I’m on a daily med for migraines, it really works for me. It got to where I was off work 2-3 days every time I had one, and that wasn’t good.
JFri
I love that song by Johnny Horton!
Cleo
Maybe see you at MAR sometime? Hubs and I do the nudist circuit in Colorado. I know… you’ll be the one with the powdery bottom!

More like Dusty should get his behind to the moon!
Goodnight, all.
Today’s breakfast is corned beef hash topped with fried eggs served with potatoes roasted with garlic and rosemary and dusted in sea salt. Texas toast, cantaloupe, honeydew and blackberries are provided along with fresh grated extra sharp cheddar for the corned beef topping, as well as chopped scallions and if you like some heat, red pepper flakes. I have bloody marias, screwdrivers and mimosas for the late night crowd, plus cranberry and grapefruit juice and nuclear coffee for the morning set, unless yo too would like a stiff belt to start the morning.
Cleo I’ll take some scallions on my corned beef, and extra blackberries on the side, please. I’ll save the nuclear coffee for tomorrow morning, I’ll need it! Thank you!
There’s been some talk about duplicate or multiple posters. Just want everyone to know I don’t post under multiple names or pictures.
Okay - going to bed for real now. One of the cats is threatening to walk all over the keyboard if I don’t curl up under the covers and make a nest with my body right… this… second!
cleo thanks for breakfast. JFri good to see you back - we’ve missed you.
I think Dusty should get Jeremy from Zits to drive him far away - he’s gotten lost around the world this week and I think yesterday was in the Midwest.
Good morning tribe. hope you all have a wonderful day today. i was early today im waiting on the guy who rides with me. he should be getting ready to call me. idk though. but i just wanted to pop in and say hi and bye. now im going check my email to see if my teacher replyed. then going call him AGAIN! lol have a great day. peace and love tribe.
Rad - Doing much better than last evening, thank you!
My youngest starts his bowling league today, which means I’ll be gone until evening. (Have to do a lot of other things as well, while I’m in the big city.)
My filter doesn’t like the comments on Adam or Close to Home today, and I’m only up to Garfield. Good thing I can read those strips on a different site.
G’morning, DocT, Rmom, RKnight, Carmy, Cleo, and anyone else I might have missed.
About SOTU: is it possible the new slime is just the old slime under new names? Besides, nothing can be made foolproof, because fools are so ingenious. And never learn.
It’s been made obvious no newcomers will be allowed in this forum, in many sundry and subtle ways. I’ve been more than nice, more than tolerant. This will be my last post (ironic, isn’t it? Just in time for the party, you have something to celebrate). I’m very disappointed. Here’s a group of people that are in dire need of displaying daily public attention between each other to the exclusion of anyone else. It’s something I haven’t encountered anywhere else. How odd, …and sad.
A couple of the “Old Slime” after teh “skimming” affected a new approach at their comments are somewhat more behaved if not reformed. I don’t know for sure, but I think Beguine to be farleft but not playing his signature “Moore bashing” or first post to avoid the negative popularity. I think a few of them have left for good though.
Morning Doc, Bmonk, Cleo, Terry, Rad, RRA, carmy!
Haven’t been to SOTU for a while. I might check it out just to see who the toxic fools are these days.
Hi tribe. It’s raining today so it’s into town we go.
Cleo you mentioned that we are ahead of you with blackberries. Yes, ours are pretty well over now.
RMom I looked at those comments and the comments are very innocuous. This site has the name for oysters and gazpacho and another site mentions the function of the vacuum without using the word vacuum. Ah well.
Ma’at I’m sorry you feel that way. I know I enjoyed your posts but didn’t have time to respond. I hope you do decide to come back. You are not the person to whom they refer but unfortunately you arrived after the the dual personality started their foolishness. That is someone who has insulted posters and never apologized even after being asked by others.
Ma’at - I am sorry that you have felt rebuffed. I for one am sorry if we have made you feel that way. We enjoy having new people come to the Big Top. Unfortunately, lately, some people have come here intent on raising cane and seem jealous that we can have a site where politics and religion are left on the back table. We want to have a fun group and I for one would welcome your return. Sorry for hurting you. We definitely don’t want to exclude any but those who seem to have a problem with people just being friends.
I will have to ask you to remove your post listing my previous ID. The reason I changed it was because someone (a troll) tracked me down with it. If you had been following my posts you would have known that.
I want people to behave well with others, and am willing to call them out on bad behavior if neccessary. If you prefer to call that “insulting” someone, then so be it.
Shame on you.
Ma’at, I would like to apologize too. I do believe you are sincere. You have have been kind to me and have shown concern in regards to my medical situation. I appreciate your thoughtfulness and kind words. Thank you.
Dry - Have you been able to find a situation that fits for your dad? it is always so difficult to be sure that you are doing what’s best. Facilities range from being very good to very bad and it is not always easy to determine which is which. Good luck on your search.
Doc (and all) Thank you, I do accept what you say. I’m not very trustful once bitten, either. I was very frustrated back then, for reasons given above. When someone is not accepted, and another, who has shown themselves to be not so nice over time, is - well, it’s confusing to me. I tried to write it off to many things, but at a point I had enough. I’m very sorry for the way I stated my feelings back then, most times in defense of others who were not treated fairly. Dry and I have something in common - Italians aren’t known for their patience. We all are works in progress, and I’m still progressing.
Inserting my two cents worth (and that’s about what it really is worth), the key to success is to respect other people’s feelings and to have fun with back and forth comments. Big Top is meant to be a forum for fun and getting to know one another. It is not a place for snide cutting remarks or detrimental exchange. What I have liked about being here is that I can truly say that I have made dear friends. What more can anyone want. And, I got that through a comic strip and one that unfortunately is in reruns. I can honestly say that I look forward to each day of being with you guys.
Three things here bother me very much.
1) You did not let on about the change in names when it was suggested about “multiple personalities”. Granted we thought that there were two of you. But changing the name does not change the script of the writer. You can tell after reading several posts if it is the same individual.
2) The things that were said by you under a different name were still said by you. I could post them easily but that’s not my style when I am trying to reach a medium. You state the way you said certain things……some of them were downright cruel and immature( ie urinary test).
3) Dry is not a cruel person. Some of us have seen and been through enough that the wall is hard to break through. And anything that comes from her mouth at this time in her life is OK* with all of us at *BigTop! That cruel comment is a definite apology in need, regardless of what you have to say about #1 & #2.
I am always willing to give others a second (and most times more) chance, but as I stated many weeks ago, it’s not the friendship, but the trust that must be earned once removed.
Ma’at what wasn’t very nice? What I said to Terry?* You have to understand, this group is in touch, and we are friends. Terry was in no way offended by what I said, trust me! Maybe you should chill a little and not jump to conclusions.
