Lonewolf,
I don’t supose to Catch a Thief is a favorite movie of Yours?
Toward the end (which I just saw), Grace Kelly refers to Cary Grant as a Lone Wolf.
Good morning folks, as if there were ever anything good about a Monday morning. JFri, can I get a ribeye, medium rare, grits, and a couplea cinnamon rolls please? I’ll grab my own Cokey Cola.
I have a subscription of my favorites, this was on my page so you all know:
These comics did not update today:Agnes, Andy Capp, Ballard Street, Bound and Gagged, Brewster Rockit, The Dinette Set, Dog Eat Doug, Domestic Abuse, Eek!, Flight Deck, Flo and Friends, For Heaven’s Sake, FoxTrot, Heathcliff, Little Dog Lost, The Middletons, Momma, Nest Heads, On A Claire Day, The Other Coast, Pickles, The Quigmans, Red and Rover, Rubes, Speed Bump, Strange Brew, Winnie the Pooh, Wizard of Id, Working It Out, Zack Hill, Daddy’s Home, Steve Breen, Free Range, Bliss, The Barn, Chuckle Bros, Scary Gary, Life According to Garfield, Joe Vanilla, Fort Knox
Dry
I have a subscription, too. It said I had 21 available updates. I updated my subscription for 2 C & C and BB and was blown away to learn I now have 30 comics on my subscription list with those updates.
I do not usually want pizza for breakfast, but if it has anchovies I shall have a couple of pieces along with my ribeye cooked rare, hash browns and eggs over medium, with a large pirate coffee served black. Thanks JFri.
Good morning tribe!Dry - I’m afraid to add up how many comics I read each day, I might have to admit I’m addicted, if I knew. I think only 3 strips that weren’t updated here, I couldn’t get over at c dot c, so I’m glad about that.
Woke up this morning to some white stuff - not a lot, but I didn’t know we were supposed to get any. I’m ready for spring!!!
Good morning, tribe. Wonder why all the late updates? I read so many I often don’t notice that some didn’t update until I go to the “next” comic in my line up and get sent backwards.
Dry
I doubt I’ll ever go that high…even in retirement. I don’t think I’d ever get anything done.

Cloudy today and I think it’s going to cool off again for the rest of the week.
The painting is hung, but when I get back from some errands today I want to do some re-arranging and take down the seasonal painting and hang the others I’ve got stored away.
a quick howdy to my fellow Tribespeople. i have to inform you that (this close to spring) we are now in line for a “big winter storm” to hit this afternoon and evening. however, the weather folks are talkin a max of 12 cm - which is about 5 inches - so it shouldn’t be too bad. i’ll just leave a quick karma deposit and do catch up tonight after work (or tomorrow morning). hope everyone has a good day.
I think they should be known collectively as a pant o’ mimes.
Top questions of the day:
Where is Brewster Rocket?
Where is Dog Eat Doug?
Where is Mythtickle?
Where is Dr Toon?
Where is Marg?
Is there a conspiracy?
Enquiring minds want to no….
These must have really made an impression, because i actually remember this whole line from the adopted to the circus, thing and now the MIMES!!!! I think this reminded me how great comics were when I first started reading the newspaper again instead of just IVing the TV dope. Like finding an old friend and going over the memories of those times. Really am a nostalgic old coot.
I went back to the BT archives. You can start getting strips from Feb 1, 2003, though they have the calendar up back to 2001 but you can’t access the strips for some reason. The first few have been hilarious!

