Good Morning Tribe!LoneWerewolf has provided a wonderful menu of goodies! I would like to contribute some cinnamon vanilla lattes and some Pumpkin spiced Krispy Kremes.
FrankenFri & Doctortoon - Good Morning. And I agree with Doc, typing out these long names leaves a lot to be desired. I vote that if we continue these holiday themes, we stick to calling each other by our usual nicknames.
I agree, I still walked with the kids to school this morning. Not enough snow to justify driving them in. Although my boss in Evergreen has about 8 inches so far.
I’ve played football in the snow…..it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be! Can’t see the field markings, can’t hang on to the ball, the ball is hard as a rock, when your off the field you freeze your a$$ off because you’ve been sweating……
When I played in high school, it was fun as long as you were in the game and moving. Not fun standing on the sidelines waiting for the offense to go back in.
Playing football in the snow is one of the best parts of the winter! There’s nothing to bring everyone down to my speed like a foot of slippery, wet, heavy snow.
At 13 it’s supposed to be for fun, FrankenFri, but sometimes I don’t know with these kids. They lost last week and almost missed the play-offs, which start this weekend.
* The kids are fine, it’s when the parents get involved, (Not saying you Terry). Parents around here are blood thristy, can’t let the kids have fun. I think a lot of them are trying to relive their youth through their kids, it’s a shame.*
Drycula–We have “those” parents here too. Next year is High School for most of these kids including my son and these people are acting like there going to the NFL!
Susanna Moodie
Susanna Moodie (1803-1885), a Canadian poet, novelist, and essayist, is chiefly remembered for her classic account of the lives of early settlers in what is now the province of Ontario: “Roughing It in the Bush.”
GOOD MORNING TRIBE
Before I forget, I thought of a name for me in keeping with the idea of pioneering, but Canadian.
We didn’t have pilgrims, but we had Courrier de Bois (Runners of the Woods) and pioneers.
Susanna Moodie wrote a book on her experiences in the bush, and so I’ll be her. When is American Thanksgiving anyways. (Ducks various soft objects hurled her way.)
Dementa I don’t think we’ve been on the same page for days.
Hi Drycula! Looks like I can’t join the party after all. I’ll be in North Bay with some colleagues. We’ll need prayers or a big withdrawal from the Tribal bank. I understand we may be going into a swine flu zone, and we haven’t be vacinated yet.
I’m sure we’ll be fine, but please think of us. Also, our host suffered a pulmonary embolism this week, so keep him in you prayers as he recovers.
Hi Terry, good luck to your son in his game, the year before high school was the last time I played football, I got clobbered by a guy who is now the starting line backer here at Michigan. That was cool!
Dry, you’ve all had your chance to beat me, and you didn’t. I fail to see how it is my* fault!
Wait a minute!! Did you say NOVEMBER 26TH? (My brain is slowly kicking into gear after two cups of coffee.)
This is still OCTOBER (right?) I should be here for the party then- but YOU guys will be eating turkey with your families. What am I supposed to do in the meantime. Eat cake?
Just been lurking today, tribe. I’ve got a ton of stuff to take care of, so not a lot of time to post.
Shrieka - hugs & prayers.
I probably won’t be around much on or near Thanksgiving Day. My hubby & I will have been married for 25 years on Nov. 24th, so we want to take a short trip somewhere without the kids!
But we can use the theme for the weeks leading up to the 26th.
I’m trying to think of a way to alter Mercy Warren, so it has “mom” in it. My brain’s tired, so someone else will have to be creative for me. (It’s so tired, I missed an algebra problem because I should have multiplied 2 & 4, instead of adding them.)
As of this morning, Mom’s about the same.
Shrieka - Priscilla Mullins was one of the “Mayflower” passengers. You can google her name for more info. The “Mayflower” was the ship that brought the Pilgrims to America.
Rmomzilla Thanks. I didn’t mean to dis a founding mother. I do know about the Mayflower. Our Principal has ancestors who came over on the Mayflower. He Bostonian.
I’ll look her up and then decide. I guess we Canadians we primarily French when the Mayflower made its voyage. Samuel De Champlain had communion at a place near our cottage around 1669 or so. The British didn’t travel as fast. Of course, the Jesuit Fathers were with the courier de bois, hence the Huron Carol from yesterday.
Yeah Carmummy that nickname is reserved for you.