Ma’at - It is very easy to enjoy Big Top if you keep in mind that we are all friends and treat each other that way. We do not go to another comic and put each other down. We kid one another and look forward to getting like back. If we inadvertantly say something that offends, we try to make amends, but that really hasn’t been an issue, because we treat one another with respect. If you can see that as something that will make your life just a little more enjoyable, than give it a try, but if just being nice isn’t enough, that’s to bad.
Terry, unfortunately you are correct. I used to stress about what I couldn’t get done. Not any more, I listen to my body now. What good will I be to my family if I wear myself down?
Dry, you didn’t have to fix the boo boo. It was very funny.
The change of ID is for my safety, not to deceive, therefore I didn’t feel the need to advertise it. Not everything is everybody’s business. That is why I’m asking for the posts that have my old ID in them to be deleted.
I have already apologized.
You seem quick to judge who is in need and who isn’t. Would you like to come and ride a while in the wheelchair they say I’ll be getting in my future due to an illness that can’t be cured?
There are private emails and bulletin boards wherein several members here share additional information and opinions. If you share in those, you may feel more of a connection to those people. However, I ask you to play according to the sandbox you’re in. People who aren’t privy to those cannot know these types of intimate details about others, and you shouldn’t scold them for it.
Bad behavior is bad behavior, period. Graceful manners can flow from those even in the worst of times.
Ma’at - Okay you and some of us have had our say. We have all made our points. I, for one, feel it is time to get back to some semblance of enjoying the day.
Ma’at If you are getting a wheel chair, I am sorry. I am truly sorry you are having problems and I hope you believe that.
That said, you want us to stop posting as friends because we may offend someone else who doesn’t understand our friendship? Well, I for one will not deny my friends on here anymore than I would deny my friends or family here in PA. If someone is offended by our unique friendship, that isn’t our problem. .
Ma’at I am WAY to busy to get involved in this but if you want to be part of the tribe, get off your soap box! You say you apologogized. If you did I missed it. But know this, as docT stated rule #1 is play nice, so do that. If you think you can form a wedge between Dry and the Tribe (which appeaers to me to be your agenda)
GIVE IT UP! AIN”T GONNA HAPPEN!
If you don’t like Dry, then don’t talk to her and let it go. As for me letting bygones be bygones, the clock starts now but it all depends on how you go from here with me.
Hiya KeedZ! Terry, I know what you mean about naps. I need one, and should just go take it. Very busy day in RL yesterday, and no time for a nap, and I’m paying for it today.
Ma’at, I am sorry for your illness. I would like to speak more with you about that. If I put my email address that I use only for my gocomics account, will you email me?
I can easily change it if some goofballs start emailing me.
Dry-Fall is in the air here as well. And when summer goes, I feel this empty feeling. I sometimes wish that I lived in a climate that was warmer longer, but then I look at the beauty around me and the feelings diminish considerably.
Dry - We usually don’t get much snow, but last year we did. We were gone for the winter during the last 3 previous winters and from what I hear they were kind of nasty. This winter is supposed to be mild. Let’s put it this way, i will believe it when I see it. Our winter’s have seemed to be more dramatic. For instance, last winter we had very chilly weather and a dumping of snow that piled up. Then, overnight, the temps went up over 50 degrees and snow turned to rain. Our lake rose about five feet and flooded some individuals.
Cleo last winter was fairly mild. the Farmers Almanac says its going to be a VERY BAD winter here, and Accu Weather says it will be very mild. Like you said, whatever, I’ll believe it when I see it.
I just hate those dark dreary winter days and nights. You go to work in the dark, when you leave work, it’s dark! Its deprseeing! But I guess Doc is used to it!
Carmy Yes, I would welcome the offer.
Dry - Thank you for your sympathy. And I’m not saying anything should change, although I felt that what you said to Terry was in part because of what was going on at the moment, and I don’t what to think that anyone should be advised to run from me. Perhaps I misunderstood. I also don’t want anyone to be scolded just because they’re not as familiar about the people and situations here as the regulars. As everyone says, play nice. I have a strong opinion on what constitutes play nice, and my hackles go up quickly if I perceive otherwise. I’m sorry if my misunderstanding has been misdirected at you at times.
JFri wow… you really are Vader. The only wedge I have here is the one I’m going to enjoy with the wine when I get home tonight.
Cleo I’m done, my friend. No more. I’m tired.
We were just discussing this last night. The Almanac can’t go wrong too far by predicting a bad winter. If they’re right, they get kudos for it. If they are wrong, who would be too disappointed?
Ma’at, I merely meant that Terry should run in the other direction so he wouldn’t get involved in the melee that was happening. You must be very touchy if you thought that.
Dry - I don’t think that I could put up with a day where I went to work in the dark and came home in the dark, but fortunately I don’t have to and many people do. I do know that days of gray weather makes me depressed.
Ma’at - I understood what Dry meant immediately. If you stick around long enough you will begin to discover what we are like as individuals. We are all different, but alike in the sense of fun we all share. Our banter is fun and our responses can be wry, humorous jabs that come only when we know the other person will know that the jab is not meant to berate. We all share a sense of fun and delight in the knowledge that we have met others that share the sense of whimsy.
Cleo Yes, you are retired! I could retire based on years on the job, but would have a ways to go to collect SS. Besides, I enjoy my job so much, I would be lost without it!
Dry - Do you have big plans for the weekend? We have a couple of islands that are having studios tours of local artists. That is a possibility. It somewhat depends on the weather which is predicted to be sketchy. I don’t know about PA, but here weather prediction is hard to call a science. The scenario for weather change can vary so much, that the forecast is often wrong. In Texas we could go to accuweather and 15 days in advance they would predict and it was always accurate.
cleo The weather is supposed to be BEAUTIFUL here, but you know where I’ll be most of that time unless somethng changes, which only means further down hill.
Cleo remember the other night I mentioned trying Blue Moon at Applebees? Well I bought a case yesterday but forgot to get oranges for the “twist”. I was going to have one tonight, but does it taste much different without them?Otherwise I’ll have a Coors until I get the oranges. Dumb question, huh?
Dry heh… yeah, thanks for nuttin’! I had lots of ‘splainin’ to do, Lucy, when you told Lonewolf to run. Don’t you know by now that wolves are curious by nature?
Carmy Thanks
JFri I’m not trying to tear anything/one apart. Peace?
Cleo Remember that movie… “Are we having fun now? Is this the fun part?” Afternoon thunderstorms are about to roll in, can’t see the mountain tops anymore from my window.
I have never had a Blue Moon with and orange twist. But yes, I would imagine the orange would add a subtle flavor. Blue Moon makes several styles of beer. For example a Hefenweizen is served with lemon. I do not like that style of beer, but my wife does and she likes the lemon.
It’s been a busy day here. It looks like I don’t have to worry about missing doc’s wake up call again. At least one night where I won’t feel like I let Dry down.
Here’s a deposit into the bank for those that need it.
Still need to finish my comic rounds - all the sites were so slow to load this morning (I’m only up to the I’s)
Cleo this was the lue Moom Belgian White Wheat, which the distributor said is their main line and sometimes thru the year they come out with different brews but only for a short time.
I am getting ready to go to football practice with my son. I have been in and out but after practice I’lkl be back.
