How do you feel about making a Nuclear Chocolate Pie from scratch? I’m sure it won’t do anything bad. (whispers under breath ~ of course I won’t be there when he makes it just in case)
LONEWOLF How good it is too come back after a day of grumbling to see such an appetizing breakfast. However, just as I was making up my mind over the delicious assortment, LUVH8’S inspired suggestion caught my eye. I would love some NUCLEAR CHOCOLATE PIE that is if you have the culinary expertise to make it. Not that I doubt your cooking ability for a second, but I think LUVH8 does.
Morning TRIBE! Sorry ‘bout yesterday but somehow I forgot that the end of the rainbow is BIG TOP.
Lewreader, I caught your post as I was about to shut down for the night or morning, however you want to say it. Whatever you want you may have, but certain items come at your own risk……………………..sir!
I’ve been doing breakfasts here for a while now though not as long as some of the older folk and I think I have a pretty tight handle on how it is done, my friend. Here is your NUCLEAR CHOCOLATE PIE and a special napkin to wipe the residue from your face and hands!
Incidentally, Doc, the ripostes over at my blog about your noble product are hilarious (at least to me). Thanks to you and everyone else who participated.
Good morning all. LW, may I have 3 eggs over easy with sausage, bacon, ham and grits, please. I’ll as usual supply my own Cokey Cola (never ask me about the flavoring I put in it).
Just made it. Doc, next time give a fair warning. It’s a long haul to the men’s room. In my mad dash, I had to knock down a couple co-workers in my path to get there in time.
Soggy morning, tribe!Cleo - What did you do? We’ve got more rain here than we need!
Guess up by KC they got a lot too, according to this news story:
Flash floods and storms are wreaking havoc in Johnson County tonight, cutting down communication, closing roadways and prompting a water rescue — of a fountain.
After 5 p.m. this evening callers reported a small car submerged in water in the area of Roe Avenue and Tomahawk Creek Parkway, across the street from the Town Center Plaza.
When divers went in for the rescue they discovered that the two small lights shining through the water came from a fountain that callers had forgotten was there.
Hi, Grog! - They’re thinking the rain may end this afternoon. The river that our house overlooks is predicted to rise above flood stage today. But that happens frequently, so not really that big of a deal. A few roads get closed, some fields have temporary rivers, but nothing horrible.
LuvH8 - Let’s just say that you have a very unusual appetite! For those of us who are more picky eaters, we won’t be asking for dinner invitations from you.
Good morning all. We here to have a lot of rain. Our street flooded but we have drain down the street. Before we bought the place two years ago we asked the Realtor about flooding and since this is a bi-level the lower level showed no signs of ever being flooded. All a small ditch compared to the big ditch. I think the small ditch drains into the big ditch and the city keeps cleared.
Rmom from the sever thunderstorms your way did you lose power there at your location? Here we did. Day before 1 1/2 during the night. And yesterday 1 hour.
Heads up spammers have not quite I wish they would. Flagged on couple of strips. Or am I waisting my time. Since they feel they have a right to post and make our lives miserable.
Hi Cleo, rmom and Kab! It must be raining everywhere today! I wish I had taken time to put my porch plants out in the grass for a good soaking. It has been pouring. Until I get home, it will probably be done. My plants could have had a good drink!
Hi, Kab!
We’ve only had short power outages - less than 10 minutes.
I read a comment on a story in the Eagle about the rain.
“All in favor of moving the River Festival to June, raise your right oar!”
Grog - I try to get battery backup for all our clocks. Cuts down on that problem, but of course, that’s not always possible to get. Our house thermostat’s clock does okay for those split-second interruptions. But for anything longer, I have to reset the day & time, or else it goes to their pre-set defaults, which Doc would like, but freeze me!
With a laptop computer, the short power interruptions aren’t too bad. But my sons’ desktop computers aren’t happy when that happens.
Rmom, I try to do the same too. Unfortunately there’s the toaster over, microwave and and stove that need to be reset each time. The toaster oven is the biggest P.I.T.A.
