I always like Ogden Nash quotes!
Doc I want another dog, but don’t think it would sit well. I still may try it when the weather breaks, so I can house train it without freezing my buns off!
Dry good training aids in a dog “sitting well.” snerk
We were asked last night when we were going to get another dog as everyone misses Cleo. My wife and I haven’t yet embraced the idea of another pet. Maybe eventually. I sure like having a dog around.
Cleo Yes I miss having a dog, but as far as which is easier to take care of, a cats or dogs, I have found that cats are very easy and self sufficient. You can go away for a few days and leave cats on their own with enough food, water and litter and they’re fine. My cats are indoor, as were all my dogs.. Cleo, you’re lucky that you live in a somewhat secluded area. Our street has gotten so busy over the years. WIth our last dog, she would escape when the door was open, until she turned about 2, and we would have to literally stop traffic if she was on the road. OF course, she was a lab and beagle mix so she had that instinct to hunt down pat! Of course< I had a yellow lab once and she was so well behaved. Go figure!
“be prepared for the death of the king.”
“why is he sick?’
“no you idiot were gonna kill him, Simba too”
no king no king la la la la la …* you idiots there will be a king*
@Tabby, for some reason, I was reminded of this sequence, perhaps from Becket: (among the barons who later kill the Archbishop Thomas Becket at Henry’s hints.)
“Who is this man, Becket?”
“He’s the chancellor of England.”
“But who is he, as a man?”
(after a pause) “Do you have a pain?”
“No; why do you ask?”
“Because a baron who asks questions is a sick man!”
Just dodged a massive scare. Computer froze up with my medical history paper and physiology project on it. I was terrified it was about to crash. But, by some miracle, it turned back on. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some lunch and then it is time for class.
I’ll be back way later, if at all.
Peace and love.
What a day for rest and relaxation. Got the chiffarobe out of my room…..all the contents (less the goodwill stuff) are on my bed with nowhere to go. But it’s a start. Next I turn my bed the other way and try to get the credenza into the bedroom. When I get my refund I’ll get the shelving and then things should move along quite quickly.
JohnnyDoc have you thought about one of the online back up sites like Carbonite? Our machines are getting old, and I just might try it. My stuff is worth more than the $55/year cost.
Oh, I did get the first bunch of stuff out to Goodwill, so if you heard any anguished screaming about 3:00 est that was me parting with my stuff. It was all good! I’ll be skinny again! Gosh, I really want that Powder Puff Girl doll! Where will I put it? I dunno…..but it’s all GOOD STUFF.
Sigh warm up my soup, eat, then start clearing my bed.
I had a nice bike ride and now will go to town with LilG. She is going to help one of her daughter’s friends learn hot to prune roses and I am going to walk the waterfront. BBL
so we went play at BK with a friend of mine and her 3 year old. well ana and the kido got “Stuck” in the play pin thing. well guess who had to climb up and get them unstuck bc she is the younger of the two of us? yea you guessed it Tabby did. LOL my friend got pics. how nice of here. lol
Dry so do I!!!! she told me they will be posted when i lest expect it….. i felt so stupid climbing up there trying to get the girls out and i couldnt get out almost i was just so done for and stuck it was crazy. LOL my friend is just great she was there ready with her phone to take the pics. lol
Dry i cant help but love her. lol heck she let me house sit her house and dogs for a week, then babysit her kido and pays me more then anyone else does, then house sit for a weekend and then today buys me lunch AND takes pics of me stuck in a kids toy
OK. I just got back in for a few minutes before supper-time. I spent about an hour getting ready and watching old palms burn to ash–I hope. Should be ready for Wednesday now. We’ll see. But, when I got in, I jumped into the shower to try to limit smelling like a bonfire. I purposely set the shower temp with my forearm.
Wow! My toes said, “Hot, hot, hot, hot, hot!”
My fingers said, “Gee, this is really nicely warm now.”
My head and face said, “OK, don’t make it too hot!”
The rest of me said, “Nice…Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”
Thanks, Doc.
I could tell some horror stories concerning side effects that my parents & my in-laws received as a result of the medical treatments they’ve received. But I won’t, and spare the others the agony.
My hubby loves road trips, but with the mega hours he’s working, and the high price of gas, I don’t think that’s going to happen. We’re still checking around for quotes.
Hello all, I did about a three mile fast walk along the Bay today and took my wife out to our favorite restaurant for lunch. It is the tallest building in town so we could see the Bay and all of downtown. Then we bought pillows to put on our new furniture. Sheesh, it never ends.
