Good morning all and thanks for all the warm wishes relative to my son. I think I gave the wrong impression that his passing was very recent, but in truth it’s been 4 years now. It gets a little easier as we move on, but I still think of him at least once every day. We do a celebration of his life rather than mourning of his death, so it’s not all a sad occasion any more.

The village allows you to run the business out of the home at the present time, so I would fall under the “Grandfather” law if the village changed that. That’s why I put out the money for my license and insurance even though it really wasn’t affordable at the time.

I still am working on getting into a shop with lifts but I need enough regular customer’s to warrant the move. The last place I worked at ripped people badly and I just can’t do business that way. I love my profession and enjoy doing it the honest way.

Cleo, It does once in a while, but I’ve been doing this on the side along with my full time mechanic job for the better part of 30 years, except for the time in the military. I am used to it and don’t really mind. If I need one I have a friend with a large shop on his property and he will let me use the lift he has.

I saw Doc’s comment about Cathy needing to come on here and post nonsense to be considered a Troll. Not quite, besides posting asinine comments, she would also need to pretend she is someone that she is not and basically try to garner as much attention as possible, perhaps posting made-up stories to invoke sympathy too. Creating an alter-ego to communicate with when everyone on to her ignores her is optional.

Carmy, nothing wrong with a latte and Booker’s mix. I wouldn’t do it, but that is because I like my Booker’s unadulterated. It is no different then combining Irish Whiskey with sugar, coffee and whipped cream. So go for it sister.

Well dinner is calling and my Korean dish from a couple of nights ago is my leftovers. LilG proclaimed it to hot to eat and has said that it is even hotter tonight. She is having salmon tacos and I am having napalm.

Red-eye gravy is a thin sauce often seen in the cuisine of the Southern United States and associated with the country ham of that region. Other names for this sauce include poor man’s gravy, bird-eye gravy, bottom sop and red ham gravy. The gravy is made from the drippings of pan-fried country ham. Some people add black coffee, but REAL red-eye gravy doen’t have coffee - the red colour being produced by the fried ham drippings. The same drippings, when mixed with flour, make the flavouring for a white gravy. Red-eye gravy is often served over ham, cornbread, grits, or biscuits.

Carmy, As an aside to last night’s conversation, I may not have seen Honor Blackman in The Avengers, but I did see her in Goldfinger, which is my favorite Bond movie.

Grog, thanks for the red eye gravy info. I’ve heard of it, but I didn’t know what it was. I do like Goldfinger (Oddjob was cool) but I think my fav is Live and Let Die. Honor Blackman’s character’s name was um, too much!

I have to admit that was my favorite Roger Moore Bond.

Don’t forget Plenty or even Octopussy. Admittedly many of the names used were halarious…like Shady Tree or Tiffany Case.

    Hello Tribe

Heck of a week. Taking a large Karma withdrawal from the bank. Work is rough, I’ve been flip-flopped again and my accounts are no longer mine. We got another ‘head’, the one who replaced me while I was in Imports. It’s good we have another body, but handling all the ‘new’ accounts (until they’re big enough to be reassigned) is proving a hassle right now. I think it’ll work out…I’m trying like heck…but I’m tired.

Carmy, I found a James Bond site that actually ranks the names. Holly came in #2. Ms. Galore came in # 1

The top 5 are rounded out as follows:

    3 Honey Ryder

    4 Octopussy

    5 Plenty

Even some of the conventional names are amusing, like Paris Carver or Wai Lin, May Day, Miranda Frost, Dr. Molly Warmflash & Strawberry Fields.