The microwave is easy.
Grog - Our toaster oven doesn’t have a clock on it. Microwave’s easy to set. I ignore the stove’s - it is analog. I do use analog on battery powered wall clocks, but the stove’s is located where I don’t look at it often.
Rmom I think the reason city of Wichita wants to move the Riverfest to June not sure when rain and school being out so more kids can go. They lost a lot on attendance in past and this past Riverfest. Us here we don’t go.
Well I have sorta different news here. You knew what I let you know about my surgery when was in April now therapy is almost over and getting to the joint in my shoulder. Now my husband has his turn he is 64 our primary sent him to a heart specialist 2 or 3 years ago well next Thurs. gonna be a long day for both of us he receives his first heart catheterization using dye. Only two hospitals does this one in Wichita the other in Andover. Wichita is Galihca
Kab - I’m surprised St. Francis or Wesley doesn’t do those. Maybe the heart docs that did that all switched to the new hospitals. I think the heart doc that did my Dad’s at St. Francis went to Galichia. I’ve never been in the Andover hospital, although I’ve driven past it.
If Cleo hadn’t put that part about typing in his comment, I could have had real fun teasing him!
Can’t think of anyway to make something funny out of a toaster OVER right now, but maybe you can, Dry.
bmonk I didn’t want to over-exaggerate - like my old man.
Fellow Baby I like my toaster oven. I don’t have a toaster, so it comes in handy there and to re-heat meals. I prefer it to using the microwave to reheat meals.
I only use the microwave when I’m in a hurry or to heat frozen meals like healthy choice.
LuvH8 will probably change her avatar after watching that video. It’s been many, many years since I’ve seen that - unlike the Smothers Brothers “My Old Man” video.
Well, at least the work day is more than half over. I will be back this afternoon. I have to go to my meeting and do some stuff. Do you want anything at the grocery store?
I don’t know, cleo. Just don’t make us sick like Doctor Toon did with his morning menu suggestions. You’ll have Fellow Baby and I running for our respective toilets again.
Did you get home, Grog?
Hi Cleo you’ve done much more than I. I did sweep some spiders and their webs from the porch swing. Masses of tiny little spiders. Guess it’s the season.
DocT I guess the arc is coming to an end on A@H but it has been fun. Don’t think I’ll try the mouthwash though. I want to keep my teeth.
LuvH8 and DocT I had to stop reading while I was eating my lunch - the conversations were just not conducive to digestion.
Hey, Terry and Dry, where did you disappear to? And Hi Rac, Kab, Ladywolf, RMom, Carmy, Lew, Misng, Johanan, BMonk I really hope I didn’t miss anyone today. I do miss Quaby’s Krispy Kremes.
Dawn I have had masses of those same little spiders, clinging to my hot tub cover, clinging to the door of my mailbox, back on my hot tub cover. I am a sweeping fool.
RMom somehow i thought your youngest had graduated or is that this year.
Grog I know what you mean. I used to live across Calgary from where I worked, then I transferred to where I could walk to work (well - a long walk - three miles - but I did it sometimes) It sure made a difference. Instead of fighting traffic, when I drove, It only took ten minutes.
Cleo I am so tired of those little blighters and the wasps just don’t seem to be interested in them. Do you know if they get big or do they stay tiny?
Dawn - My youngest should have graduated by now, but with my mom dying, and me having to spend a lot of time cleaning out her house, working on estate stuff, we’re running behind schedule. So, it is summer school for us.
Well, he’ll get it done soon enough - as will you. He’ll also be more ready for post-secondary, if that’s in his plans. Then what do you plan to do with your time? Take a well-deserved break?
No LilG wouldn’t mind Dawn, but she would probably do with you what she does with me…put you to work.
LilG asked me this morning what I thought of making an easy 500 dollars. I said, “Doing What?” Apparently there are a group of road cyclists that are riding through from Portland and need a place for ten cyclists to spend the night and they are willing to sleep on the floor, plus a catering service will provide a gourmet meal. I said sure, why not. We aren’t sure if it is going to happen yet, somebody could have responded before us.