I know Terry, but it didn’t used to take much of an excuse for my hubby to make a road trip. About 3 months after we were married, he talked me into us driving to OKC for dinner at Casa Bonita. His car started having major problems (later found out it was the fuel injector filter getting clogged) and we ended up staying in a fleabag motel, with no luggage of any kind. Had to hitch a ride back to Wichita with my boss (who was still living in OKC on weekends, as he was new). My hubby’s driven to Ohio to pick up a friend’s van that broke, and brought it back here. I will say that with his current job sending him places with the company truck frequently, he’s not quite as gung-ho about road trips as he used to be when he was younger.
Rmom, I understand where he is coming from. I love to drive long “road trips” too. But when I drove a rig over the road, I too, was not as willing to drive long distances when I was home.
Rmom no. We have no curtains in the living room and we have shades, but rarely use them. Nobody can see into the livingroom and one wall is all windows facing the lake, so curtains just don’t work in that room.
cleo, cleo, cleo!(shaking head) I see you have more to learn about decorating. There are window treatments that do not cover up the view, only decorate around it. We don’t have to worry about anyone looking in our windows either, but I do like having blinds I can close, to block out the sun when it gets at a certain angle. (Don’t let LilG see this, or she’ll get more ideas!)
‘Night, Terry.
I suppose I ought to get a few things done around here - like grade papers, and prepare his school work for tomorrow.
Good night, tribe!
Tabby, if I know you it is probably a stress headache. Ibuprofen works wonders for my headaches. Hopefully you can sit in a comfortable chair or couch, put your feet up and just relax.
Thanks, Dry, but I’m not out of the woods yet. February 24th is my D-Day, it will make or break my semester, (or, at least make for a miserable or pleasant April). And it is approaching fast, so I can’t lose too much momentum over this feat.
JFri what did you expect? The DUKE!!! Da’ Man! Loved all his movies! Esp. oh gee, never mind, there’s too many to name! Except “Angel and the Badman”, never did like that one!
Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to see too many John Wayne movies, JFri, but I have seen The Quiet Man a couple of times (mother’s favorite). It is a good one.
Dry, yeah, I just wish they hadn’t put them all on the same day.
This was supposed to be my last semester, but scheduling issues have got me here one more. So senoiritis hasn’t kicked in yet, and I think that is a good thing.
johnny Yes, my son may have to go an extra semester, but he’s still in his first year, so that is a ways off yet. He’s going for 2 years, but I’m hoping he will change up and go for 4, we’ll see.You need that piece of paper, but
that doesn’t even guarantee anything today, unless you go into the right field. HIs bro is an Ivy League magna c u m laude, and he’s looking for a job. There are no guarantees out there, but you chose a good field, so you should do okay.
JFri and johnny I loved the Quiet Man, and ANYTHING he did with Maureen O’Hara was GREAT! She is one heck of an actress! And they were friends in real life, and played so well together!
Don’t forget Rio Bravo and Sons of Katie Elder! And the Green Berets!
Bummer, for your son Dry. I wish him luck in his job search. I will find out this summer likely what the future holds for me. If I can line up all my ducks, things should work out fine and I’ll have a masters degree in three years with a job back home in Grand Rapids.
But for now, I am heading to bed. Peace and love all!
Sons Of Katie Elder was awesome!! So was The Horse Soldiers. Sands Of Iwo Jima. I could go on forever! He always bought Luchese boots. I own Tony Lamas, Noconas, and Cow Towns but no Lucheses.
Carmy Dennis who? Kidding! I paid NO attention to him. I had the BIGGEST crush on Michael Anderson, Jr. back then! I LOVED the movie * “MAJOR DUNDEE”!*
I’m sure, if he’s even still alive, he looks like an OLD OLD man by now!
so about 2 hours ago i went to tell u all my computer was crashing ill bbl well it crashed mid post. :0( so sorry i ran off on u all. i fell asleep in my chair and did not wash dishes. :0) now im in my bed talking to you guys…well myself kind of for right now… you know never mind im hurting my brain.
the Quiet Man is my all time favourite Duke film, followed very closely by Stagecoach and the Shootist. most underrated actor ever! (mainly because he was put down so much for his politics). i own many of Duke’s films on DVD & VHS. Doty moment here: George Plimpton played stunt man in a scene from Rio Lobo (i think). he was sitting at a table in a saloon (part of the gang of bad guys) and was shot while standing up from the chair and blown into the wall behind him. i remember seeing a TV show showing the behind the scenes on how it was done. fascinating.
cleo, that was maybe McQ?? McClintock was a western and it was a hoot! How about The Cowboys?
Dry, I’m sure the sell Tony Llama and Nocona boots out there! Cow Town, maybe not. I also have a pair of rhino boots made by a local boot maker. He got the hide from a ranger in Africa somewhere. It was a rogue animal they had to shoot.