Ma’at–Sorry about what you are going through, sincerely I mean that. But that has nothing to do with what you say or do just as my health condition has nothing to do with what I may say or do. As has been said we here stick up for each other no matter what. We don’t take too many chances.
As others have stated, let’s start at square one or as close as possible and have some fun. You’ve been around here enough to know we have fun or else it would not have come to this. You would have just walked away. (virtually speaking. lol)
When’s the party, anyhow?? Heck, if you leave AND come back, is that reason for two parties? LOL
Lonewolf That enough parties for ya?!! I can do it again…
Dry Blue Moon website has several ways to serve that orange slice, depending on preferance and personality. The Slam Dunk is my favorite.
Well Dry it looks like you have got several people interested in a party. I know that I mentioned that I would like to have a party soon. Shall we make it at my house? I always have the makings of a party with alcohol always in stock.
My wife’s daughter just got back from fishing in Alaska and brought salmon home with her. I also have some Columbia River sturgeon. I will bbq both. I supply the salmon and booze and as usual you guys bring whatever mix you wish. I have fresh lettuce and tomatoes from the garden, so I will make a salad. You guys can decide what dish that you would like to contribute. I have put wood in both the fire pit and chiminea.
Ma’at - Are you male of female? I guess just because of the name that sounds like Matt, i assumed you were a male, but Ma makes me think that I was perhaps wrong.
Hi Cleo - female, feeling old as dirt today
Ma’at is one of the oldest Egyptian goddesses, and is the personification of the Egyptian concepts of truth and justice. My husband and I are researching the 42 commandments that helped rule Egyptian society, and the thought that the Christian commandments have been based on these. As a person I fall short of the 42, but have them up in my office to help improve myself daily.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ma’at
Carmy - Sorry, I missed your comment. No, halibut cheeks are the meat located up in the head. They aren’t usually saved because it is to time consuming, but it is very tender and tasty.http://www.fishex.com/seafood/halibut/halibut.html
Hi everyone. Ijust stopped in for a moment to see who was here and found FIVE pages to go through. I can’t keep up.
Did someone mention a party? I have been very busy the last couple of weeks with my son visiting and haven’t really had time to do much more that skim through. Miss me?
As I was about to say before I got sidetracked, I can bring a big bowl of scalloped potatoes with onion and cheese. Also, several wedges of different types of cheese.
Cleo My husband cooked for our first date, and greeted me at the door wearing a “David” apron. When he turned around I saw the rest of the story. Very cheeky, indeed!
MoPar subtle reminder? ROFLMAO. Certain people know my birthday, let’s see if they remember! :-D Of course, the older I get, I would just as soon FORGET!!!
Ma’at - I cooked for one of my first date’s with my wife. Earlier in the day we had gone skinny dipping in a mountain stream.
MoPar - Nice to see you. I unfortunately will be gone for 3 weeks during your birthday, but I am sure that this motley crew will more than make up for my absence. Just be sure to have a drink for me every time you believe my glass would be empty. If you do that, you won’t remember who was at your party and who wasn’t.
Happy Birthday MoPar. Yes I know it is way too early but I won’t remember the date. We should have a calendar posted with everyone’s birthdays listed. I can’t be the only one who can’t remember. Am I? Really?
I would like to go outside more now that the weather has decided to stay warm and sunny for awhile. But we had quite alot of rain a couple of weeks ago. Then the weather turned hot and we are buried under clouds of mosquitos. I have to use bug spray at work just to keep from being driven mad. Looking out the window at night is like looking into a snowstorm. I reminds of some of those movies where the rats. snakes, spiders, bats or whatever takes over the whole country. Maybe they are the first troops of Doc Ts rodent revolution?
Thanks Cleo. I missed chatting with everyone too.
((((((((HUGS)))))))))) to all Yappy Nuts old and new.
Hi SerenaDryMoPar !
Going home, so I’ll be offline for awhile. That wine and cheese is calling to me. I’m leaving more fresh strawberries from the garden on the table for everyone to enjoy tonight with their various beverages. Have a good night if I don’t see all ya’ll later!
Ma’at, see how hard it is to tell what someone is up to without cues like tone of voice and body language, or at least emoticons? I’m sorry I ever doubted you, if you will accept my apology…
Dry I only picked a few people for my team - a couple qbs I wanted, the defense I wanted and a couple of other names I liked. Letting Yahoo do the rest for me.
Dry don’t worry about the rules. Under League, there is a “Scoring & Settings” Section to explain some of it. Johnny got me to change some of it, but no has said anything since. The list of positions are down the page.
Akenta Thanks my friend! I’ll check that out, hopefully I’ll have time tonight. If not, I’lll take my chances!
And in RL football, Minnesota will rock, (I HOPE!) And yes, I’m still a Packer, except tor THE games. If you saw my post last night, you know where I’m coming from! LOL!
Looks like I missed a busy day here today! I’m just NOW getting caught up on all the BT posts, and still doing my comic rounds.
Hectic day today. I think I need Mopar’s advice about my Caravan. It did something really weird - all the gauges on the dash went to the zero mark, and the radio went dead. Thank goodness the engine kept running! The dash stuff (but not the radio - it stayed off) would come back on for a little while, then go off again for a while. Even did it once when it was sitting still. After 30 minutes or so of this erratic behavior, it healed itself. The radio came back on, and the gauges worked fine the rest of the day. Spooky!
Mopar - It was dry today. I called my hubby who is pretty mechanical when it first happened. He suspects a loose ground wire somewhere. He thought it might be going off/on when I hit bumps too, but from what I witnessed, it didn’t seem like it. The top tier of the dash lights where the turn signal shows still worked, and the ABS light would come on.
Mopar - I wish I could bring it to you!!
I understood some of your explanation. We replaced the battery within the last year, but I don’t think we’ve replaced the alternator. (We bought it used several years ago.) I did notice that the engine sounded quieter when it was idling when it was during its weird phase, and was back to its normal sound after it had healed.
I’m going to drop off a load of stuff. We went shopping yesterday when I was hungry, and now we have three 1/2 gallons of ice cream, and three bags of potato chips, not to mention pistachio nuts and *10* dark chocolate Lindt bars because they were 10 for $1, and you can’t pass up a deal like that! What were we thinking?
We just finished dinner, always much too late for a virtual party, so count thes as late night snacks.
Marg food in any form, I’ll eat! I need something in my stomach! I’ll have some ice cream and chips! They go well together! But I can’t eat the pistachios!
Marg - What flavor of ice cream, may I ask? Although right now, potato chips sound better. Believe it or not, but my doctor tells me to eat MORE salt! (Of course, he wouldn’t approve of the fat content in potato chips, but oh well!)
this is just to good not to share with you.
is this what im getting myself into? lol
Parent Teacher Conference Should Be Hilarious
Dear Mrs. X:
In just over a week, you will be my son’s Grade 1 teacher. He is ever so excited to be under your tutelage. Why, since the last day of kindergarten, entering your class was all he could talk about. He gleefully thrust a piece of paper into my hand on that June afternoon, and said, “Here’s a list of the stuff I need for school next September!”
And I have to admit, I, too, was excited. I’m a school supplies geek from way back. And so, in early August, I set out to buy the items you’d listed.
It was on my fourth store that the realization began to sink in.
You’re a crafty bleeep, aren’t you?
This list was a thinly disguised test. Could I find the items, exactly as you’d prescribed? Because if not, my son would be That Kid, the one with the Problem Mother, Who Can’t Follow Directions.