I had no clue what your avatar depicted Terry until I clicked on it. I figured it was wolf related but could not make it out when it was small. It’s funny how once you have seen the image even the small image seems obvious now.
Terry it is raining and gray. Does that answer your question? I have a friend that is from San Diego, but lives just ten miles from me. He hates gray rainy northwest days and longs to be back in San Diego. He gets very depressed with the days we have been getting, especially when they become a regular day to day experience. LilG called his wife today on a business matter and asked how things were going and was told “not…well…at…all” So, I called this afternoon and left a message inviting them to dinner this weekend.
Terry it was nice for most of yesterday then turned in the latter afternoon and rained all night and today has been pretty sad, we did get our bike ride in though.
Grog, that episode is one of their best and that is saying a lot because they have so many. Another great one is the one where they go snipe hunting.
I seem to irritate JAD. I have repeatedly stuck up for him when I see him being ganged up on, but he likes to challenge me regularly and did so today at Citizen Dog.
I’m sorry to hear about your weather, Cleo. I love to sit on the porch or the patio and watch the rain sometimes while drinking coffee, but it can get old when it is day after day.
This is a comic site and it should be reader friendly. It’s hard sometimes for certain people not to take things that are said too seriously here. Especially when you can not talk face to face with that person.
Terry, if I got offended by people getting on my case I would have been gone long ago. I have met so many good people on gocomics that make the daily ritual a true pleasure.
Cleo - The driveway is fairly long. But I dawdled too - checked the rain gauge, dumped out 4 inches. Looked at the gouges in the driveway caused by the torrential rain last night, and tried to figure out how to drive out without damaging the car until we can get them filled in. Had to stop and remove Osage Orange thorns from the Crocs I was wearing. Climbed back up the stairs (2nd floor) and rested in the recliner until my bp came back up to normal. Opened & read the mail.
It was pretty nice weather, so no incentive to rush.
Fraid not, Doc. I’m not sure where the rains were, but they certainly weren’t in Pasadena or League City. My house was the warmest it’s been so far this year when I got in. It was a lot warmer than it was supposed to be out there due to lack of cloud cover.
Doc, I have sent clouds special delivery and it worked as it is clearing up a bit, which it tends to do most late afternoons. Rmom, getting the mail is quite an adventure for you.
Glad you liked them Terry! I just happened to run across them, and decided to upload. It is difficult to take bad pictures of the Grand Canyon, in my opinion.
I have central air, too, Doc, but it wasn’t set to kick in until my normal arrival time. I don’t have it cooling the house all day. Electricity is not cheap down here.
Rmom, the one thing that is hard to do at the Grand Canyon is to convey the sheer enormity of what you are looking at in a picture. The views are so jaw dropping when you experience them in person.
Depends on the humidity and the type of system. Our geo-thermal system works best if it doesn’t have to do extremes, so they told us it was better to let it run 24/7.
Rmom. I would have to agree with you. It is hard to take a bad picture of the Grand Canyon, but it is possible for Thomas Kinkade to paint a hideous likeness of it. His heart certainly wasn’t in it.
Cleo - I agree! That was the main reason I thought it needed to be a “must see” for our kids before they leave home. A lot of tourist attractions can be reasonably captured on camera, but not the Grand Canyon.
Thanks, Grog!
I’ve seen several Thomas Kinkade’s paintings, but not any of the Grand Canyon.
The pictures I put up are just like I took them - no editing. The only pictures I didn’t include were close ups of my family’s faces.
We are very lucky to have the National Parks. A few years ago I heard talk about letting them be run by private businesses. To me that would be a mistake of enormous proportions.
I by no means am trying to start a political discussion here but, if we can’t fund adequately for National Parks we had better cut spending elsewhere. They are our most precious resource.