Hi yguy! yes, I remember that now that you mention it about George Plimpton. He also wrote books, and he wrote one about Pro football, can’t remember the name of it, but I read it when I was a wee one of about 10 or so. Back then I knew everything there was to know about football. I was mad that I wasn’t a boy because I would never be able to play pro football! LOL! Kids and their dreams, huh?
Carmy, my Noconas are ostrich. I have a pair of Tony Llama Eastern Diamondbacks. Some lady was giving me grief about killing animals to make my boots so I asked her which she would rather stand next to, a cow or a rattlesnake. She got my point quickly when I asked her where her leather shoes came from!!
I saw an interview with a couple of John Wayne’s sons. They were talking about McLintock. The sons said that when they were about to shoot the scene with the ditch full of water (the one they were sliding into), the stunt actors didn’t want to do it. They were crying for more money. So John said he would do it himself and Maureen said she would too. Even old Chill Wills did it too.
the Searchers is another favourite of mine, Dry. as for Plimpton, the football book was “Paper Lion” about his stint as a quarterback at the Detroit Lions training camp. He also wrote stories for Sports Illustrated about pitching in a major league baseball game, being a boxer, and i believe he also did a stint trying to play goalie with the Boston Bruins. the kicker was that none of the other athletes knew he was a journalist instead of an athlete. he was a “participatory journalist” - a phrase i believe he coined for what he tried to do. an interesting way to get the layman an idea of what was involved in being a professional athlete.
Carmy Runs in my mind it was in 3 parts, at least in re-runs now. Never saw the original in 1955.
My all time favorite of Lucy though, is, was, and always will be the one with Bill Holden!
BC13 mclintock was good, but Quiet Man is by far his best. it allowed him to act instead of being a version of himself on screen, and the character actors surrounding him made the movie as great as it was. just fantastic (and great scenery to boot!)
anyhow, it’s time for me to take the horizontal position. i have to get up early tomorrow to do laundry so i can go to work. you’d think i would have found time during a long weekend to get it done, but noooooo…
Goodnight yyyguy! My daughters didn’t find the time to do their laundry until today also. While they are sleeping, I’m drying the last 2 loads for them.
yyyguy
I also think that The Quiet Man had a better supporting cast with Barry Fitzgerald Victor McLaglen and Ward Bond, but I also thought that O’Hara’s performance was excellent ans well as Yvonne de Carlo’s
yguy I saw the movie version but just vaguely remember it. And speaking of football, “Brian’s Song” about the friendship between Gale Sayers and Brian Piccolo, what a tear sherker. i think that was one of James Caan’s first movie roles as well.
And any movie with the Duke and Maureen O’Hara was priceless!
Tabby you need to find some of these films to watch. romantic, heroic, even villainous at times (The Searchers). John Wayne was one of America’s great acting talents.
BC13 you are correct, and Ward Bond was a great actor as well, played supporting actor in many of the Duke’s movies, I believe they too, were also good friends in real life.
And one more plug for Maureen O’Hara, in the ORIGINAL Parent Trap, with Hayley Mills and Brian Keith, GREAT MOVIE. The remake doesn’t hold a candle to the original!
Dry another great movie (Brian’s song) with some very quotable lines. “We were going to give you the game ball this week, too, but Butkus threatened us.” i’m pretty sure you’re correct about it being Caan’s first starring role (and he was in a John Wayne flick as well - one of the later ones, i don’t remember the title, but they got him a sawed off shot gun to use because, though he was deadly with a knife, he couldn’t shoot a pistol).
Hi everyone.
Yes John Wayne was certainly a great one. Love some of those oldies! And this page is the only one I’m reading - tv is just too mesmerizing.
Congrats, my American friends on the eight medals so far at the Olympics! I’ve been watching the skating tonight and spending NO time on the computer. I think that’s what it will be like for the next two weeks! Wonderful entertainment!!!
Cleo, this is one time when I would absolutely have to have a tv.
a very underrated movie had Maureen O’Hara playing John Candy’s mother in “Only the Lonely” a wonderful film that also starred Anthony Quinn and (i think) Ally Sheedy.
hi Dawn. we Canucks aren’t doing too badly, either. i agree, though. big sporting events are made for TV coverage these days. you can’t possibly see everything live.
Dry. if JFri doesn’t say it, i will. Rocky Bleier was a running back for the Steelers who was injured in Vietnam but became a back for the Steelers in the Franco Harris, Terry Bradshaw era.
and now i have to get to sleep or else i might just as well stay up all night.
gone for sure.
Yguy In Rio Bravo ,Ricky Nelson played Colorado, then in the second one, I want to say, Rio Lobo which was pretty much the same movie, James Caan took that role as the young gun totting gun slinger.

