Hi! How was pool? Or do I need to go back and read yesterday’s comments?
Little Sister ~ The menu looks wonderful as always. I think I will have Doc’s World Famous Nuclear Coffee & Starbright’s Divine Cocoa Mocha courtesy of Johanan Rakkav with whipped cream and cinnamon. You can just put it all in one mug if you want.
That’s okay I just finished yesterday’s comments. Very amusing actually maybe there were two lectures on freaking. I actually mean freaking when I say freaking. As in freaking out or it is freaking me out. I just don’t always feel the need to add the out and me out.
No thanks, LuvH8. I’m sleepy enough and I’ve already got 4 hours under my belt. I just wanted to get some commenting out of the way to clear off my morning plate.
Here’s a repeat of yesterday’s closing comments from me for those who might’ve missed them (thanks, Ladywolf, for sending me off in response):
It’s a little late to say so, but thanks for everyone’s well wishes and comments today. It’s nice to see that I’m so generally well-received, even if I actually agree with Joe on some issues (and can get almost as cranky when my button’s pushed on them). :)
In all likelihood you won’t see me until sometime on Monday (late), as I’m traveling to Dallas with a friend, but if I can sneak in a comment, I will.
The teleporter delivering the ingredients and extras for CocoMocha will remain open, as usual. This Sabbath (Friday sunset to Saturday sunset) we are also providing the various varieties of Sabra liqueur as “spikes” if desired.
OK, I need an early breatfast, so if you can have my usual CocoMocha and hash browns ready, I’d be much obliged. Don’t overdo the starches otherwise, If you have turkey or beef (or even venison) sausage, I’ll take it.
(In real life I may go down to The 59 Diner this morning and have something proteinaceous - plus some hot chocolate, so that I have an excuse to bring along a packet of Starbucks VIA Columbian coffee to put in it.)
While I’m here, I’d like to put in a word for our Resident Knower of Things. (This might surprise you as I’m as quick to cross sabers with him on occasion as anyone.)
As some of you probably realize, I’ve been a keen student of personality type models, ultimately as based on Carl Jung’s ideas, but fully developed by a lot of other people. When I realized that our fellow poster thinks and acts like a “core” INTP (see here and here) - one who spends much time in his own Shadow, as it’s said - he became a lot easier for me to understand, and to forgive.
I’m just saying, it’s much more difficult for INTPs than it is for most people to relate socially to others even under the best of conditions. That part of their psyche is naturally the least developed and hardest to access, and so logical frameworks, the pulling together of many ideas and concepts in the objective world, and dwelling on memories are their preferred ways of trying to deal with people, in that order. And that’s exactly what our Resident Knower of Things does.
By contrast, the hardest things for me as an ENFP to do are to access my memories of the past and to focus in a proper way on the sensual relaities of the present. If I’m not careful I too can overreact in ways that not everyone appreciates. My very kind-heartedness (for the praise of which I thank you) can be a two-edged sword. I have the reputation in these parts as someone you don’t want to anger, ever. I’m afraid it’s well-earned.
LADYWOLF, looked down your delicious and humorous menu for something I could consume in my condition (mean, spiteful, everybody hates me, gonna hold my breath till I’m blue) At the end I found “Ice cream, any flavor, your request. I request a pint of every flavor made by Ben & Jerry’s, plus a half gallon of Maple Walnut covered in whipped cream. If that doesn’t brighten my mood at least it will give me an excuse to call in sick.
Morning TRIBE! I wonder if my shrink would prescribe a half gallon of cookies and cream, a can of Redi-Whip, and a hot bath?
The good news is our rain chances are dropping to about 30% from 80% yesterday, which turned out to be more like 110% in this area. But at least there was no flooding that I am aware of. We could use a dry spell though
Great - Now i’ve got that dam jingle in my head for the day.

I will continue to ignore him, Johanan. As difficult as it is at times.
Sorry about your match, Lonewolf but team standings do come first, most times.
The hot bath would probably make a mess of the ice cream, LewGrog - Good morning
I’m sorry but I’m NOT in a good mood right now. I started reading my comics and all of a sudden they are not loading . I’ve tried every method of “sneaking in the back door” I can think of but I can’t get any of them to come on. I can get the comments but not the toons.
Runs With Beer: Love that name, goes perfectly with the avatar. Weirdly, but perfectly.
So you’re going to ignore him. So long as you know why it’s difficult to do so… which, I trust I’ve explained.
I’m packed, but true to form another INTP I know (this time face-to-face) is running late. Not that I can complain, I waited until the last minute to pack as I always do. He just might be stuck in Houston traffic.
Serenasakitty ~ I have recently realized that if I right click where the picture is supposed to be and select show picture. It will refresh only the picture part. Which takes a little less time and is more reliable for the picture showing up than refreshing the whole page. You could try that.