Yes, it is Grog. Being a fan of T. Kinkade, I have seen it before and wondered why. With all of his beautiful paintings, it doesn’t make sense how that one came out.
That one and another hideous one, Radiant Surf have been on display at my local Kemah Gallery since I moved here. As I understand it, no one’s expressed interest in either. And they have 2 of Radiant Surf
I don’t think so, ♠Lonewolf♠. The only other reference to Mean Machine appears to be about soccer. Of course, Montreal once had a team called the Machine in the WFL.
♠Lonewolf♠, read this paragraph, from the review, which I find highly insulting - especially since I find soccer to be a snooze and Rugby to outclass it by a country mile.
In this remake of 1974’s ‘The Longest Yard’, the V-Man plays Danny “Mean Machine” Meehan, the one-time England football captain now serving time for drunken assault on a couple of policemen. The film’s already got one-up on the original version (which had Burt Reynolds in the lead),thanks to its decision to replace American football with a proper sport. But it does little else to alter the formula of a picture which was fairly well-received Stateside, if relatively unknown on these shores.
I wouldn’t watch this if it was the last film on Earth. I’d rather go to a Attack Of the Killer Tomatoes marathon.
I agree with you Grog. I just remember somebody making mention of a film called Mean Machines. I don’t even know if that was the movie. It’s the only one I find with that name.
I was feeling aggravated last night and it put me in a bad mood. So I just logged out and went to bed. I feel pretty good tonight, and hope that the Blackhawks win.
♠Lonewolf♠, I have breakfast for supper on occasion - particularly if I go without bacon and eggs for a long time. I like to see those 24 hour breakfast joints, too.
Heheh! I too eat breakfast for supper occasionally and I hit the breakfast joints after pool once in a while if Wolfangil doesn’t have work in the morning.
Hey Fellow Baby!!! Yes the Longest Yard was a GREAT flick. Did you know Burt Reynolds and James Hampton were very close friends in real life? The remake of that movie stunk!
I’m surprised in all your talk about movies you haven’t mentioned “Deliverance” or “Southern Comfort” or don’t you care for those types of movies?
Good evening, Fellow Baby! I don’t care those movies, but don’t take it personally. There are plenty of classics I won’t watch either, whether it’s because I’m not crazy about the story or the actors.
Fellow Baby what classics don’t you like? There are some I don’t like, and frankly, I’m not crazy about silent films, even though they were the first movies ever made. I imagine back in the day, people thought they were fantastic!
Doctor Zhivago, The King & I, A Streetcar Named Desire are few I can list off the top of my head. I am not a fan of Steve McQueen, Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Anthony Quinn and Marlon Brando to name a few.
Grog, I usually don’t watch remakes unless someone has seen it and highly suggests seeing it. Very seldom is it as good as the original. But there are exceptions to that rule!
And, yes, The Great Escape, but James Garner was my favorite actor in that one - not taking anything away from any of the other fine American and British actors.
They were all good in that! That was quite an ensemble they put together for that movie! One of my all time favorites! And based on a true story, did you know that?
They were all good in that! That was quite an ensemble they put together for that movie! One of my all time favorites! And based on a true story, did you know that?
I have seen quite a few things in my life that I consider special. The last one was very early one morning when I saw a green leaf from a plant. It had some dew drops on it, then just before I looked away I saw a small spider that looked completely transparent. ( Kind of like a crystal. ) It was very beautiful.
I got to liking King of the Hill for some odd reason. I can’t stnad most of those cartoons, got tired of the Simpsons, Family Guy turned gross, but I did like Futurama.
At a game between Montreal and Toronto, a spectator suddenly found himself in the thick of dozens of flying bottles.
“There’s nothing to worry about, lad,” said the elderly chap siting next to him. ” It’s like the bombs during the war. You won’t get hit unless the bottle’s got your name on it.”
“That’s just what I’m worried about,” said the fan. “My name’s Johnny Walker”.
No, it wasn’t Carmy, but his method of saving a cat was unconventional (using a plane to stop an oncoming truck)and once he had another emergency to deal with he tossed the cat aside. He saves a Bishop or something and gets an emergency during his flight. He then parks the guy on his @ss on top of a pointed peak. OUCH! End part 1.
Carmy, Yes, it hasn’t been on for a while now. I got to watching it, and started to like it. I really liked Luann and that boy, what was his name? I forget now.
Grog maybe the reason I never got tired of the Simpsons is that since I have no TV I only get to see it on occasion. I know that when we travel and have a motel or condo with TV I lose my patience very quickly since suddenly commercials have become super annoying. It’s funny when you are used to it how everything seems normal, but once seperated from TV the annoying aspects seem to be very much in the forefront.
I never saw Kablam, Carmy. I used to watch the FOX Sunday night lineup rather religiously, but not any more. My favorite show of the cartoon lineup was Futurama.
I have to admit to liking The Simpsons shows with Sideshow Bob.
Carmy Luann was the niece that came to live with them. She was a manicurist with a deep southern accent. the whole town was BIG cowboy fans, the cartoon took place either in Irving or near it They made reference to the Cowboys a lot!
Grog, I like Sideshow Bob too.
Dry, my oldest daughter used to watch it and she probably knows about Luann. I saw some of it because of the Texas thing.
Fellow Baby, Oh the commercials, that is one advantage to recording things! You can zip thru the commercials! There are a few commercials I like, but they aren’t on often, like the Etrade baby commercials and the Clydesdale commercials, which are only on over the holidays.
Cleo I don’t think I could do without tv, in fact, even thought I only watch certain things, I would miss a tv, but overall, you aren’t missing much! Except football and basketball, if you like basketball, I can’t remember.
The sports that I tend to be a fan of are tennis, boxing, football and golf. Other than football my interests are kind of more about individuals. I also like track and field, I guess I prefer sports generally that have one person battling to be the winner.
Frazier is on one of our local channels here, from Conroe, but DirecTV dropped them from the local TV lineup. So I have one of my TV’s set up on rabbit ears. I get a very good signal, when I decide to actually watch the show.
Pretty much, Cleo. I played sports (football, hockey & baseball) all 4 years in high school, too. Maybe that’s why. I’m not sure. I definitely like team sports the most.
As a kid the very first sport that I took an interest in was professional wrestling, which in reality isn’t really a sport at all. But when I was young I didn’t know that and loved to watch wrestlers like Dutch Savitch, Gene Kiniski and Gorgeous George. Well just a few weeks back Gene Kiniski died in a town less than 30 miles from here. He was huge in professional wrestling and a Canadian and I thought that he was pretty cool. The thing is, once he retired he lived just a few miles north of me and I never realized it until I read his obituary. I would have liked to have told him how much I appreciated his influence on me. Entertainment is what it is whether real or perceived.
By the way, ♠Lonewolf♠, I did like that joke. I just had too many posts to read and respond to. I just remembered it now, that things have slowed down some.
Cleo I remember Gene Kiniski and Gorgeous George. Calgary had the Hart family and major wrestling support. In brothers were my sons substitute teachers fact a couple of the Hart brothers were my sons substitute teachers in Junior high school. They were really nice guys out of the ring.
I was talking to Monkey 2. I told her that you get out of school a week later than her. When I mentioned you were a Senior, she said the Seniors graduated last week at her school and tomorrow at some of the other local schools.