Shrieka, now now, just because your jealous doesn’t mean that you should go picking on us fat ol’ Americans. :-P
And for the record, that was sarcasm about the pie. :-P :-P
Shreika - I wouldn’t get too worried that you inadvertently “dissed” a founding mother. Especially when we consider what some revisionist historians do with our past.
I’m sure you can come up with something for the theme. Foods, football, & history are all ripe for ideas.
Once again Doc disappears just a short while before I arrive back from RL. We are still working out the moving of 3 rooms. Today we had to cut off the legs of an old wooden desk, that would have been to expensive to get out in one piece. To bad, it would have been good for someone, the friend that hauled it away was going to see if the RE store wanted it, just in case. Next step, patching the walls and painting. Yuck.
@DocSTRANGER, you may want to reconsider aiming that catapult towards our friendly neighbors to the North. After all, if things go as usual, they may well end up with quite a bit more [ahem] white stuff to fling back our way than we have to fling theirs. Seems to me that Toronto has entire city blocks where the piles last until high summer. Even on the Dakota tundra, it doesn’t last much past June. Most years, anyway.
Cleo - RRMomercy would be shorter. Of course, I’m not so sure that I’m going to taking the time to type the complete theme names. Would Rmomercy be better?
FrankenFri - Considering your height, you probably are operating a grow op.
Last year at thaksgiving my wife decided to go as Frankenstein. She wears her hair short and spiky anyways. She found the appropriate clothing and big boots and wore a simple cardboard face mask. The results were remarkable. Everybody kept telling her how great her costume was. The thing that made the costume perfect was leaving her cane at home. Because of her injury, not having a cane forced her to walk very stiffly. By putting her arms out in front of her, she had Frankenstein’s walk. One guy was so impressed he put his arm around her in a playful hug. It wasn’t until he knocked her off balance that he said “Hey, you really do walk like that.” The only minor negative is that my wife is 5’2” and weighs 110 lbs.
I’m Chip! I’m Dale!
We’re just a couple of crazy rascals out to have some fun!
When Chip and Dale start cooking up some trouble,
You can bet it gets well done!
Folks all say we are the cutest two,
To tell the truth, I think so, too!
I’m Chip – No, I’m Chip!
A great sensational corporation,
We are Chip and Dale!
Dry - If you get a bullfrog, I think Jeremiah might be a good name. I never thought of getting a frog until very, very recently. I actually saw one in my yard this week and never had seen one here before. My question, was it wild or…lackadaisical. LOL
*Shika boo Im here im here. i had to stop at walking buddys* place of work to check my break fluid. my breaks are not working right. no need to worry i dont trust them as it is so i hit them WAY early. but it still sucks and is very scary when they did not work twice took some good pumps to get them to work. i think i have air in my lines. lord knows.
That’s alright Tombtabby, we know what you meant! I notice I spell things wrong here sometimes too, typing too fast, etc. Don’t feel like going back to fix them! Who the H E double hockey sticks cares? WE don’t!
So i got some bad news last night. I talked to my walking buddy and she informed me that we wont be able to go walking or get together realy till after the holidays because she will be more busy then normal. :0( tabby sad.
i am going take a shower and see if that helps my headache any. peace and love all.
WE INTERRUPT THIS BROADCAST ON BIG TOP TO ANNOUNCE A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR THE STATE OF COLORADO FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICETHE STRONGEST OCTOBER SNOWSTORM IN COLORADO IN 13 YEARS IS SLAMMING THE STATE OF COLORADO SHEPHARD SMITH JUST ANNOUNCED. ARE YOU HAPPY NOW DOC? :-D IF IT COMES TO PA I’M GONNA WRING YOUR NECK, BUBB!
Dry* - If **Doc gets snowed in, believe me he will find a way to reach his lady for cuddle time. Work, ah forget work, but don’t keep him from his lady.
Cleo Yes Doc would find some way to get there!
Oh can you just imagine how busy those grocery stores are right now? I’ll bet there isn’t a loaf of bread, a gallon of milk, or a roll of toilet paper to be found ANYWHERE in the state of Colorado! ROFLMAO!!!
FrankenFri, That’s where you’re wrong, turd! I would get a husky team and a sled, a snowmobile, or fly you here or something! You know me, I”D FIND A WAY!! I’m not called FHIG for nothing!
