Dry There are a lot of variations of this old joke, but this is my favorite.

Joe & His Wooden Eye Two farmhands went to a country dance. One of the hands, Joe, had a wooden eye and was very self-conscious about it. Joe told the other guy, Bill, that he was worried about someone saying something about his wooden eye. Bill told him not to worry because it was a good eye and most people couldn’t tell it from a real eye.

Bill danced nearly every dance as there were a lot of farm girls there. Joe just didn’t dance at all. Finally, Bill went over to Joe and asked if he had danced with any of the girls.

Joe told him that he had not because he was concerned about them saying something about his wooden eye. Bill told him again not to be concerned about it.

Bill pointed to a girl sitting across the room and told Joe, “See that good-looking girl over there? She’s got a hair-lip and hasn’t danced but once or twice. I danced with her once and she’s an excellent dancer and real polite. Go over there and ask her to dance. She won’t say anything about your wooden eye.”

So Joe went over to the hair-lipped girl and asked, “Do you want to dance?” To which she replied in a high pitched hair-lipped voice, “Would I, Would I?”

To which Joe replied, “Hair-lip, Hair-lip!!!!”

So my “Nom de Comics” is the punch line of an old joke.

Dry how about Lamb Shanks with oranges and olives served with polenta and a marinated cauliflower salad with red onion. While you are waiting for dinner which will be served with a nice syrah, how about a Booker’s and some candied hot pepper pecans.

Sorry Dry how crass of me to forget about your nut alergy. I will offer crostini, with a topping of chopped tomato, capers, chopped kalamata onions, garlic and basil all marinated in extra virgin ollive oil. Syrah, is a dry red wine, that has a spicy nature to it and goes wonderfully with lamb.

Oh heck, Cleo! JUST GIVE ME THE HOT PEPPERS, I’ll eat them with my Bookers! That will taste great going down!

I actually got stuff done on Saturday, that hasn’t happened in eons. Today wasn’t as productive, but still got a little bit of work done. I was hoping for this weekend to be longer too.

Hi Dry, LW18 & Johnny I don’t have to work tomorrow, but I’ll still have to get up reasonably early. I’m expecting a plumber. Hope he arrives early and leaves early enough for me to get some errands done.

Dry we have chosen garbage pickup for once every two weeks and it seems like only a week has passed before I am putting it out again. Garbage is okay, it is recycling that is the pain, but I would rather recycle than throw it away. It was easy in Seattle, when I lived there. All recycling, no matter what it was, went into a big can. Here, we have to separate newspaper in one bin, plastics, aluminum and glass in another, other paper in another bin and then cardboard flattened and tied into a bunch.

Grog, so it is your turn to have plumbing problems. I hope you escape lightly on the bill.

Cleo we don’t have mandatory recycling here. The neighboring boro does, but we don’t.

My problems are with the outdoor plumbing. I think my pipes froze during a fairly recent cold snap. Hopefully he won’t have to dig up the back yard. I’m not expecting a big bill with my understanding of the nature of the problem. But we’ll see tomorrow. I just hope it can be fixed in a hurry. My lawn can use some watering. It was extremley windy today and I’m sure it dried out the effects of yesterday’s rains

Dry, recycling isn’t mandatory, but garbage is more expensive if you don’t and I like to recycle and think that my waste is going to be reused in one form or another.