Soggy morning, tribe! Cleo - What did you do? We’ve got more rain here than we need! Guess up by KC they got a lot too, according to this news story: Flash floods and storms are wreaking havoc in Johnson County tonight, cutting down communication, closing roadways and prompting a water rescue — of a fountain.

Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Hi, Grog! - They’re thinking the rain may end this afternoon. The river that our house overlooks is predicted to rise above flood stage today. But that happens frequently, so not really that big of a deal. A few roads get closed, some fields have temporary rivers, but nothing horrible.

Hi Cleo, rmom and Kab! It must be raining everywhere today! I wish I had taken time to put my porch plants out in the grass for a good soaking. It has been pouring. Until I get home, it will probably be done. My plants could have had a good drink!
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Hi, Kab! We’ve only had short power outages - less than 10 minutes. I read a comment on a story in the Eagle about the rain. “All in favor of moving the River Festival to June, raise your right oar!”

I get those annoying split-second interuptions - just enough to reset all your clocks. I hate that!
cleokaya over 14 years ago
Good Morning Kab & Dry. How thoughtless Dry, you should always have your planets well being forefront in your mind.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago

GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Good night, Doc. May you dream of some of those menu items you were dreaming up this morning.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago

Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Kab - I’m surprised St. Francis or Wesley doesn’t do those. Maybe the heart docs that did that all switched to the new hospitals. I think the heart doc that did my Dad’s at St. Francis went to Galichia. I’ve never been in the Andover hospital, although I’ve driven past it.

