable and so the comments were removed. While normally something that caused this much of an outcry would have resulted in a ban, I think everyone can agree Tabby didn’t mean to cause trouble, so there won’t be a ban resulting from this. Everything is cool from this end.

I have to apologize for something, though - I meant to leave Tabby’s post up on Cleats and Joe Vanilla, since both creators wished Joy a happy birthday, but an unfixable slip of the mouse on my end permanently removed her post in both cases. The creators’ comments are still there, though.

Tabby, I’m sorry your comments had to be removed, and I hope you can understand why. I hope you’ll keep using the site and interacting with the friends you’ve made here.

And before I forget: Joy, have a happy birthday!

Congrats Marg! It took me two weeks after we moved in, before I had a kitchen sink. (The countertop order got screwed up, so we had to wait on getting that replaced.) I know how important it is to have a working kitchen sink!!

marg Thanks for the compliment, however, it is only a case of making the best out of a bad situation. Sorry I didn’t let you know earlier I’d read your comment. I make a habit at the beginning of each day to go back to the previous day’s BT and read all the comments written after I signed off. (One of the reasons I usually post a “signing off” message - easier to figure out where I had stopped the night before.)

We moved into our house sooner than I really wanted because there was some negative socialization going on with our 4 year old in our old (temporary) neighborhood, and we wanted to get him away from those kids ASAP. Then it became a case of two stubborn people - a husband who is talented, but thinks as long as it works, it doesn’t matter what it looks like. When he was hanging the sheetrock, I kept telling him to make the cracks as small as possible, and he wouldn’t do the extra work to hang it that way. It finally got to the point where I said that if he wasn’t going to hang it right, he would have to do the mudding & taping himself, because he was making more work for that person. So, I didn’t, and being passive-aggressive, neither did he. Therefore, the house got stuck at that stage. After years of counseling, our relationship is better, but the house is only slightly better. I finally had to accept that this house wasn’t going to be my dream house (I was the architect, so had a lot of emotional investment). The only dream house I’ll have will be in heaven. I haven’t thoroughly conquered discontentment, but I’m making progress.

Akenta: There’s plenty of cake left. You have your choice of three different kinds, or take a piece of each!

JFRI has cooked a lovely brisket, and Tabby brought ice cream.

I understand what Liam meant about spam. Next time we wish someone a happy b-day, we’ll limit it to this comic and some of their favorites. That shouldn’t make anyone unhappy.

Thanks, Marg & carmy. Sometimes it helps that we’re both stubborn. Both so stubborn that we refused to give up on the marriage. Since there was no abuse or adultery, I couldn’t justify divorce. Because we had children at that point, I knew that if we split, they would be impacted greatly. I first went to our pastor, who had become a good friend, to ask for advice on how to motivate my hubby to work on the house. He started counseling us. Then he took a different church, and we started counseling with his replacement. Finally, that pastor referred us to a Christian counselor with a Ph.D. in counseling, who was very helpful. I’m better at not being critical, and so our relationship is much more peaceful. Although, I still never learned the secret of how to motivate a male to do what he is supposed to do, but isn’t enthused about doing. (Having the same trouble with getting our college son to do his Trig homework….) If any of you males out there want to let me in on the secret, I’d love to hear it!!

Akenta Yes, I do read Pickles every day. My parents were married for 58 years, and although my Dad was a workaholic, he only worked on the projects he wanted to do, not necessarily the ones Mom wanted done, so I’m not too hopeful I’ll figure that out either. I can see Opal’s point of view most of the time. However, I’m the one who taught my sons how to fold paper airplanes, shoot rubberbands, and I share jokes & cartoons with them, so they know I have a fun side.

Thanks JFri! I’ve always been good at giving my husband “sugar” (wink, wink) which amazed our counselors that we both rated that area of our marriage as 10 (on a 1-10 scale). We might not rate it quite that high now, but that is more because even if we’re willing, our bodies aren’t always up to the challenge. At least that gave us incentive to stay together!