Between posts I am working on dinner. Tonight we are having chilled asparagus with orange basil vinaigrette, fresh fettucini with lemon and hot peppers and homemade Italian semolina bread.
(((Terry))) - Since both of my parents experienced dementia, I can relate. Dad started taking Aricept, and it actually reversed his symptoms, so he was his old self again. They have to start medication at the early onset, though. I guess it doesn’t work if they are too far along. Amenda seemed to help Mom. She had instant dementia with her 1st stroke for the most part, but we got meds for her when she didn’t recognize my sister a few times Thankfully, with the meds, her dementia didn’t get too bad. It is much easier on the caregivers when the patient recognizes them!
Hi Rmom
At the present my Mother says we are imagining this . Until she admits it, she won’t go to the doctor for it. She remembers things she has done for a long time. It’s the short term memory that is the problem.
Terry - My mom didn’t see the dementia, either. However, I got her to cooperate by pointing out how the meds helped Dad, and that it was important to start them very early, that I didn’t want her dementia to get worse. Her sister also had dementia, but she wasn’t diagnosed & treated in time, so hers got pretty bad. There is a questionnaire that family members fill out, that help a doctor to make the necessary determination. All I can say, is to tell her this is to PREVENT dementia, so she needs to go in early. Thankfully, my mom was pretty compliant, especially with me, since I didn’t usually get bossy with her, and we were able to talk frankly.
Rmom–Problem is my Mother has not watched anyone else go through it. Her parents passed away at an early age. If she could see it maybe that would help. My Mother is very proud.
Terry - Mom was always proud of her good health and independence until her stroke. That’s why I think it works to help them understand that meds can help them stay independent longer.
Lonewolf if you can’t get your mom to go to a doctor, you could see if she would try taking a total of 3000mg Fish Oil / Omega 3, preferably (spelling) like 1000mg 3x daily. My doctor suggested it to me for some short term memory problems I was having. It takes about 2 months to see results. If it works great! If it doesn’t work, no nasty side effects. —- It works for me (when taken consistantly).
bunny That has to be Doc in the snow pile! ROFLMAO! However, I’m no where near as big as the gal, what’s her name? I know it, but at the moment it escapes me! Time for “24”! BBL!
Lonewolf - you might try letting her know that short term memory problems can be caused by many things in people of all ages and it could be something minor and if it is something serious better to know sooner.
Also use the “We love you, we worry - if you do this we will feel better.” And the ultimate guilt, “I found James crying in his room because you forgot………” (Okay that last one only if desperate!)
And yes I know it is frustrating to not be able to make parents go get medical help. I have been frustrated with both of my parents in the past. I am currently more than frustrated with my mother because she knows better.
Thanks Carmy! That is correct! You would think I would have remembered that after ALL these years of reading B.C.! And I am no where near a fat broad! Weight more than I did back in the day, but I still wear a size 10!
Shika - I keep thinking your cat is going to jump out of your avatar and attack(Happy Pounce) someone!
Hi Rmom! I got a good idea from you! —–
Lonewolf have the grandchildren help you and your siblings convince your mom. Also if anyone is mischievious pretend that she agreed to things you never discussed with her.
Rmom - Geesh! Just having the grandkids whom Lonewolf’s mom might not see as nagging help convince her to go to the doctor. And at least they can help brainstorm. Sometimes its easier to take advice from not your own kids. Also, they might try talking to someone who is Lonewolf’s Mom’s friend and seeing if she/he is willing to help.
I really don’t know enough to offer specific ideas.
When someone is frustrating you or whatever:
Tell them if they don’t stop you will give them a black eye.
When they are staring at you like “What ……..?!?”, you hand them a piece of paper with the letter ‘i’ written in black.
Carmy Where art thou? “24” was GREAT again as per usual! I don’t watch that much TV but I do love that show. So does JFri! I hope this isn’t the last year, though there is talk the cast may hang it up. Keifer Sutherland is SUCH a good actor!
BC13/GROG BTW, ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIES! Along with “Stand By Me, “The Great Escape”, Let’s see what else? Oh THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGIES!
Dry
As you know, I think the Great Escape is a CLASSIC, dedicated to the 50. Knowing that deflated me in the end But have you seen Stallag 17? It’s Another classic P.O,W. movie starring William Holden, but the ending was much more gratifying in the end. Hope you know what I’m talking about because I wouldn’t want to give away who the stoolie is or the ending - only that you feel better at the ending.
Grog, Stalag 17? Never heard of it! Gripes man, KNOW how many times I have seen that! What about “Bridge Over the River Kwai” and not a WW2, but still great … WAIT FOR IT, DRUM ROLL … . .! ZULU
Hey, you know how it is Dry. A lotta kids today won’t watch movies because they’re BW. Last night, after I signed off from here I couldn’t sign off from a Movie on TCM called Solid Gold Cadilac, starring Judy Holday. Glad I did stay up. It was classified a BW, but the very last scene was in technicolor. If you’ve seen it you know why.
My cousin’s best friend’s dad wrote the screenplay for The Great Escape. I really enjoyed that movie and he was a good person to write the screenplay as he himself was a prisoner of war which he used to base his story in one of his novels, King Rat.