Had to stop and remove Osage Orange thorns from the Crocs I was wearing. Climbed back up the stairs (2nd floor) and rested in the recliner until my bp came back up to normal. Opened & read the mail. It was pretty nice weather, so no incentive to rush.

Rmom, the one thing that is hard to do at the Grand Canyon is to convey the sheer enormity of what you are looking at in a picture. The views are so jaw dropping when you experience them in person.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Depends on the humidity and the type of system. Our geo-thermal system works best if it doesn’t have to do extremes, so they told us it was better to let it run 24/7.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Rmom & Cleo, I believe you are both right about the Grand Canyon.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Rmom. I would have to agree with you. It is hard to take a bad picture of the Grand Canyon, but it is possible for Thomas Kinkade to paint a hideous likeness of it. His heart certainly wasn’t in it.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Cleo - I agree! That was the main reason I thought it needed to be a “must see” for our kids before they leave home. A lot of tourist attractions can be reasonably captured on camera, but not the Grand Canyon.

GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
♠Lonewolf♠, read this paragraph, from the review, which I find highly insulting - especially since I find soccer to be a snooze and Rugby to outclass it by a country mile.
In this remake of 1974’s ‘The Longest Yard’, the V-Man plays Danny “Mean Machine” Meehan, the one-time England football captain now serving time for drunken assault on a couple of policemen. The film’s already got one-up on the original version (which had Burt Reynolds in the lead), thanks to its decision to replace American football with a proper sport. But it does little else to alter the formula of a picture which was fairly well-received Stateside, if relatively unknown on these shores.
I wouldn’t watch this if it was the last film on Earth. I’d rather go to a Attack Of the Killer Tomatoes marathon.

COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Kind of late but coming right up, Grog. Enjoy!
Hello, LuvH8!!GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
♠Lonewolf♠, I have breakfast for supper on occasion - particularly if I go without bacon and eggs for a long time. I like to see those 24 hour breakfast joints, too.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
You people must quit complaining about your sunshine!!!
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Heheh! I too eat breakfast for supper occasionally and I hit the breakfast joints after pool once in a while if Wolfangil doesn’t have work in the morning.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
I’m definitely not complaining, LuvH8.
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
Munch, munch, munch,……….Burp!
**KABOOM!Wow! that is a good piece of pie.

ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
Big Sister! I only complain about sunshine because I want some of your rain.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
They just called a bad penalty against Chicago and the Blackhawks score anyhow!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Hey Fellow Baby!!! Yes the Longest Yard was a GREAT flick. Did you know Burt Reynolds and James Hampton were very close friends in real life? The remake of that movie stunk!
I’m surprised in all your talk about movies you haven’t mentioned “Deliverance” or “Southern Comfort” or don’t you care for those types of movies?
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
I’m happy with my cloudy side up eggs.
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
Is this going to be one of those games of ”You score, I score, and we’ll see who can score the most?”
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
I with you on that one Grog!
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
It just might be, Ladywolf.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Good evening, Fellow Baby! I don’t care those movies, but don’t take it personally. There are plenty of classics I won’t watch either, whether it’s because I’m not crazy about the story or the actors.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream?
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Way to go, Blackhawks*. Take no prisoners.
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
Lonewolf, has Wolfangil ever watched you play pool, and please tell her that I said hello.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Fellow Baby! at least my version of The Longest Yard is not edited for television. I just passed the *”I think he broke his bleeepin’ neck” scene.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Grog, I am not fond of those types of movies either.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Ladywolf, yes she watches me play sometimes. Mostly at tournaments, not so much at my pool leagues. I have had her on my teams some in the past.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
I do have a lot of rain. There was a brief shower today followed by a ray of sunshine. Everything was all sparkly and bright for about 3 minutes!
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
She says “Hello” back at you, Ladywolf.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Fellow Baby what classics don’t you like? There are some I don’t like, and frankly, I’m not crazy about silent films, even though they were the first movies ever made. I imagine back in the day, people thought they were fantastic!
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
I have seen both the original and remake of The Longest Yard. The original is indeed the best. Especially the end of it.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago

Doctor Zhivago, The King & I, A Streetcar Named Desire are few I can list off the top of my head. I am not a fan of Steve McQueen, Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Anthony Quinn and Marlon Brando to name a few.