Good late morning all. It appears a few will be busy this weekend. Me I have to go in every day pt. Not sure what my weekend will look like. West of us Sedgwick County is having annual fair cheaper then state fair. Hold it right after 4th.
Well Grog where I work at I cannot have gocomics to many bosses. And company monitors internet use. Now if I need to inform an unwanted company not to mail stuff there is no objection. Yesterday as any other day tedious. I would like elsewhere but not gonna happen.
Hello Kab
Sorry you have to work on the weekend. I haven’t been to a fair in years. I wonder if it is more fun when you get to decide what to do there.
Grog I hear your taking today off. Must need to use vacation time.
When I started reading gocomics and shied off from BT as too many posts I read for funniness. Didn’t know arguments would happen.
Hello Luv8 I wasn’t aware Friday is a weekend, I know it’s before a weekend. I don’t work on Sat’s or Sun. There are things have to be done on Friday’s anyway. That is suppose to be easy day but not.
————————-
I don’t have the day off, Kab, but the day is not as hectic as it has been.
Arguments? What arguments? Leg pulling, maybe, but no arguements.
Sorry Kab. I misunderstood and thought you had to work on Saturday and Sunday. I hope you manage to have some fun. I imagine the fair is actually much more enjoyable when you are not trying to be a well behaved preteen with your grandmother & great grandmother.
I’m not going to be on much longer have to get around for afternoon. Would one believe older adults have to work pt due unable for full time for some. Others and where I work at prefers pt retired from full time teaching. One that works pt, not me, wanted to leave teaching because of budget problems with the state. Now we have add 1 cent for state tax to help all schools out.
Good Morning to ALL!
By poping I guess I mean I will be checking comments and sometimes visiting but will be trying to get things done that will prevent from always watching comments. (phew - was that long-winded or what?)
I argue very well. Ask any of my remaining friends. I can win an argument on any topic, against any opponent. People know this, and steer clear of me at parties. Often, as a sign of their great respect, they don’t even invite me.
Hi All. I’m sorry for blasting off like I did but it is just so frustrating. Especially when there are 2 or 3 days toons to catch up on. But they finally did come on.
Hi All - Quick pop in and back out to finish the toon tour.
Serenasakitty - Regarding A@H yesterday- a Vogon is a character from Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy. They love thier poetry, but to everyone else in the Galaxy it is considered to be torture to have to listen to it.
just time to post a quick good morning. i’m feeling a bit better and will be going to work today, so i won’t be sitting in front of my computer chatting. will probably have to wait until tonight to finish the toon tour as i need to do my chores before i go. hope everyone has a decent day.
Just woke up with a terrible stomach ache. When I was a teenager I could have eaten all that ice cream and had room for more. And back then my gut was half the size it is now. Can I blame LADYWOLF?
Doc Glad you’ve been able to get some sleep. When we need it our bodies tend to ensure we get it. At least it works that way for me.
Well, it’s time for me to head home. Have a bible study tonight, and study, study, study for tomorrow. I’ll try to pop in and say hi sometime, but it may be Monday before I’m back on.
Lonewolf I think wolves go with everything also, but I kinda like this look too…
Actually, everyone in my family (except my hubby) has a (stuffed) wolf. My hubby knows how much I like them so he brought one home for me and my oldest from a business trip. When the younger two were born, their grandma bought them each one so everyone has one. My hubby on the other hand has a white tiger I bought for him for our first Christmas when we were first dating.
Just got home from a busy day. Enrolled son #2 at college, bought textbooks, got his student ID, showed him around the student union, shopped at Wal-Mart, picked up a friend, dropped off the son, shopped at Sam’s, Wal-Mart, picked up son, dropped off friend, bought milk & gas, and got everything put away. Whew!
Hi, Sojo!
My hubby’s had a beard longer than I’ve known him, but never quite that long. He did let it grow out to play John the Baptist once year, and his DL picture from then makes him look like a middle eastern terrorist.
ROM - I’ve always had a beard. When I just let it grow my dad didn’t like it and told me I might be mistaken for a terriorist and shot! :-) One middle eastern woman tried to take my picture while trying to hide behind some bookshelves. About once a week someone would stop me to talk about it
Sojo - Now you can see why I feel like I’ve been ran over?
Give me an hour or so, I should start feeling better. I was glad to be able to get all that done. I’ve not been feeling well for the last month or so, but the last few days have been better. Just a few twinges of headaches, and not as lightheaded as earlier. I did start getting tired at the first Wal-Mart.
Sojo - My hubby has had a beard since he could grow one, with the exception of a year or so. He took a job and asked if the beard would be a problem. The interviewer said no. So, he quit his other job, and then on the first day of the new job was told he had to shave it off. When he said that he was told his beard wouldn’t be a problem, the boss said that was right, because he wouldn’t have a beard. I’m surprised he stuck with that job as long as he did, from the way they treated him. But that was before I knew him.