I have been having troubles with my mouse. I click on post comment and it posts twice and I have to keep deleting one as I did with my last two posts. It was doing it and then stopped and now has started up again. I stepped away from the computer and sure enough stereo.
Carmy I ran errands in town. It was a beautiful day and I wish that I could have done something outdoors, but oh well. I would rather do anything, including errands, in the sunshine.
Grog if it’s a good movie, my kids will watch B & W. Did you ever see “Zulu”? It’s in color, at least our DVD version is, I saw it the first time so long ago, I can’t remember if the original was or not.
Thanks Cleo. I was just so proud of Grog today in the B.C. Olympics. Always been a big fan since the early days when Johnny added him to the roster way back when.
Cleo Yes, very intense and one of the best! My memory is a* bit foggy for the EXACT quotes, and the actors who said the line, but a young soldier asks the Sgt., “Why us?” and the Sgt. replies, ” Because we’re here son, just us and nobody else.”*
Cleo
I heard the same from LuvH8, but the Grog I name myself after IS FROM B.C. - The first comic I read in my Childhood. Can any of you tell me what Grog calls a stick?
Carmy If you saw “Zulu” you would probably remember. It was on the level of “Soldier Blue”. VERY VERY INTENSE! Zulu was about the war in Africa back in the 1850’s???? and Soldier Blue was about the Indian Wars here after the Civil War.
Dry, I know what you mean. I am reminded about what a certain Pastor said once. He said he would often pick up hitchhikers and after awhile he would start talking about religion. He would do this while speeding down the highway. So eventually he would ask the hitchhiker if he wanted to give his heart to the Lord and he said he would stop watching the road and he would look at the person until they gave their answer, which was usually yes.
Grog As long as I have read B.C., no, but if someone said it, I would remember! I have some old BC books in my attic, BUT I AIN’T GOING UP THERE NOW TO LOOK! :-D
My monkey and I like ‘Harvey’ & ‘Arsenic & Old Lace’.
Has anyone seen ‘Flashback’ with Kiefer Sutherland?
Lonewolf - Good Luck! I hope some of my ideas gives you ideas that will work for you! Try not to worry too much, there is only so much you and your family can do.
Grog I always look for your comments because they are usually entertaining bombs.
Oh my gosh! Perfect bait and hook at Dog Eat Doug!
To all
After B.C tries to teach Grog in the forsit panel he says it al little louder in the second panel where Grog says just loud enough to blow B.C. away:
DROOB
In the final panel, it is a cool evening an B.C. is building a camp fire with Peter. B.C turns to Peter and says “Hand me another droob, will you.”
Marg
If you’re reading this, hope you’re feeling better. You should beat me to the post tomorrow, but today’s little victory just doesn’t matter until you’re at at the top of your game.
Since it’s back to work tomorrow, I’m calling it a night now.
if anyone important was wondering i am still part of this tribe i have become busy all of a suden with school and life. but i am still here, kind of. come wend. all the stressing will be over. come sat, it will be a wondeful day
We’ll look for you Sat, then Tabby.
Hi tribe RL has been busy again - the sun has been shining and the Olympics have been on so between walking and watching I have had time only to read comments and not to post.
Dawn i should be here by wend. come tomorrow night around this time i am calling it all quits on the essay if its not okay by then its not going to be. and saturday i may not be home. i have a wonderful day planed with walking buddy
how have you been?
Carmy it was a crazy day. i had a huge break from 11-2:30 today and i did not use it wisely. i should have worked on my essay, but we went to the park and played in the fresh air and beautiful weather insted. so now im paying for it this evening. lol i had math then home to do math hw and work on my essay somemore i quit for the night. now i am responding to a very important email and chatting here somewhat.
Hi Carmy and Dry.Dry I envy you still being a size ten - those too, were the days!
Tabby I’ll be at least lurking on Wed. even if I don’t have time to post. But I like to keep up with the comments and see what’s happening. I remember working on essays - a long time ago - sometimes I just needed to get away for a break and then got a second wind.
i wore shorts today. lol we swang on the swings till we thought we would barf. lol ever notice how when you hit a ceritan age your butt does not fit on the swings anymore?? yea lol i went there. :0) bug is smaller then i am and she had butt swing trouble. i get “Sea sick” on the swing now so it seems, but it didnt stop me. i kept going till my head felt to bad. but it was fun! and we even worked out
turns out that the make them to small in the parks. :0)
Dry i know i love it! i cant swing on a big one you know the 3 people ones they make me sick right away, but the personal one person ones i can swing on. and i do when i get the chance. its something to do with my headaches as to why that happens. :0I bummer
I used to love to swing too but sadly I get seasick now. Loved all the rides at the Stampede too (like a carnival) but i can’t take them anymore either.
Back from a LONG road trip that started at 7:00 AM!! Looked out and saw 11 snow capped mountains at once while standing by a pristine river and saying “I just LOVE my job!!!”
Dawn, a cloudless blue sky with the temp in the mid 50’s. I got to visit a small hydro dam that is totally camouflaged from the river (water is diverted to a canal 2 miles upstream & then returned to the river).