For example, the glue sticks you requested. In the 40 gram size. Three of the little buggers. (What kind of massive, sticky project you’ve got planned for the first day of school that would require the students to bring all this glue, I cannot imagine.) But the 40 gram size doesn’t come in a convenient 3-pack. The /30 /gram size does. But clearly, those would be wildly inappropriate. So I got the individually priced 40’s, as per your instructions.
Another bit of fun was your request for 2 packs of 8 Crayola crayons (basic colors). The 24 packs, with their 24 /different /colors, sat there, on sale. I could have purchased /three/ of the 24 packs for the price I had to pay for the 8 packs. (Clearly, you’ll not be teaching the youngsters any sort of economics lessons this year.) Even the cashier looked at me, as if to say, “Pardon me, ma’am, but are you slow?” as I purchased these non-bargain crayons. But that’s what the list said. And I was committed to following the list.
But the last item, well, now, you saved your malice up for that one, didn’t you? “8 mm ruled notebooks”, you asked for. Simple enough. Except the standard size is /seven /millimetres. One. Millimetre. Difference. Do you realize, Mrs. X., exactly how infinitesimal the difference between 7 mm ruling and 8 mm ruling is? Pretty small, I assure you. The thickness of a fingernail, approximately. But that millimetre, that small bit of nothingness, made me drive to four different stores, over the course of three sweaty August hours. And when I finally, finally found the last remaining 8 mm notebooks, I took no pleasure in my victory. I merely shifted my focus. To you, Mrs. X.
You wanna dance, lady? Let’s dance.
Because I am just batshit crazy enough to play your games. And, in turn, come up with some of my own.
On show and share day, my son will be bringing the video of his birth. It will be labelled, “Ben’s First Puppy.” Enjoy.
He will be given a list of words, and daily, he will ask you what they mean. Words such as, “pedophile”, “anti-semite”, and “skank”. Good luck with those.
At some point, you will attempt to teach him mathematics. And I’m quite sure that, like most of your ilk, you will require my son to “show his work”. And he will.
Through interpretive dance.
Because that is who you’ve chosen to tangle with, toots. A stay at home mom who is not entirely balanced, and has altogether too much time on her hands. But is, most certainly, A Mother Who Can Follow Directions.
RRAmom–I noticed your post about the automobile troubles. I agree with your husband. It does sound like a loose or poor ground if it is a late model vehicle. The computers on late models need the grounds to be good now more than ever. Very common in our shop nowadays!
Mopar - Thanks so much for the advice! My hubby’s work has been extremely hectic (12-14 hour days!) and so it is hard for him to open the “van repair” “file drawer”. (One of the marriage conferences we went to, a guy told the group that men are like filing cabinets, they can only think about one, maybe two, subjects at a time. If they try to do more, they’ll tip over like a filing cabinet with all the drawers open.)
I’ll share your advice with my hubby, so when he gets home, he’ll have some idea where to start looking. I’m thinking it might be the easiest to take the alternator off, and take it to a parts store to see if it is okay. Would that be a good idea?
Lonewolf - It is hardly a late model, unless you are using “late” to refer to “deceased”, and it isn’t quite there - yet.
It is a 1998, with over 200,000 miles.
Mopar - I have to admit, pouring doc’s coffee on it does sound like a tempting idea. I’ve heard of pouring Coke on corroded battery cables, maybe coffee could fix whatever’s ailing it?
I agree, tabby! It was a funny tale!
I have to admit, even though I love buying office/school supplies, I am SO glad I never had to buy them according to a long list. When our kids took some co-op classes with other homeschoolers, I would occasionally be requested to bring some supplies, but they were usually quite flexible about the details. I do always try to browse the Wal-Mart aisles as soon as they put out the school supplies, because sometimes I find some nifty stuff they don’t carry throughout the year. But I stay out of the department once the rush hits!
Dry - We had sockeye salmon with a ginger red onion relish and orange glaze, rice and romano beans sauteed with oregano and garden tomatoes. You are welcome to the leftovers my dear.
Terry I like some country, but not much! I like rock, soul, blues, jazz, some classical, etc. anything but the twangy country hillbilly stuff! You should know by now if you keep up on the posts and our rock fests!!! Which I KNOW you DO! But I do LOVE Charlie Daniels! But then, he isn’t really COUNTRY! Rock and country I guess!
Hi everybody! I have decided to come back. During the time I was gone I did a lot of thinking, and got involved in helping people. and cheering other people up as well. I did this while fighting off the troll that resides in me. I’m not mad anymore. I have learned that cooler heads prevail. I also learned that rational thinking is best to do before taking action. My dad told me that for every action I take, there is an equal reaction. Depending on the action itself the reaction will either be good or bad. I understand this now. So can I be apart of the Tribe again?
terry Joe it’s so! Remember that song “Ain’t We the Lucky Ones?” I was hoping MoPar would be here to get it cranked up to get OUR party started, and I can’t find it!
I’m not as trusting as you may want to believe. From my standpoint I am upset at what has been said to me and how I have been singled out through posts by you and the others. Again the longer post above is all about you(this has been said before recently). This is not about you alone. If I ever want to change my opinion or attitude towards you or anyone else that is my choice. I read your stories, like most of them, but that is as far as it goes right now. If you have grown than you can understand that. You do have an imagination and do relay it well to words. This is not to hurt you but a choice I wish to make and am free to do.
Ladywolf, since you have an account with gocomics, you can post your comments anywhere you wish, HOWEVER, we that have accounts also have rights too. No one has to comment to anyone on any comic that they do not wish to comment to.
You and your alter egos have made many problems with people coming over here on BT telling us how we should comment, insulting us, etc. No one has the right to force anyone to do something that they do not want to do.
Terry I know the mean and unfair things that have been said about you, and others of our friends here, including myself. It seems to upset some people around here that we TRULY have become friends. It’s hard to imagine for some I suppose, but who cares what the others think of us. As one of our tribe says, it’s not our business what other people think of us. WE KNOW who we are! AND WE ARE FRIENDS.
The people that post here have gotten to know each other over a period of time, and are honest with, and trust each other. I personally don’t like prevarication, and tend not to trust those that indulge in it. That’s my choice. Anyone is free to post wherever he/she wishes.
I want to get to know you all. I’m tired of the way I was acting. I want everyone to see the real me for who I am, and not as some spoiled rotten kid that has to have her way.
(Oh lord… I just had to pick this moment to peek in. Is my life cursed or blessed?)
Ladywolf I put everyone through the wringer today regarding much the same thing, so maybe you’ll understand if they don’t respond to you right now, okay? I think everyone’s just plain tuckered out.
LW* I think you should just let things lie. Take *Ma’s advice and don’t say anything more tonight. An occasional post about something that has been said in the comments or in the ‘toon will be accepted over time. Don’t try to rush it and and DO NOT constantly talk about yourself without thinking of others. It will turn everyone off. I feel this is generally good advice for life. Hope you take it.
I think that’s good advice Dawn. Ladywolf and ((everyone)), it’s 1130pm here. I need a good night’s rest or I can’t function in the morning, so good night all, and see you in the funny papers.

