margueritem: i, too like spinach quiche. (as well as broccoli quiche and mushroom quiche. and i love a good mushroom and cheese omelette with home fries - which i had for breakfast yesterday.) whoever says real men don’t eat quiche is flat out WRONG. Hi tribe. Bed time for me, but i figured i’d take a peek first. I’ll be back in about 6 hours or so, unless i decide to go golfing again.

I seem to have stumbled upon an interesting group of tribesmen (you do call yourselves the Tribe right) in my random wanderings of gocomics, which has made me rather hungry, and brought me to the realization that I forgot my lunch.

In relation to the comic(which I realize is a re-run but it new to me) oh the fun that ensues when pixie stix are present.

I don’t have to work today either, which in fact means that I do not have to water and I did my mowing yesterday. So, I will be scarce today as we are going to a street fair today. This is a good one, with plenty of great artists. My wife and I collect art, both indoor and outdoor whimsical themes.

    ok, i’m looking at creating a football league for us. Got a name and password - now I’m stuck. I’ll take suggestions;

live draft or autopick (or offline) Head to head or Points Only

I think the rest I’m comfortable with. I worry about a live draft since we’re all over the country. And I have no idea which scoring type will be more fun.

It’s easy to find where I live. Just get off the Interstate, head left (well, right if you are coming from the other direction), take the second right, then the fourth left, and go to where the big tree used to be before that storm last year. Left there, then right, and you’re there!

tabby - All this talk about kids with scissors reminded me of something my son did with a pair. My Mom gave him a dollar bill for his birthday. He made confetti out of it. Yes, I taped it together, and turned it into the bank. Looking back, I should have kept it, just for the memories. After that experience, I had to keep scissors under lock & key, because I was afraid he’d start cutting up MY money.

Hi, Lonewolf! bmonk - I wish we had brick or stone exterior! My husband insisted on vinyl siding, but now we don’t believe those commercials that claim “vinyl is final”. The wind has blown off more pieces than I remember, and after the siding has aged a little, it gets brittle. Then a hail storm came, and left big holes in it. My husband decided to use a flame thrower to get rid of a snake up by the (attached) garage, and melted the siding. I wanted stone veneer, but I didn’t win that battle. I figured stone was better than brick, because if a hail storm or something broke a little off, no one would notice.

Even though we’ve lived at the same address for about 14 years, my sons didn’t get their address memorized until they were in high school. With homeschooling, they didn’t need to know it often enough to get it memorized. Whenever they’d take a standardized test, I’d have to make sure they had it in writing with them. I still have to quiz them when I know I won’t be with them to fill out a form that needs it, but at least now I tell them they can look at their DL (or learner’s permit) if they don’t remember.

I have always been a Packer fan since I was 5 years old, back in the day of the great Bart Starr and Vince Lombardi. Become a Dallas Cowboy fan after discovering the class act of Tom Landry and Roger Staubach. Playoffs between those two were tough for me. Dropped the Cowboys like a hot potato when that S O B Jerry Jones fired Landry, esp. the way he did it. Then Brett Favre came on the scene! Hate the Packer mgmt. to be sure, but … . I’ll stick it out and see what happens. Part of me was hoping Brett would come back as a Viking and part of me is glad he’s staying retired. Wouldn’t want my man getting hurt!!

rric Yes that was a spectacular season!

I cried my eyes out at the last game. I wish he would have stayed that year coming up and not gone to the Jets. I think that would have been his GREATEST EXIT, WINNING THE SUPER BOWL! I know they would have!!

Of course we can blame A@@ ho@@@ TT, MM, and MM for that fiasco!!!

She is part of the reason why pibgorn is up to page seven.

I knew that she was getting tired but I thought that she was using that excuse to come here.

It wasn’t really much of a brag, she just wasn’t expecting to see that Pibgorn got up to seven pages so soon, since it usually takes them all week to even get there.

Cut her some slack, she’s just a kid after all, and bragging is what kids like to do. Pibgorn doesn’t want to compete with the Tribe anyways.

johnny You’re right about one out of many. Had a chance to see Dallas play the Eagles one year, and I REALLY wanted to, but thought better of it, for my own safety! A Cowboy fan in the middle of Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia with my BIG mouth at football games, well, I probably wouldn’t have gotten out of there with the very least, bruises or maybe worse!!

@Terry, I know the feeling. And I hear it only gets worse as you grow older:

    STRANGE OLD LADY

A very weird thing has happened. A strange old lady has moved into my house. I have no idea who she is, where she came from, or how she got in. I certainly didn’t invite her. All I know is that one day she wasn’t there, and the next day she was.