Rmom–Problem is my Mother has not watched anyone else go through it. Her parents passed away at an early age. If she could see it maybe that would help. My Mother is very proud.

Dry and DocT, I didn’t see any references to this here yesterday, so this one’s for you…

Hello Bunnyface(bmonk)–Good reference.

Terry - Mom was always proud of her good health and independence until her stroke. That’s why I think it works to help them understand that meds can help them stay independent longer.

Hello Everyone, Good Evening!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
bunny That has to be Doc in the snow pile! ROFLMAO! However, I’m no where near as big as the gal, what’s her name? I know it, but at the moment it escapes me! Time for “24”! BBL!
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Rmom & LuvH8, she won’t admit it, let alone go to the doctor for it. That’s got to change first.
carmy over 14 years ago
Dry, the fat broad’s name on B.C. is…Fat Broad.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
And yes I know it is frustrating to not be able to make parents go get medical help. I have been frustrated with both of my parents in the past. I am currently more than frustrated with my mother because she knows better.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Thanks Carmy! That is correct! You would think I would have remembered that after ALL these years of reading B.C.! And I am no where near a fat broad! Weight more than I did back in the day, but I still wear a size 10!

Bunnyface - You are BACK!
WHAT IS WITH ALL THE CLOWNS RECENTLY!?!?
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
LuvH8 - Now you’ve got me worried. :) What is this good idea?
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago

BC13/GROG BTW, ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIES! Along with “Stand By Me, “The Great Escape”, Let’s see what else? Oh THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGIES!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
bc13, OKAY GROG! You’re a bad a@@ huh? LOL!
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Dry As you know, I think the Great Escape is a CLASSIC, dedicated to the 50.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago

If you’ve seen it you know why.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
My cousin’s best friend’s dad wrote the screenplay for The Great Escape. I really enjoyed that movie and he was a good person to write the screenplay as he himself was a prisoner of war which he used to base his story in one of his novels, King Rat.

Cleo, maybe there’s something stuck in the mouse. When mine gets wonky, I give it a good cleaning and it’s as good as new.

Grog if it’s a good movie, my kids will watch B & W. Did you ever see “Zulu”? It’s in color, at least our DVD version is, I saw it the first time so long ago, I can’t remember if the original was or not.

I spoke prematurely. No Dry, I haven’t seen Zulu, but I’m looking it up. TCM is my source for the classics.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
Zulu was an intense movie that starred Michael Caine and Stanley Baker.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
A British film that also starred Jack Hawkins who is a part of my collection. My favorite starring Jack Hawkins was The Cruel Sea
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Cleo Yes, very intense and one of the best! My memory is a* bit foggy for the EXACT quotes, and the actors who said the line, but a young soldier asks the Sgt., “Why us?” and the Sgt. replies, ” Because we’re here son, just us and nobody else.”*
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Cleo I heard the same from LuvH8, but the Grog I name myself after IS FROM B.C. - The first comic I read in my Childhood. Can any of you tell me what Grog calls a stick?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Carmy If you saw “Zulu” you would probably remember. It was on the level of “Soldier Blue”. VERY VERY INTENSE! Zulu was about the war in Africa back in the 1850’s???? and Soldier Blue was about the Indian Wars here after the Civil War.
carmy over 14 years ago
Dry, I know what you mean. I am reminded about what a certain Pastor said once. He said he would often pick up hitchhikers and after awhile he would start talking about religion. He would do this while speeding down the highway. So eventually he would ask the hitchhiker if he wanted to give his heart to the Lord and he said he would stop watching the road and he would look at the person until they gave their answer, which was usually yes.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Grog As long as I have read B.C., no, but if someone said it, I would remember! I have some old BC books in my attic, BUT I AIN’T GOING UP THERE NOW TO LOOK! :-D
carmy over 14 years ago
You’re right, If I had seen Zulu, I would remember it. I may have seen previews as it is vaguely familiar.