I have bloody marias, screwdrivers and mimosas for the late night crowd, plus cranberry and grapefruit juice and nuclear coffee for the morning set, unless yo too would like a stiff belt to start the morning.
dpetrill about 15 years ago
Cleo I’ll take some scallions on my corned beef, and extra blackberries on the side, please. I’ll save the nuclear coffee for tomorrow morning, I’ll need it! Thank you!

Rad - Doing much better than last evening, thank you! My youngest starts his bowling league today, which means I’ll be gone until evening. (Have to do a lot of other things as well, while I’m in the big city.) My filter doesn’t like the comments on Adam or Close to Home today, and I’m only up to Garfield.

And never learn.
dpetrill about 15 years ago
It’s been made obvious no newcomers will be allowed in this forum, in many sundry and subtle ways. I’ve been more than nice, more than tolerant. This will be my last post (ironic, isn’t it? Just in time for the party, you have something to celebrate). I’m very disappointed. Here’s a group of people that are in dire need of displaying daily public attention between each other to the exclusion of anyone else. It’s something I haven’t encountered anywhere else. How odd, …and sad.
Good night, TRIBE
Radical-Knight about 15 years ago
A couple of the “Old Slime” after teh “skimming” affected a new approach at their comments are somewhat more behaved if not reformed. I don’t know for sure, but I think Beguine to be farleft but not playing his signature “Moore bashing” or first post to avoid the negative popularity. I think a few of them have left for good though.

