Hey back atcha Terry/Lonewolf I work M-F 8:30 to 5pm. I’m in customer service, and we end at 5pm, but there is still the ‘wrapping up’, which can take 15-30 minutes. I’m not a young puppy anymore so normal stuff like cooking and cleaning can take longer. I can’t keep up with Big Top during the week. I pop in on the weekends, the waterproof shelter available for the occasional water-balloon fight. But I’m doing ok, seem to be just about over that pesky cough left over from when I was sick a couple of weeks ago. And this is probably TMI, but I tend to ramble anyway.

And a huge goodmorning to the Tribe and a deposit to the Karma Bank.

Morning, Yappy Nuts! My, we all were yappy yesterday, weren’t we? At least it stayed clean enough for my filter, so I’ve just now caught up with the posts on BT. Still have to do my comic laps, and lots of RL stuff today, so I’ll be scarce but might do some “hit & runs.” I’m looking forward to later today. My party in honor of my 50th starts at 4pm. It won’t be a huge crowd, but just enough to have fun. I’ve asked that if they feel like they have to bring something, that it be a gag gift. So I might have some stories to tell later. Well, gotta go wake up hubby, so we can get our work done around here first. (sigh)

‘Morning (((((Tribe)))) Well, Shika, I did try to stay around but my kitchen was screaming at me - it was a mess. I never realized how many are afraid of clowns until I was in Montreal and a friend of our children went ballistic when she saw Bonhomme. He is the big snowman from Carnival. When she was younger she was at a b’day party and they had a clown. She was terrified. She still hates them and she is thirty. Since then I have met many who had the same fear. My kids always loved the clowns and the mascots.

Don’t worry about asking Lonewolf. I don’t know where Dry is, to tell you the truth. I think it’s buries way back in the comments somewhere, but last week I was out a lot in RL and didn’t have time to read all the posts.

Ask Doc or an elder like tabby.

They may not tell though. Dry is pretty private at times. we have to respect that.

Okay, a party report for the tribe. Very low-key, and some of the guests must have had a case of dementia, because they either forgot, or got lost trying to get there. But, my sister & a friend of hers came, and brought me a cane she found in our mom’s pantry, with a bow stuck on it. I had just asked my hubby as we were leaving the house, if he had a cane for me, I may have to start using it, now that I have one. My sis also brought a quilt that our grandma started & mom finished up (years ago) - hand pieced & hand quilted. My BFF & her family came, bearing the cake & balloons with appropriate messages.

(continued) The cards were great, but the funniest was one my sister made. She made a “Customized Booklet for 50+ - Or, Things To Do While You Still Can Remember Your Name”. (That was on the cover with a picture of a rocking chair.) 2nd page: Printout from a “monument” website with grave markers. “Pick out a headstone. Make sure you write down your name & birthday while you still remember it.” Page 3: Printout of a cemetery. “Pick out a cemetery & plot. Suggest you put GPS information in a safe place so you can remember where it is.” Page 4: Picture of a bunch of walkers. “Try out walkers, so when you need one, you can just order it over the phone” Page 5: Picture of a magnifying glass with the words “Take a look…” on it. Written on the page:

Magnifying glasses, by the case Oversized cell phone Oversized house phone Long term care insurance Assisted living facilities Nursing homes Advanced directives Standing script for Aricept This is a reminder to enjoy life now!

Shika - We got the rain you sent up. I do not think that it is going to amount to much, but we also have thunder, something that is somewhat rare west of the mountains, in the Pacific NW. No lightening yet and hope we don’t get any. In this neck of the woods lightening is usually sheet lightning. It is not to often that we see lightening bolts.

RRAMom a fellow beader! I’ve been doing it about 4 years now. Got addicted quickly, I have a 72” x 18” x 48” heavy duty shelf unit with plastic drawers, bins, etc. Beads everywhere! Especially seed beads. Back before my significant other became a casualty of the economy I would cruise eBay looking for mixed lots of stuff people were just dumping. I scored some really good deals…one so good I felt like a thief (paid $96 for stuff that must have been worth $1000 to $1500 retail). It relaxes me. I’m part of a good group, officially on Thursdays, unofficial on Saturdays. It is really great!

Looks like everyone has had a good day.

Your party sounds like fun RRAmom. I love the card. And the cane. Your family has a great sense of humour.

Quaby - I love doing crafts, but I usually only make things I can use. Haven’t had much time to do crafts, but I’ve dabbled in a lot of them. Art was always a fun & easy class for me. Stained glass was probably the craft I did the most of, but once our oldest started crawling, I gave that up. With homeschooling, and building our house, those consume most of my time, and gives me an outlet for my creativity.

Is anyone reading Haiku Ewe? They had a great contest and they had two guest artists drawing the last two weeks while BigAlthegal’s hand heals. Next week a reader will draw for the week. I sent in some panels too. It was fun.

Also, I met Mort Walker the same day I met Lynn.

Thanks Shika! Since my hubby is a couple months younger than I am, I had to promise I would NOT give him a party or embarrass him, just so I could have one myself. (He’s introverted - can you tell??) Back when my Mom turned 50 (Mom’s 85 now, so do the math), my sister & one of her friends made Mom a card along the same lines. Mom still has it somewhere, I remember her moving it, just not real sure where she’s filed it. (And now with Mom’s condition, she’s not sure either. Guess we’ll find it when we clean out her house, if not before.) Our family prefers the humorous cards - it is a family tradition!

Shika - I know my brothers have gotten Mom more sentimental cards in the last few years, but (when they haven’t been around) Mom told me she still preferred the funny ones. Other than ones I send for someone’s death, I think most of the others I give are humorous.

I found out who owns the yacht in my mom’s town on Georgian Bay. It’s Mel Gibson. I don’t know why someone told me it was the creator of King Of the Hill.

There was a time I’d love to see Mel Gibson, but now, I heard some crazy things and I’m not sure. He’s done lots of good work though.

Doc Mua says “meow”. He keeps asking for them to come and play with him.

He’s really friendly, but not too savvy about other cats. He thinks they all want to play with him. That’s what I like about him of course.

Mua doesn’t notice the cat in the mirror. He plays with shadows on the wall.

I do shadow puppets for him that look like a cat. Sometimes he meows at them.

But I make the shadow disappear before he can touch it. sort of like Santa Claus. I don’t want him to be disillusioned. LOL

carmy When I moved in here years ago, I had to sign a notice saying “no pets allowed”. There was the superintendants cat rubbing against my leg when I signed it.

I didn’t get Mua until years afterwards, but I was always sceptical of the policy. I rent too.

carmy I hope someone up there knows what to do with a cougar. I’m afraid that they might cave into public pressure from townsfolk who think nothing of shooting an animal.

But I’m pretty optimistic that someone up there will do the right thing. As I told mom, at least in the cemetary, no one can get hurt. Until they want to visit or have a funeral there.