Sigh warm up my soup, eat, then start clearing my bed.

Wow! My toes said, “Hot, hot, hot, hot, hot!” My fingers said, “Gee, this is really nicely warm now.” My head and face said, “OK, don’t make it too hot!” The rest of me said, “Nice…Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago

Good Evening Rmom & Doc!
Been a semi-busy day again here. But I’m not complaining.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
I hope that means you’ve been working on projects you get paid to do, Terry!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Yes Rmom, I had two repair jobs which I made a few dollars on. Two others for my better half. :^)
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Thanks, Doc. I could tell some horror stories concerning side effects that my parents & my in-laws received as a result of the medical treatments they’ve received. But I won’t, and spare the others the agony.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Terry - If you were closer, I’d pay you to work on my PT!

Wolfangil & I were joking about that yesterday, Rmom! lol

My hubby loves road trips, but with the mega hours he’s working, and the high price of gas, I don’t think that’s going to happen. We’re still checking around for quotes.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Too many miles for something like that, Rmom.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hello all, I did about a three mile fast walk along the Bay today and took my wife out to our favorite restaurant for lunch. It is the tallest building in town so we could see the Bay and all of downtown. Then we bought pillows to put on our new furniture. Sheesh, it never ends.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
I know Terry, but it didn’t used to take much of an excuse for my hubby to make a road trip. About 3 months after we were married, he talked me into us driving to OKC for dinner at Casa Bonita. His car started having major problems (later found out it was the fuel injector filter getting clogged) and we ended up staying in a fleabag motel, with no luggage of any kind. Had to hitch a ride back to Wichita with my boss (who was still living in OKC on weekends, as he was new). My hubby’s driven to Ohio to pick up a friend’s van that broke, and brought it back here. I will say that with his current job sending him places with the company truck frequently, he’s not quite as gung-ho about road trips as he used to be when he was younger.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
so we ate supper and now we are in the “do i have to wash dishes?” stage
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Cleo - Have you bought new window treatments yet? LOL!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Hello Cleo.
Rmom, I understand where he is coming from. I love to drive long “road trips” too. But when I drove a rig over the road, I too, was not as willing to drive long distances when I was home.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Rmom no. We have no curtains in the living room and we have shades, but rarely use them. Nobody can see into the livingroom and one wall is all windows facing the lake, so curtains just don’t work in that room.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hello Terry.
I have been summoned to dinner. BBL
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
cleo, cleo, cleo! (shaking head) I see you have more to learn about decorating. There are window treatments that do not cover up the view, only decorate around it. We don’t have to worry about anyone looking in our windows either, but I do like having blinds I can close, to block out the sun when it gets at a certain angle. (Don’t let LilG see this, or she’ll get more ideas!)
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Heading off to dinner and a movie myself.