2005, ♠Lonewolf♠ The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Scooby Doo, Johnny Bravo & Rhen & Stimpy, LuvH8
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
I also don’t like silent films, Fellow Baby…or subtitled films, unless it’s something like The Longest Yard.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Fellow Baby I agree with you on all those except for Steve McQueen. Loved him, and you SURELY must have enjoyed the “Great Escape”!
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
I won’t necessarily like an Academy Award Winning - or nominated film either.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Fellow Baby, there are exceptions to the rule, like The Longest Day & Where Eagles Dare.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Did you know in the first season of Scooby Doo several of the episodes have a noticable thing weird with their coloring for a second or two?
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Grog, I usually don’t watch remakes unless someone has seen it and highly suggests seeing it. Very seldom is it as good as the original. But there are exceptions to that rule!
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
They did seem magical Little Sister.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
And, yes, The Great Escape, but James Garner was my favorite actor in that one - not taking anything away from any of the other fine American and British actors.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
They were all good in that! That was quite an ensemble they put together for that movie! One of my all time favorites! And based on a true story, did you know that?

Nor I, ♠Lonewolf♠. I can’t wait to see the original The Man Who Knew Too Much again. I have bother versions.
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
At least for that moment in time Big Sister. Something that should be cherished.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Yes I knew that Fellow Baby.
Bodanski just got nailed the first time. Shall we go for two?
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Grog, that is one of my favorites!
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
The movie was true to the book, which was the writer’s stipulation for making the movie - none of that Hollywood embellishment.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
I love Hitchcock - but I would not want to see any of them remade!
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
I have seen quite a few things in my life that I consider special. The last one was very early one morning when I saw a green leaf from a plant. It had some dew drops on it, then just before I looked away I saw a small spider that looked completely transparent. ( Kind of like a crystal. ) It was very beautiful.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Ooooh, Hitchcock. Now you’re speaking my language, Grog!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Speaking of great ensembles, Fellow Baby, did you ever see “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World”?

Oddly enough, I didn’t get to see those episodes, Carmy He doesn’t ring a bell - and I haven’t seen the show in such a long time.
I have to add Futurama to the list of cartoons I watch.

I got to liking King of the Hill for some odd reason. I can’t stnad most of those cartoons, got tired of the Simpsons, Family Guy turned gross, but I did like Futurama.
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
Where did Big Sister go? I didn’t see her poof!
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Not yet, Grog. 1:45 left in regulation.
carmy over 14 years ago
Grog, there’s a clip of “Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy” on youtube.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Same here, Fellow Baby. I liked Stewy, but Peter wore thin on me very quickly. I also watch King of the Hill on occasion.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
She is still around I think. Maybe not into movie/TV talk?
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
OT, Grog!
carmy over 14 years ago

COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Where did you get to, LuvH8. It’s a full intermission.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Yeah, Peter is a real jerk!!! Even for a cartoon character!! LOL! They should have cancelled that instead of King of the Hill.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Carmy, I saw part one of Powdered Toast Man. He’s rather unconventional isn’t he?
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
I got one for you Grog.
WARNING, JOKE AHEAD!
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
At a game between Montreal and Toronto, a spectator suddenly found himself in the thick of dozens of flying bottles. “There’s nothing to worry about, lad,” said the elderly chap siting next to him. ” It’s like the bombs during the war. You won’t get hit unless the bottle’s got your name on it.” “That’s just what I’m worried about,” said the fan. “My name’s Johnny Walker”.
carmy over 14 years ago
Grog, I didn’t see part one of Powdered Toast Man. Was it bad? Sometimes they got a bit too risque.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
That one was funny, Carmy. As I stated, I didn’t recall seeing Powdered Toast Man on Ren & Stimpy
carmy over 14 years ago
Dry, i didn’t know they canceled King of the Hill.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
Well I for one love the Simpsons.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Heheh, imagine that, Cleo!
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
No, it wasn’t Carmy, but his method of saving a cat was unconventional (using a plane to stop an oncoming truck)and once he had another emergency to deal with he tossed the cat aside. He saves a Bishop or something and gets an emergency during his flight. He then parks the guy on his @ss on top of a pointed peak. OUCH! End part 1.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Carmy, Yes, it hasn’t been on for a while now. I got to watching it, and started to like it. I really liked Luann and that boy, what was his name? I forget now.
carmy over 14 years ago
Grog, did you used to watch any of the other Nick shows? I liked Kablam!
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
I can take it or leave it, cleo.If there’s something I like better, I’ll watch it, but I eventually got tired of The Simpsons
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
Come on Blackhawks! You need to establish puck dominance and get into a formation that will score.
carmy over 14 years ago
Grog, LMBO! Yep, that’s Powdered Toast Man! Dry, I think I may have only seen an episode or two. I don’t recall who Luann was. Hey Cleo!
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
cleokaya over 14 years ago
Grog maybe the reason I never got tired of the Simpsons is that since I have no TV I only get to see it on occasion. I know that when we travel and have a motel or condo with TV I lose my patience very quickly since suddenly commercials have become super annoying. It’s funny when you are used to it how everything seems normal, but once seperated from TV the annoying aspects seem to be very much in the forefront.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
The Stanley Cup belongs to Chicago!!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Hey Cleo! The Simpsons have changed somewhat since you last had a TV.
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
carmy over 14 years ago
Cleo, I know exactly what you’re talking about. I’ve come close to bashing some TVs because of the commercials in several waiting rooms.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
I never saw Kablam, Carmy. I used to watch the FOX Sunday night lineup rather religiously, but not any more. My favorite show of the cartoon lineup was Futurama.
I have to admit to liking The Simpsons shows with Sideshow Bob.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Carmy Luann was the niece that came to live with them. She was a manicurist with a deep southern accent. the whole town was BIG cowboy fans, the cartoon took place either in Irving or near it They made reference to the Cowboys a lot!
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
High Five Guys!
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
It’s getting to the point where there’ll be more commercial than show. That’s why I pop in a vidio most every night or tune into TCM.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
It’s pretty bad when you can go to the bathroom , make a quick snack and get back before the end of a commercial break.
carmy over 14 years ago
Grog, I like Sideshow Bob too. Dry, my oldest daughter used to watch it and she probably knows about Luann. I saw some of it because of the Texas thing.
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
How do we do the Happy dance without Big Sister, or in this case …….
The Victory Dance!carmy over 14 years ago
Grog, maybe you’re just a quick bathroom goer and snack maker. LOL
cleokaya over 14 years ago
I used to enjoy that show as well. Propane never had it so good.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Fellow Baby, Oh the commercials, that is one advantage to recording things! You can zip thru the commercials! There are a few commercials I like, but they aren’t on often, like the Etrade baby commercials and the Clydesdale commercials, which are only on over the holidays.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 14 years ago
Cleo I don’t think I could do without tv, in fact, even thought I only watch certain things, I would miss a tv, but overall, you aren’t missing much! Except football and basketball, if you like basketball, I can’t remember.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago

I used to record shows, but that was when there was can’t miss TV and I was out a lot…partying or at school at night.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
The sports that I tend to be a fan of are tennis, boxing, football and golf. Other than football my interests are kind of more about individuals. I also like track and field, I guess I prefer sports generally that have one person battling to be the winner.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Frazier is on one of our local channels here, from Conroe, but DirecTV dropped them from the local TV lineup. So I have one of my TV’s set up on rabbit ears. I get a very good signal, when I decide to actually watch the show.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
I’m bad Cleo, I like all sports!
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
I am the oposite, cleo. I couldn’t be bothered with individual sports, but followed the team sports - except for basketball & soccer.