Ma’at - I am sorry that you have felt rebuffed. I for one am sorry if we have made you feel that way. We enjoy having new people come to the Big Top. dpetrill about 15 years ago

(((Dry)))dpetrill about 15 years ago
Doc (and all) Thank you, I do accept what you say. I’m not very trustful once bitten, either. I was very frustrated back then, for reasons given above. When someone is not accepted, and another, who has shown themselves to be not so nice over time, is - well, it’s confusing to me. I tried to write it off to many things, but at a point I had enough. I’m very sorry for the way I stated my feelings back then, most times in defense of others who were not treated fairly. Dry and I have something in common - Italians aren’t known for their patience. We all are works in progress, and I’m still progressing.

cleokaya about 15 years ago
Inserting my two cents worth (and that’s about what it really is worth), the key to success is to respect other people’s feelings and to have fun with back and forth comments. Big Top is meant to be a forum for fun and getting to know one another. It is not a place for snide cutting remarks or detrimental exchange. What I have liked about being here is that I can truly say that I have made dear friends. What more can anyone want. And, I got that through a comic strip and one that unfortunately is in reruns. I can honestly say that I look forward to each day of being with you guys.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Ma”at
Three things here bother me very much. And anything that comes from her mouth at this time in her life is OK* with all of us at *Big Top! That cruel comment is a definite apology in need, regardless of what you have to say about #1 & #2.
I am always willing to give others a second (and most times more) chance, but as I stated many weeks ago, it’s not the friendship, but the trust that must be earned once removed.
Excuse the long rant. Your move.
Sincerely, TerryLonewolf
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Ma’at what wasn’t very nice? What I said to Terry?* You have to understand, this group is in touch, and we are friends. Terry was in no way offended by what I said, trust me! Maybe you should chill a little and not jump to conclusions.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Thank you Terry and cleo! You know my feelings for you guys are mutual!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Ma’at - It is very easy to enjoy Big Top if you keep in mind that we are all friends and treat each other that way. We do not go to another comic and put each other down. We kid one another and look forward to getting like back. If we inadvertantly say something that offends, we try to make amends, but that really hasn’t been an issue, because we treat one another with respect. If you can see that as something that will make your life just a little more enjoyable, than give it a try, but if just being nice isn’t enough, that’s to bad.