She’s very clever. She manages to keep out of sight for the most part, but whenever I pass a mirror, I catch a glimpse of her there, and when I look into a mirror directly to check my appearance, suddenly she’s hogging the whole thing, completely obliterating my gorgeous face and body. It’s very disconcerting.

I’ve tried screaming at her to leave but she just screams back, grimacing horribly. She’s really rather frightening. If she’s going to hang around, the least she could do is offer to pay rent.

But no!!! Every once in a while I do find a couple of dollar bills on the kitchen counter, or some loose change on my bureau or on the floor, but that certainly isn’t enough! In fact, though I don’t like to jump to conclusions … I think she steals money from me regularly.

I go to the ATM and withdraw a hundred dollars, and a few days later, it’s gone! I certainly don’t go through it fast! So I can only conclude that the old lady pilfers it.

You’d think she’d spend some of it on wrinkle cream. God knows, she needs it! And the money isn’t the only thing she’s taking. Food seems to disappear at an alarming rate. Especially the good stuff - ice cream, cookies, candy. I just can’t keep them in the house.

She really has a sweet tooth. She should watch it too, she’s really putting on the pounds. I think she realizes that, and to make herself feel better, I know she is tampering with my scale so I’ll think that I’m gaining weight too.

For an old lady, she’s really quite childish. She also gets into my closets when I’m not home and alters all my clothes. They’re getting tighter every day.

Another thing I wish she’d stop messing with my files and the papers on my desk. I can’t find a thing any more. This is particularly hard to deal with because I’m extremely neat and organized. But she manages to jumble everything up so nothing is where it’s supposed to be.

Furthermore, when I program my VCR to tape something important, she fiddles with it after I leave the room so it records the wrong channel or shuts off completely. She finds innumerable, imaginative ways to irritate me. She gets to my newspapers, magazines and mail before me and blurs all the print. Then she’s done something sinister with the volume controls on my TV, radio, and phone.

Now all I hear are mumbles and whispers. She’s also made my stairs steeper, my vacuum cleaner heavier, all my knobs and faucets hard to turn, and my bed higher and a real challenge to climb into and out of.

Furthermore, she gets to my groceries as soon as I shelve them and applies super glue to the tops of every jar and bottle so they’re just about impossible to open. Is this any way to repay my hospitality? I don’t even get any respite at night. More than once her snoring has awakened me. I don’t know why she can’t do something about that. It’s very unattractive.

As if all this isn’t bad enough, she is no longer confining her malevolence to the house. She’s now found a way to sneak into my car with me and follow me wherever I go. I see her reflection in store windows as I pass, and she’s taken all the fun out of clothes shopping because her penchant for monopolizing mirrors has extended to dressing rooms.

When I try something on, she dons an identical outfit. Which looks ridiculous on her and then stands directly in front of me so I can’t see how great it looks on me.

I thought she couldn’t get any meaner than that, but yesterday she proved me wrong. She had the nerve to come with me when I went to have some passport pictures taken, and she actually stepped in front of the camera just as the shutter clicked. Disaster!

I have never seen such a terrible picture. How can I go abroad now? No customs official is ever going to believe that crone scowling from my passport is me. She’s walking on very thin ice. If she keeps this up, I swear, I’ll put her in a home. On second thought, I shouldn’t be too hasty. First, I think I’ll check with the IRS and see if I can claim her as a dependent.

A man and his wife got home from a social event, and the man looked in the window to see someone peeping at him from the doorway, he ran to the window, and to his surprise the character ran straight at him. He howled grasping his hand in pain as his wife started laughing. “What’s so funny?” he demanded, “and where did that man go?” His wife stopped laughing long enough to say, “I married him, but I can’t figure out why he just punched our mirror?”

Good evening all. Again you are a bunch of Yappy Nuts. I had a lovely day today. Escaped the art fair without spending any money, even though I was mightily tempted by a large piece of yard art. A life size nude woman created exclusively out of aluminum wire. It was a very well done piece at what I considered to be a very reasonable price, but still expensive. We instead dined on Columbia River Sturgeon at a lovely spot overlooking Puget Sound.

Lonewolf - It is. This restaurant started out over 80 years ago as a little seafood shack that was located on one of the most scenic drives in North America. Over the years it started to become a little bit fancier. It now is fancy, yet casual, with a view of the San Juan Islands, that is unbeatable. They also are open all day long so that you don’t have that gap between lunch and dinner, which always seems to be when I get hungry. I LOVE FOOD.

