The neighbors and some of their friends grow organic vegetables and give us vegetables. They do this in exchange for mowing our field and putting their sign up in the field. Really good deal for us. I guess them too, because their sign is pretty noticable there.

rac0308 I tried WoW for the 10 day trial. I could see that being a good game, but I’ve spent over 6 years in EQ and that’s too much time/emotion invested for me to give it up. Sadly, a lot of my friends there have gone over to WoW.

LuvH8 and Sojourner I thought you were going to point that thing toward Florida, not north to Alberta. Last night a dam burst in southern Alta. and the TransCanada was closed for several hours. I heard that people were being evacuated in several communities.

Whoa, yesterday’s shenanigans with Doc’s nuclear coffee explains the rattling windows round here. Hopefully we won’t get a sympathy quake (or nuclear strike) today.

Got my 60 day evaluation on my PIP (Personal Improvement Plan). I’ve done good but now they want to tweak some other things and I’m PIPPED for another 60 days. Sigh. But I did show improvement (like I knew I would) and now the work boxes are going to be rotated weekly. I won’t always be stuck with the one booking box and I’ll have more opportunity to show I can pump out the online bookings just as good as anyone else.

Taffy’s growing like a weed. She’s almost doubled her size, though she’s still a teeny tiny thing. She’s settling down a bit, will let me hold her without squirming and struggling to get down and PLAY.

Anyway, it’s a lovely though hot day here, the universe’s armpit is very sweaty. Hope ya’ll are having an equally nice day.

Oh, and forgot the last ‘wonderful’ thing to the week. Instead of an unemployment check my hubby got a notice advising because of the Congress’ dithering and dathering benefits for the longer-term unemployed are delayed. Yahoo. Thank you Congress. My new motto, as changed from vote the Dems out:

It did sound like a good solution to the oil spill - just burn it off! Need to go read my comics now… Poof!

Rmom, the only thing hitting Florida is some thunderstorms. Whatever was “aimed” here earlier, must have been a dud.

Fine. I don’t have cable etc. so haven’t been able to watch my best liked sport for some time. However, they are showing RUGBY on TV right now! A while back they showed Rugby 7 which isn’t bad and will now be in the Olympics. I Think what is showing is regular Rugby but I like best Union Rugby which has even more action! It seems like soccer, rugby is becoming more popular in the U.S. and may be shown on TV more!

Finished what I could with the cars, now I need to go on the roof and cut some tree branches that are close to the skylights.

The storm played havoc with my trees, but at least no damage.

LuvH8 You might say that, yes. They don”t wear protectvive gear, but then protective gear can be used to cause injuries. Rugy seems to combine football, soccer, and basketball. They main difference is to keep action going and not have delays in play. When someone is tackled play contines unlike football. When injuries occour (union rugby allows 1 min. timeot then play starts) play continues, even over a down player being attended to by a doctor. To keep the action going the ref. can call an advantage if infractions happen against the team that has an advantage - this means all rules are suspended and play contains. The point is for fans not to sit through non-action.

That does sound interesting. Maybe one day I will watch a game. Whenever I have actually watched sports the amount of time spent not playing drove me up the wall. I remember basket ball games where there would about 3 minutes on the clock and it would take almost 15 minutes for them to play those 3 minutes. Very annoying.

That certainly won’t happen in rugby!

Although the part about the game playing over a downed player sounds a bit scary. Do they at least do something to protect the player and doctor?

No. I’ve watched games where they had to get the player on a stecher and carry him off while the players ran over the top of them while playing. Union Rugby is liberal in interpeting the laws (rules) as most types of rugby are. You can watch things that would never be allowed in other sports. Once for a try (touchdown) the player was on his back with his arm extended and the tip of one finger was touching the ball as it hit the ground. It was ruled good as he had “control” of the ball. Once in a game with a lot of rain there were a lot of pileups of players because of the conditiones. On one which was several players deep one player walked on top of the pile and started kicking an opposing player as hard as he could. The commentators said that was allright because he was over the ball and was just trying to kick the ball!

So, definitely dangerous. Maybe the could erect a bubble over the injured? That would be interesting. You know like a portable tent but stronger.

That would just get in the way of regular play.

Well phooey! There goes my instinct to protect the injured.

Have to go now, I just remembered I need to go to the library before it closes. Also, I have yucky cleaning to do.

SOJOURNER I love to watch the college kids play rugby. They won’t let me because of my superior age and skill (Wouldn’t be fair to kids one third my age) The best thing is it never stops Ball down, ball up and in play

They claim baseball has no time outs. Every Time the pitcher touches a ball is time out. Ball get thrown to pitcher, time out. Pitcher stretches, time out. Pitcher spits, time out, Pitcher fakes to first, time out. batter step back to rub dirt on hands, time out, Batter wipes dirt on pants, time out. It’s been 10 minutes and the ball hasn’t left the pitcher’s hand.

Besides, they store the beer in the open at Rugby.

Lewreader - I agree about all the non-play in a lot of sports. I’m watching the Universal Sports channel - their showing the 2nd Rugby game today: USA - 10, France - 17, game half through the 2nd half.

Rugby update: - USA losses to France - 10 to 24

That is one sport that I’ve never gotten interested in, Sojo.

I’m getting hungry. Wolfangil and my daughter have been hitting garage sales today. They are not home yet. Time has gone by too fast for me!

♠Lonewolf♠ - It can be hard to understand if you havn’t watcher it. The laws (rules) are not easy to understand if you don’t know them and that makes it hard to hold your interest. I should be having my supper now also.

Hanging in there, Grog. Got a LOT of things done, today. Fixed a fuel leak on one of my cars, order the exhaust parts for my one pick up truck, cut the branches hitting my skylights and trimmed most of the bushes!