Graceful manners can flow from those even in the worst of times.Digital Frog about 15 years ago

Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Ma’at If you are getting a wheel chair, I am sorry. I am truly sorry you are having problems and I hope you believe that.
That said, you want us to stop posting as friends because we may offend someone else who doesn’t understand our friendship? Well, I for one will not deny my friends on here anymore than I would deny my friends or family here in PA. If someone is offended by our unique friendship, that isn’t our problem. .

Hello, dr. toons step daughter. How are you?
cleokaya about 15 years ago

But I guess Doc is used to it!
dpetrill about 15 years ago
No more. I’m tired.
bmonk about 15 years ago
We were just discussing this last night. The Almanac can’t go wrong too far by predicting a bad winter. If they’re right, they get kudos for it. If they are wrong, who would be too disappointed?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Ma’at, I merely meant that Terry should run in the other direction so he wouldn’t get involved in the melee that was happening. You must be very touchy if you thought that.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Dry - I don’t think that I could put up with a day where I went to work in the dark and came home in the dark, but fortunately I don’t have to and many people do. I do know that days of gray weather makes me depressed.

cleokaya about 15 years ago
Ma’at - I understood what Dry meant immediately. If you stick around long enough you will begin to discover what we are like as individuals. We are all different, but alike in the sense of fun we all share. Our banter is fun and our responses can be wry, humorous jabs that come only when we know the other person will know that the jab is not meant to berate. We all share a sense of fun and delight in the knowledge that we have met others that share the sense of whimsy.

Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
cleo The weather is supposed to be BEAUTIFUL here, but you know where I’ll be most of that time unless somethng changes, which only means further down hill.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
cleo you still there? I have a question!
carmy about 15 years ago
Where’s the evening crew? Too early?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago

cleokaya about 15 years ago
Dry - I am here. I am trying to sneak out every time a ray of sunshine pops from behind a cloud.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Cleo remember the other night I mentioned trying Blue Moon at Applebees? Well I bought a case yesterday but forgot to get oranges for the “twist”. I was going to have one tonight, but does it taste much different without them?Otherwise I’ll have a Coors until I get the oranges. Dumb question, huh?
dpetrill about 15 years ago
Dry heh… yeah, thanks for nuttin’! I had lots of ‘splainin’ to do, Lucy, when you told Lonewolf to run. Don’t you know by now that wolves are curious by nature? Carmy Thanks JFri I’m not trying to tear anything/one apart. Peace? Cleo Remember that movie… “Are we having fun now? Is this the fun part?” Afternoon thunderstorms are about to roll in, can’t see the mountain tops anymore from my window.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I have never had a Blue Moon with and orange twist. But yes, I would imagine the orange would add a subtle flavor. Blue Moon makes several styles of beer. For example a Hefenweizen is served with lemon. I do not like that style of beer, but my wife does and she likes the lemon.
Akenta about 15 years ago
It’s been a busy day here. It looks like I don’t have to worry about missing doc’s wake up call again. At least one night where I won’t feel like I let Dry down.
Here’s a deposit into the bank for those that need it.
Still need to finish my comic rounds - all the sites were so slow to load this morning (I’m only up to the I’s)
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Cleo this was the lue Moom Belgian White Wheat, which the distributor said is their main line and sometimes thru the year they come out with different brews but only for a short time.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
LOL
dpetrill about 15 years ago
IN OUT IN OUT IN OU…
Lonewolf That enough parties for ya?!! I can do it again… Dry Blue Moon website has several ways to serve that orange slice, depending on preferance and personality. The Slam Dunk is my favorite.
carmy about 15 years ago
I’m in and out too. We’re making enchiladas. YUM!
cleokaya about 15 years ago

ma’at you should come back IN if you’re going to give us all these parties. (I know you didn’t go completely OUT last time, but still come IN)
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Well Dry it looks like you have got several people interested in a party. I know that I mentioned that I would like to have a party soon. Shall we make it at my house? I always have the makings of a party with alcohol always in stock.

My wife’s daughter just got back from fishing in Alaska and brought salmon home with her. I also have some Columbia River sturgeon. I will bbq both. I supply the salmon and booze and as usual you guys bring whatever mix you wish. I have fresh lettuce and tomatoes from the garden, so I will make a salad. You guys can decide what dish that you would like to contribute. I have put wood in both the fire pit and chiminea.