Lonewolf - It is a pretty nice spot and I have a house on a spot that is hard to beat. My wife has turned our house on the lake into a park. She has made our yard our summer home. Even though we live here all year around. We are outside almost all summer long. I was born in the midwest and grew up there. I love going back for visits because I love the big skies and the lack of people. I was born in Manitoba and grew up in North Dakota. ND is a state that has actually lost population. I like that absence of people.

A very disappointing summer in terms of swimming, I have been to lake Michigan once, and the water was frigid. Haven’t done any swimming, though. Nothing to do with the weather, I just don’t have the time. Shika, I rarely find a friendly competition myself, and I get so overly competitive, that I try to avoid the ones that get too serious.

“OTC” a moniker penned by Mr. McEldowney himself for *The Order of The Couch” referres to the Couch of Confusion we all end up on while discussing what the latest plot is doing or where it’s going.

I feel much better now that ladywolf is back on and told me that the matter was resolved and that it was no big deal anymore.

I know that she is my best friend, but sometimes she acts as if she is a big sister to me and tries to be there for me when I screw up.

I’m lucky to have a friend like her.

Friendly competition is easier when there are only two or a few personalities. The more personalities there are the more you have a chance of cliques developing which usually leads to personality conflicts. I love competition but not when I don’t know and can’t see the competition. It’s not pleasant as has been said several times earlier. I’m done with the spoon now.

I posted a comment over at Pibgorn and I would like to post it here also if I may:

*Bmonk is right, our community here at Pibgorn and the OTC is not in a competition with any other community, group, Tribe or Crew to see who can out-post the other. Kalahari remembers when a few members from each side got caught up the competion and then a few others began to take the verbal jousting to a personal level which rather ruined the intended fun.

Each group is unique in its way for topics, style, character, and activities. The Tribe had a birthday party the other day and was festive for 11 pages I think. They have proved their worth. Before the tribe at Big Top, we of the OTC at Pibgorn did well over 700 comments one evening…or was it one weekend. We have nothing we need to prove either.*

Well, I shouldn’t generalize. I get plenty of hugs at church, but I have to wait until Sunday to get them.

At school, I can ask for or give a hug anytime. We all seem to need them.

Except the Professors. LOL I mean they have to get their hugs from their spouses.

I will provide mussels with ginger and garllic, raw oysters, sauteed shrimp with cilantro, garlic and home grown tomatos. We have a spinach salad and a mushroom, pea risotto.

Let’s see… I didn’t make notes, so I hope I remember. This hotel’s connection is as slow as dial-up when it is peak time for the guests to use it! So, I’m going to post, and then get off until tomorrow. If I’m lucky, I can get on during non-peak useage times. doc - the old geezers were talking about coffee they made before you were even born! (1950’S) Dry - I don’t know much about pro football, since my brothers were interested in collegiate. Were the Eagles a team back in the 70’s, or are they a more recent development? My hubby’s from western PA, and his mom is from P-burgh, if I remember correctly, so that’s probably why he knows more about the Steelers. Lonewolf - Thanks for being considerate of my filter! Shika - I think what Lonewolf is referring to as a public forum is that it is open to anyone who wants to read it, but it is monitored with the idea of keeping it family friendly. I could be wrong, but that’s my take. I think my filter won’t allow me to be on actual chatrooms, because they aren’t monitored like this forum. bmonk - I think I’d read that years ago, but now that I’m 50, I’m living it. Especially today when my joints didn’t want to cooperate with me when I wanted to climb up or down. My memory’s slipping too! I think my hearing is okay, I think I just forget to tune in when people are talking, or else it goes right in one ear & out the other. The eyesight isn’t good either - got an appointment in a couple of weeks with a retina specialist. Thanks for the smiles! (Too hard to laugh when it is too close to RL!) Good night, tribe!

RRAMom The Philadelphia Eagles have been around since the beginning of the NFL way back in the day! The Steelers also. The Steelers were orignally in the NFL, then the NFL had so many franchises that they split into the NFC and the AFC. Now PIttsburgh is in the AFC. So many teams, so many good games. Me, are you talking to me, the shy one, the quiet one, the one that never has anything to say. Are you sure you’re talking to me?

Good Night tabby. It’s okay. It’s too late to change anything. I just have to get down to finishing the paper. I don’t know how to write a curriculum. Don’t know why I thought it would be easy.

Do I know this TerryLonewolf character? Sounds like the kind quiet type to me.

Sure doesn’t act like the quiet type. But maybe you know him better than I do. :-)
