How about some delicious “everything” bagels?

And some Birthday Cake for Carmy.

In our family, the only “real” birthday cake was chocolate with home-made icing (also chocolate, quite dark, with a bit of coffee mixed in for flavor). Then the best part of all was the colorful decoration made from sugar/butter mixed with food coloring. The cake wound up as a neon fantasy.

Once again I’m checking in, late as usual , first off, happy birthday to you Carmy, I see that no one has caught that slippery roadrunner, JFri yet.

I just got done finishing part three of my new story over at Pibgorn, and the story is still not done yet. ( This is without a doubt my longest story so far ) But I’m having so much fun with it. If you haven’t read all three parts of it, well then Your missing one heck of a fantasy adventure.

This should be a good day to catch JFri since he cares enough about you to stop and join us, but I don’t want to ruin your day. If you want to be the one to catch him, go for it.

Not a lot of breakfast today - though the birthday cake is yummy. I can add some frozen waffles.

Also made some nuclear coffee ice cream, but went out and got some lead bowls to put them in. Have some vanilla and some maple walnut that can be put on top of the cake. Here’s a small sample of licorice ice cream - sounded good to me, but everyone I mentioned it too, just turned away really quickly.

That’s right Dusty - positive thinking about the invitations to the party. You just keep telling yourself that.

Good morning all, and welcome to the start of another broadcast day. Please stand while we play our anthem…

Once everybody gets here, we have quite a picnic party planned. It looks like rain, but hey, we’re under the BIG TOP so we should be okay, and Rad promised to bring more lawn chairs. Well amongst us all, this is the menu, a nice relish tray with various cheeses, sausages, crackers, olives, and so on, tortilla chips and fresh made guacamole, grilled pork chops and beef fillets with cilantro pesto, shrimp mojo de ajo, posole and cuban black bean soup, chicken chimichangas, corn fritters, llapingachos (potatoes made a special way), arroz con pollo, berries with tequila cream, churros, pomeranate margaritas, sake mojitos, fresh squeezed lemonade, ice tea, Dos Equis beer nice and cold,and anything else anyone wants to contribute. We have been working hard all night getting things prepared!

Sure hope hymenoxis shows up today. He loves to clean, so we’ll have a lot for him to clean when we’re done!

Dry, I have a special piñata that looks amazingly like my husband! I get the first whack!!

Hammy Mirthday, Carmy! Morning, Tribe!

Nobody wants to be first? I popped in several times, last time was about 12:23AM CDST and nobody had yet posted. Strip usually updates about 12:08AM around here. I “ping” the Atomic clock regularly to keep my computer in-sync with UCT.

Easy, JFri… They’re not playing fair and becoming vewy, vewy twicky. I’ve forgone my scoot and have begun ”poiting” for my mode of transportation around these parts.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET CARMY

To add to Dry’s delicious spread I have brought barbacoa burritos, chillaquilles, black beans with sauteed onions and red peppers, tortillas (both flour and corn), rice, fresh corn tamales, Negro Modello and Patron Silver. Plus I have cubes of seedless watermelon, honey dew and cantaloupe.

HEY!! I left all my lawn chairs plus a few nice wooden chaise lounges last time. I did, however , find a forgotten pallet of Lime green, Electric Yellow, and Passion Pink lawn chairs behind Wally World that you can have. I’m embarassed to have them in my back yard.

Holy fruits, I’m going to need a wheelbarrow to bring me home after the picnic.

Dry, you better take a whack before me, after I get a whacking, there won’t be anything left.

Dry - I’ve hung the banners and balloons like you wanted and I hear that it is supposed to clear up at 11AM. The tables are all covered with colorful tablecloths and the portable hot tub has been heated to 100 degrees and the pool has chairs set up for all.

Dry, when I was much younger, we would have huge b-day parties at my grandparents home. The parties were for the grown-ups (grandparents, aunts and uncles). One uncle would bring his accordion and all the adults would sing that song and many other Spanish songs. It was so cool to see that and they sang pretty good too.

Looks like our company is moving into cloud computing….I work on the 43rd floor and looking out the window it’s like we’re in the middle of a cloud this morning…

Dry, I can dig it, lots of wine for an Italian wedding. The parties at my grandparents had mostly beer and some bottles of Bacardi, etc.

Doc, oh yes, it’s a combat zone, but I didn’t start the fire. Actually is this a normal occurrence when they get home from a long voyage. It’s like a battle of who’s the boss now.

It must be around HIGH NOON (Insert western music here) on the East coast, so I’ve brought Small seedless watermelon wedges to be dipped in a mixture of lime juice and tequila with a few liberal dashes of Tabasco added. It is served in a bowl whose rim has been dipped in salt. I’ve made this for summer parties, and evryone loves it. Enjoy! I’ve also made some flan, it’s in the cooler over there.

I’ll have some of those fresh corn tamales, and some arroz con pollo, please. I like the sound of the neon chocolate cake, too!

doctortoon - Yes, I wouldn’t mind being the towel boy for this bunch of beautiful ladies. I however, rarely use a towel after swimming. I usually just air dry.

oh how did i forget to say what food i brought.

i have smothered pototoes and porkchops with carrots in it. and rice on the side. with mixed veggies and cokes (your choice on type) also have fried rice (craving that lately no one told me when you become a god mother you get stupid cravings) grilled chicken and corn on the cob fresh off the gril. dig in and enjoy.

Just now starting to make my rounds for today AND yesterday. The internet was down all day yesterday, and some of this morning. Made it easier to get my work done, but not near as fun! And, just in case you haven’t had sufficient chocolate, a repost from Pibgorn:

ToniAnne’s Hot Cocoa 8 oz. milk (I suppose you could use rice dream, almond milk or soy) 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or broken pieces of and dark chocolate -NEVER MILK!!! heat in microwave till chocolate is melted… I do the same time it takes to heat up a large mug of water for tea. add a dash of cayenne…this is a personal call… how big a dash it. start small, you can always do a bit more next time, but you can’t make it smaller once you’ve dashed! Couple of drops of real vanilla or more. If it tastes ‘flat’ add a few grains of salt. Vary with Cinnamon, or cardamon. or even add a spoon o’ peanutbutter before heating. Use a whisk to blend the chocolate in! Hope that helps you feel reciped, and it’ll go good with Unca’s pancakes!(I put some chopped nuts in mine and a dash of nutmeg)

Dry, Padre Island is by Corpus Christi. It is mostly an undeveloped beach area. South Padre Island is 30 miles from Brownsville and it’s chock full of resorts, hotels, shops, restaurants, etc…

Dry I forgot to say that the Island may have been one Island at one time, but it’s not anymore. Also, when I was a little girl, South Padre Island was not nearly as popular as it is now.

I usually spend my time at Port Aransas, a smaller island near Corpus Christi. The name of the island is Mustang Island, for Google purposes. It advertises itself as “a drinking island with a fishing problem”.