‘Round here, when a blizzard hits, nobody bothers to hit the stores. We already have stores at home. On the other hand, people have been known to go out 30 or 50 miles in a blizzard for essentials like a pack of cigarettes, or a case of beer. Or 100 feet of nylon rope.
Well Doc, you’d sing it once around me, and that would be it! LACMBO! Probably more for your singing voice than the song! The song is nice, your singing voice.… . . well no offense friend, but … . . !
Doctor Strange Toon–See I wasn’t kidding. Now if only that bullfrog could learn to do this too!
Step 1 Wipe down your toboggan with a clean rag to remove any cobwebs or dust if it’s been in storage.
Step 2 Apply toboggan or sled wax to the rag.
Step 3 Rub entire toboggan with wax, applying liberally to the bottom of the toboggan, where the most wear and tear will take place. Less wax is necessary on the seating area, because it can get too slick to sit on.
Step 4 Allow wax to seep into wood for up to an hour. Wipe with a clean, dry cloth. Buff to a shine. You’re ready to go!
OMG okay this is getting to be TMI so i am going bye bye. night all my head is spliting and they turned the tv up and that is on my side so i gotta go. loveing ya.
Hey WereWolfMan, when I was a kid we had a trunk lid from a ‘51 Pontiac at my grandparents’ farm in the mountains of Virginia. When it snowed we would slap a good coat of Turtle wax on that bad boy and drag it way up the hill and about 4 of us would sit on it and ride it for what seemed like miles. No sled from the store ever matched the performance of that trunk lid.
Hello MonsterMitch–We used many different objects for sleds and toboggans when I was a kid. Garbage can lids, garbage cans, an old winshield, you name it Bro’! Living in a family of gearheads gave us all kinds of neat toys.
* I came here to say Good Night and to ask you to PLEASE STOP talking about snow!* It’s making me nervous. We have to drive 5 or 6 hours north of here and if Doctor STRANGE mentions catapulting snow or otherwise giving me a snow-job, I’m going to personally…
It is windy but no snow yet. I don’t know what the forecast is. It doesn’t look to bad for North Bay, except that everytime I try to get an extended forecast for them, I’m told that it is unavailable. I wonder what that means? That there’s no hope for North Bay?
The last time that I was in North Bay there was this infestation of stink bugs. They were everywhere. I loved the area though. I stayed in these little old log cabins right on the water. An old couple owned the place and my cabin had croched doilies on everything.
Sigh. why must you live on the other side of the continent? I never get to chat with you. but my eyes are burning from reading, and I have a long day ahead.
Jeez, sorry Shrieka. North Bay is a vacation community and appears to be a party hang out for summer vacationers. They have a nice beach area, but not much of a town. It is in a beautiful area. Unfortunately the beach area is one hotel or motel after another. If you can stay on the beach, well in the summer months anyways, it is best because the beaches are sandy and the water is nice. To tell you the truth, I do not remember much about the community itself. I was going east when I first stayed there and going west on my return. I do not remember much except it was geared towards parties and vacationers.
LoneWerewolf - I will say hello old chum. I may disappear at any moment. I have been waiting patiently for my wife, to watch Tom Petty. When she says, I will be right there, it has a vast leeway time wise.
…………….ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZz(take notes please)ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ(I want to know if I say anything funny or interesting)ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzz(stop that….)ZZZZZZZZZZZzz(Mua, I said stop that))zzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZz(tee-hee!)))))))))ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz……………..
I know that you are both into good rock and roll. I don’t know if either of you are fans of Tom Petty, I would think you are FrankenFri, but the DVD Runnin’ Down a Dream is a good documentary of he and his band’s history.
I’m out some weeks more than others. Been close to home since the trade show in KY earlier this month. Need to do a road trip down the coast real soon.
Tom Petty was good, but I tend to live farther in the past.
I am all over the place musically, except for Opera and Classical. Believe it or not, even at my age, I was a huge Alt. rock guy when Seattle was the grunge capital of the US. I too like the rock I grew up with. I met my wife at an outdoor blues festival. I guess my favorites are blues, rock (current and past) and jazz.