cleokaya about 15 years ago
Ma’at - Are you male of female? I guess just because of the name that sounds like Matt, i assumed you were a male, but Ma makes me think that I was perhaps wrong.
cleokaya about 15 years ago

dpetrill about 15 years ago
Hi Cleo - female, feeling old as dirt today Ma’at is one of the oldest Egyptian goddesses, and is the personification of the Egyptian concepts of truth and justice. My husband and I are researching the 42 commandments that helped rule Egyptian society, and the thought that the Christian commandments have been based on these. As a person I fall short of the 42, but have them up in my office to help improve myself daily. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ma’at

cleo, halibut cheeks? Is that a funny?
Hi Akenta! you say sake, like we say sake. Or was it arigato?
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Akenta - You are always adding a little spice into our lives.
Akenta about 15 years ago
cleo heated please, but make sure you don’t burn yourself. If I can’t add spice, then all I can do is destroy doc’s property.

carmy about 15 years ago
Ma, thanks. Cleo is definitely cheeky! BBL!
cleokaya about 15 years ago

Also, several wedges of different types of cheese.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
serena - Nice to see you. I was commenting on your absence last night. Your contribution to the party is perfect.
Akenta about 15 years ago
Hi Serena and MoPar
MoPar since your bday is on a Monday, ok if the party starts the weekend before?
dpetrill about 15 years ago
Cleo My husband cooked for our first date, and greeted me at the door wearing a “David” apron. When he turned around I saw the rest of the story. Very cheeky, indeed!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
MoPar subtle reminder? ROFLMAO. Certain people know my birthday, let’s see if they remember! :-D Of course, the older I get, I would just as soon FORGET!!!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Ma who is David on the apron?
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Ma’at - I cooked for one of my first date’s with my wife. Earlier in the day we had gone skinny dipping in a mountain stream.
MoPar - Nice to see you. I unfortunately will be gone for 3 weeks during your birthday, but I am sure that this motley crew will more than make up for my absence. Just be sure to have a drink for me every time you believe my glass would be empty. If you do that, you won’t remember who was at your party and who wasn’t.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Dry - Michelangelo’s David. You know the striking nude chap.
serenasakitty about 15 years ago

Akenta* thanks for the tip! I did read, I can pick as many as I want? Is there a limit to the number of total players or total positions?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Akenta In between here and answering the phone from friends and family members, I am trying to read the rules, but it seems to be a lost cause!
Akenta about 15 years ago
Dry don’t worry about the rules. Under League, there is a “Scoring & Settings” Section to explain some of it. Johnny got me to change some of it, but no has said anything since. The list of positions are down the page.

Spooky!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
RRAMom ever see the movie “Poltergeist?”
cleokaya about 15 years ago
My cheeks are about to plant themselves in front of the dinner table. The old party never really took off. To much spent emotion today possibly.
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
No, Dry. But I think I’ve heard about it.
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Mopar - It was dry today. I called my hubby who is pretty mechanical when it first happened. He suspects a loose ground wire somewhere. He thought it might be going off/on when I hit bumps too, but from what I witnessed, it didn’t seem like it. The top tier of the dash lights where the turn signal shows still worked, and the ABS light would come on.
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago

Sincerely,
Ginny
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
RRAmom–I noticed your post about the automobile troubles. I agree with your husband. It does sound like a loose or poor ground if it is a late model vehicle. The computers on late models need the grounds to be good now more than ever. Very common in our shop nowadays!
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Mopar - Thanks so much for the advice! My hubby’s work has been extremely hectic (12-14 hour days!) and so it is hard for him to open the “van repair” “file drawer”. (One of the marriage conferences we went to, a guy told the group that men are like filing cabinets, they can only think about one, maybe two, subjects at a time. If they try to do more, they’ll tip over like a filing cabinet with all the drawers open.) I’ll share your advice with my hubby, so when he gets home, he’ll have some idea where to start looking. I’m thinking it might be the easiest to take the alternator off, and take it to a parts store to see if it is okay. Would that be a good idea?
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Lonewolf - It is hardly a late model, unless you are using “late” to refer to “deceased”, and it isn’t quite there - yet. It is a 1998, with over 200,000 miles.
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Mopar - I have to admit, pouring doc’s coffee on it does sound like a tempting idea. I’ve heard of pouring Coke on corroded battery cables, maybe coffee could fix whatever’s ailing it?
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Oh, please! Not the serpentine belt!! I don’t remember if it was this vehicle or which one, but I know that’s a pain.

I have learned that the world doesn’t end just because no one answers my comments.. I am okay with that. So how are you Dry and Terry.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
I’m not as trusting as you may want to believe. From my standpoint I am upset at what has been said to me and how I have been singled out through posts by you and the others. Again the longer post above is all about you(this has been said before recently). This is not about you alone. If I ever want to change my opinion or attitude towards you or anyone else that is my choice. I read your stories, like most of them, but that is as far as it goes right now. If you have grown than you can understand that. You do have an imagination and do relay it well to words. This is not to hurt you but a choice I wish to make and am free to do.
ladywolf17 about 15 years ago
I’m sorry that you were hurt Terry, I just want to make amends.

I don’ t want to be your enemy or anybody else’s enemy here.

I know that I hurt a lot of people here and that I have a lot to make up for. But I was angry at that time and I let it foolishly take me over.
ladywolf17 about 15 years ago
I understand that now Carmy. I don’t want to hurt anybody anymore.

I admit that I was stupid and insensitive to other people’s feelings. I was wrong and I am sorry.

You have chosen not to get to know us and now you probably never will.
ladywolf17 about 15 years ago
I’m not here to drag anyone down. I’m here to offer a peaceful truce.

I would like to know if you will just be using your Ladywolf sign on name or will you still be using your alter ones also?