Thanks, Dry, but I’m not out of the woods yet. February 24th is my D-Day, it will make or break my semester, (or, at least make for a miserable or pleasant April). And it is approaching fast, so I can’t lose too much momentum over this feat.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Hi, johnny! Thanks for the comment on my avatar. School can really be a pressure cooker and it sounds like you have a very full schedule this term.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Oh yes, Johnny, mid-term grades! I know! My one is sweating also!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
JFri what did you expect? The DUKE!!! Da’ Man! Loved all his movies! Esp. oh gee, never mind, there’s too many to name! Except “Angel and the Badman”, never did like that one!
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
I never thought I would enjoy “The Quiet Man” but I really did. Loved Tall In The Saddle and Rio Lobo. The Shootist was quite a character study, too.
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to see too many John Wayne movies, JFri, but I have seen The Quiet Man a couple of times (mother’s favorite). It is a good one. Dry, yeah, I just wish they hadn’t put them all on the same day. This was supposed to be my last semester, but scheduling issues have got me here one more. So senoiritis hasn’t kicked in yet, and I think that is a good thing.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Movie break. Hi!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
johnny Yes, my son may have to go an extra semester, but he’s still in his first year, so that is a ways off yet. He’s going for 2 years, but I’m hoping he will change up and go for 4, we’ll see.You need that piece of paper, but that doesn’t even guarantee anything today, unless you go into the right field. HIs bro is an Ivy League magna c u m laude, and he’s looking for a job. There are no guarantees out there, but you chose a good field, so you should do okay.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
JFri and johnny I loved the Quiet Man, and ANYTHING he did with Maureen O’Hara was GREAT! She is one heck of an actress! And they were friends in real life, and played so well together! Don’t forget Rio Bravo and Sons of Katie Elder! And the Green Berets!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Times are tough Dry.

The Shootist was so sad, because he knew when he made that movie that he was dying.

No one mentioned McLintock! Where’s the whiskey?
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Bummer, for your son Dry. I wish him luck in his job search. I will find out this summer likely what the future holds for me. If I can line up all my ducks, things should work out fine and I’ll have a masters degree in three years with a job back home in Grand Rapids. But for now, I am heading to bed. Peace and love all!
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Sons Of Katie Elder was awesome!! So was The Horse Soldiers. Sands Of Iwo Jima. I could go on forever! He always bought Luchese boots. I own Tony Lamas, Noconas, and Cow Towns but no Lucheses.

Howdy JFri. I was in Seattle and got to watch the scene being filmed in McClintock when the police car was racing through the downtown streets.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy Dennis who? Kidding! I paid NO attention to him. I had the BIGGEST crush on Michael Anderson, Jr. back then! I LOVED the movie * “MAJOR DUNDEE”!* I’m sure, if he’s even still alive, he looks like an OLD OLD man by now!

JFri, you don’t need no stinkin’ boots man.

yyyguy almost 15 years ago
the Quiet Man is my all time favourite Duke film, followed very closely by Stagecoach and the Shootist. most underrated actor ever!
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
cleo, that was maybe McQ?? McClintock was a western and it was a hoot! How about The Cowboys?
Dry, I’m sure the sell Tony Llama and Nocona boots out there! Cow Town, maybe not. I also have a pair of rhino boots made by a local boot maker. He got the hide from a ranger in Africa somewhere. It was a rogue animal they had to shoot.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hi yguy! yes, I remember that now that you mention it about George Plimpton.

She got my point quickly when I asked her where her leather shoes came from!!
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
im now trying to get bro n girlfriend back together
carmy almost 15 years ago
I saw an interview with a couple of John Wayne’s sons. They were talking about McLintock. The sons said that when they were about to shoot the scene with the ditch full of water (the one they were sliding into), the stunt actors didn’t want to do it. They were crying for more money. So John said he would do it himself and Maureen said she would too. Even old Chill Wills did it too.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Tabby, are you able to recharge the battery. It’s very nice of you to help the Bro out.
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
the Searchers is another favourite of mine, Dry. as for Plimpton, the football book was “Paper Lion” about his stint as a quarterback at the Detroit Lions training camp.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy Runs in my mind it was in 3 parts, at least in re-runs now. Never saw the original in 1955. My all time favorite of Lucy though, is, was, and always will be the one with Bill Holden!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
yyyguy I love The Quiet Man, but I also love McLintock
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
another Doty moment. Alan Alda played George Plimpton in the movie version of Paper Lion. as far as i know, it was one of his first acting roles.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
carmy i like him better when he is NOT grouchy and mopeing around (SP)