Cleo - RRMomercy would be shorter. Of course, I’m not so sure that I’m going to taking the time to type the complete theme names. Would Rmomercy be better?

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Cleo, these ARE creative though!
cleokaya about 15 years ago

Yes Terry they are.

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Hey there Tabby!
tabbylynn about 15 years ago
hey lonewolf
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
I hope he doesn’t get confused as to where the wax goes?!

Good Night TombTabby

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Just the first trick puts him in the talented description!!!
SGIBeachbum about 15 years ago
Hey WereWolfMan, when I was a kid we had a trunk lid from a ‘51 Pontiac at my grandparents’ farm in the mountains of Virginia. When it snowed we would slap a good coat of Turtle wax on that bad boy and drag it way up the hill and about 4 of us would sit on it and ride it for what seemed like miles. No sled from the store ever matched the performance of that trunk lid.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Does he hang just hang on and use his hind legs or is it all hands? LOL

carmy about 15 years ago

The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
WHAT excuse, Drycula??
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Hello MonsterMitch–We used many different objects for sleds and toboggans when I was a kid. Garbage can lids, garbage cans, an old winshield, you name it Bro’! Living in a family of gearheads gave us all kinds of neat toys.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago

It is windy but no snow yet. I don’t know what the forecast is. It doesn’t look to bad for North Bay, except that everytime I try to get an extended forecast for them, I’m told that it is unavailable. I wonder what that means? That there’s no hope for North Bay?
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago
I think I’ve only mentioned it about 4 times cleo naked corpsakaya, LOL!
North Bay.
what can you tell me about it?
cleokaya about 15 years ago
The last time that I was in North Bay there was this infestation of stink bugs. They were everywhere. I loved the area though. I stayed in these little old log cabins right on the water. An old couple owned the place and my cabin had croched doilies on everything.

cleokaya about 15 years ago
Jeez, sorry Shrieka. North Bay is a vacation community and appears to be a party hang out for summer vacationers. They have a nice beach area, but not much of a town. It is in a beautiful area. Unfortunately the beach area is one hotel or motel after another. If you can stay on the beach, well in the summer months anyways, it is best because the beaches are sandy and the water is nice. To tell you the truth, I do not remember much about the community itself. I was going east when I first stayed there and going west on my return. I do not remember much except it was geared towards parties and vacationers.
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Tom Petty is good music. I listen to Rock, Country, Blues Oldies, Southern Rock, Hillbilly Rock, most anything with a good beat!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
I’m out some weeks more than others. Been close to home since the trade show in KY earlier this month. Need to do a road trip down the coast real soon.
Tom Petty was good, but I tend to live farther in the past.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I am all over the place musically, except for Opera and Classical. Believe it or not, even at my age, I was a huge Alt. rock guy when Seattle was the grunge capital of the US. I too like the rock I grew up with. I met my wife at an outdoor blues festival. I guess my favorites are blues, rock (current and past) and jazz.