Hello Carmy
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
BC13 mclintock was good, but Quiet Man is by far his best. it allowed him to act instead of being a version of himself on screen, and the character actors surrounding him made the movie as great as it was. just fantastic (and great scenery to boot!)
carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, I don’t remember if I saw the one with Bill Holden. I may have, just not sure.
yyyguy almost 15 years ago

The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
yyyguy, don’t forget his book The Bogey Man where he was a pro golfer! Hilarious!!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
yyyguy I also think that The Quiet Man had a better supporting cast with Barry Fitzgerald Victor McLaglen and Ward Bond, but I also thought that O’Hara’s performance was excellent ans well as Yvonne de Carlo’s
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Carmy* i didnt do much of my laundry today. one load. :0) bad tabby

The cool thing about John Wayne was the wide range of movies and characters he played. What a talent!

carmy almost 15 years ago
I’m sorry, Tabby. Did you have a good day today?
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Everything I ever heard about John Wayne was he was absolutely one of the nicest actors around.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Good night yguy! Hi BC13!
yguy I saw the movie version but just vaguely remember it. And speaking of football, “Brian’s Song” about the friendship between Gale Sayers and Brian Piccolo, what a tear sherker. i think that was one of James Caan’s first movie roles as well. And any movie with the Duke and Maureen O’Hara was priceless!
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
Tabby you need to find some of these films to watch. romantic, heroic, even villainous at times (The Searchers). John Wayne was one of America’s great acting talents.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hello, Tabby Lynn
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Dry, did you ever see Fighting Back? It was the story of Rocky Bleir, very inspirational!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
BC13 you are correct, and Ward Bond was a great actor as well, played supporting actor in many of the Duke’s movies, I believe they too, were also good friends in real life. And one more plug for Maureen O’Hara, in the ORIGINAL Parent Trap, with Hayley Mills and Brian Keith, GREAT MOVIE. The remake doesn’t hold a candle to the original!
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
Dry another great movie (Brian’s song) with some very quotable lines. “We were going to give you the game ball this week, too, but Butkus threatened us.” i’m pretty sure you’re correct about it being Caan’s first starring role (and he was in a John Wayne flick as well - one of the later ones, i don’t remember the title, but they got him a sawed off shot gun to use because, though he was deadly with a knife, he couldn’t shoot a pistol).
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Good night Dry. I think I’ll call it a night, myself. 5 AM comes too early! Good night everyone.

*Tabby, yguy is right. You should check out some of these films. I KNOW you would love the Quiet Man for one!
JFri that movie doesn’t ring a bell at the moment. I might have, he was a boxer, right?
DawnAvril almost 15 years ago
Hi everyone. Yes John Wayne was certainly a great one. Love some of those oldies! And this page is the only one I’m reading - tv is just too mesmerizing. Congrats, my American friends on the eight medals so far at the Olympics! I’ve been watching the skating tonight and spending NO time on the computer. I think that’s what it will be like for the next two weeks! Wonderful entertainment!!! Cleo, this is one time when I would absolutely have to have a tv.
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
a very underrated movie had Maureen O’Hara playing John Candy’s mother in “Only the Lonely” a wonderful film that also starred Anthony Quinn and (i think) Ally Sheedy.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Dry, remakes of the original classics NEVER hold a candle to the originals!! And yes, it was a great movie!
carmy almost 15 years ago
Tabby, I’m glad you and Ana had fun. I wouldn’t mind seeing the photos too. Goodnight BC13!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Goodnight BC13! It was nice to see you here! And I know what you mean, I should hit the hay too.
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
hi Dawn. we Canucks aren’t doing too badly, either. i agree, though. big sporting events are made for TV coverage these days. you can’t possibly see everything live. Dry. if JFri doesn’t say it, i will. Rocky Bleier was a running back for the Steelers who was injured in Vietnam but became a back for the Steelers in the Franco Harris, Terry Bradshaw era. and now i have to get to sleep or else i might just as well stay up all night. gone for sure.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Yguy In Rio Bravo ,Ricky Nelson played Colorado, then in the second one, I want to say, Rio Lobo which was pretty much the same movie, James Caan took that role as the young gun totting gun slinger.