Hi, bmonk!
I don’t think I remember that, or just vaguely. But it has always been a running joke in our family when someone looks beat, to ask them if they got the tag number.
@Rom, there was the Danny DeVito/Billy Crystal movie and an earlier song
Reminds me of some stories about the German nuns teaching English to the little kinder in some 20th century schools:
“And vat eats de sheep?”
“De grass eats de sheep!”
bmonk - That reminds of some equipment I ran once. It was from Germany and the instructions were translated word for word, not like German to English. Because of the language difference we soon learned to do the opposite of what was written to do what we wanted!
Thanks for the links, bmonk. I am not familiar with German, or Deutsch sentence structure. The ones in KS came over before WW1, so I only knew their descendents.
Hello, ♠Lonewolf♠, Doctor Toon, bmonl Rom, Sojourner & anyone else I may have missed!
I finally have a good day and a good mid-year review, so this is my contribution to the party:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISmgOrhELXs&feature=related
I’m glad to see that everyone got through their day with minimal problems, I hope.
Ladyhawk if you read this, thanks for the info on Vogons. I knew i’d heard that word somewhere but couldn’t remember where. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is one of the first DVDs I bought when I got my player, and I still haven’t seen it all. I keep falling asleep.
Rmom I’m glad you’re fellling better. Not feeling well takes all the fun out of everything.
Hi Grog, Sojourner, bmonk, Lonewolf, and anyone else around. I don’t want to miss anyone
Hello, serena I have a buddy who falls asleep during Indiana Jones in The Raiders of the Lost ARk. I don’t know how you can possibly fall asleep during that movie, unless action puts you to sleep!
I have never fallen asleep during The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy
Grog - I can understand someone closing their eyes during parts of the The Raiders of the Lost Ark, but if they could still hear it, I don’t know how they’d fall asleep.
Rmom, there are plenty of movies I could close my eyes to, but Raiders wouldn’t be one of them. I may close my eyes on a few scenes of Temple of Doom though, but fall alseep? Not a chance!
That wouldn’t be something I would want to brag about, ♠Lonewolf♠ *anyomore than I would brag about Celine Dione.
I might want to brag about Shanaih Twain, The Guess, Who April Wine, Amanda Marshall, Luba, Bryan Adams Sass Jordan or Alanis Morisette, but not BTOverpuke.
Just going through some old papers and found these:
~Next time you think you’re having a bad day recall that~
The average cost of rehabilitating a seal after the Exxon Valdez oil spill was $80,000. At a special ceremony, two of the most expensively saved animals were released back into the wild amid cheers and applause from the onlookers. A minute later they were both eaten by a killer whale.
~Next time you think you’re having a bad day recall that~
A woman came home to find her husband in the kitchen, shaking frantically with what looked like a wire running from his waist towards the electric kettle. Intending to jolt him away from the deadly current, she whacked him with a handy plank of wood by the back door, breaking his arm in two places. Until that moment he had been happily listening to his Walkman.
~Next time you think you’re having a bad day recall that~
Two animal rights protesters were protesting at the cruelty of sending pigs to a slaughterhouse in Bonn. Suddenly the pigs, all two thousand of them, escaped through a broken fence and stampeded, trampling the two hapless protesters to death.
And I’ll leave you with this final one.
~Next time you think you’re having a bad day recall that~
Iraqi terrorist, Khay Rahnajet, didn’t pay enough postage on a letter bomb. It came back with “return to sender” stamped on it. Forgetting it was the bomb, he opened it and was blown to bits.
Here’s hoping you’re having a better day!!
That sounds even better than tossing the computer out the window and watch it splatter into a bazillion pieces from my second story home office that I wish was 30 stories up for this particular experience.
Well, it is not far enough down to toss my computer out the window. The house only has one story, and no cement for that satisfying crashing effect. Yes, a chainsaw. Lot’s of satisfying sparks & flames, possibly an explosion, very loud.
small bone to pick with Grog vis-a-vis Bachman Turner Overweight. although they are far from my favourite band (Canadian or otherwise) they have released some good tunes. i particularly like “Blue Collar” and “Looking Out for Number One” to name two. i agree with you about Celine (but then i don’t like any of those overwrought singers who mistake volume for emotion. Mariah, Whitney, i’m sure there are others i just don’t want to think of right now) and would like to add Loverboy to the list of those we Canadians can hope to forget about. the list you provided includes a lot of my favourites and i’d like to add Rush and Jeff Healey (RIP) to it. i have always liked Amanda Marshall’s voice and Sass Jordan as well. what about Gowan? or Kim Mitchell?
yyyguy, I didn’t mind early Loverboy, particularly Working For the Weekend and Turn Me Loose. Jeff Healey was ok and I’ve got a few Rush Albums, Trooper, Triumph and I’m sure a few others I’m forgetting about at this late hour. I was not too crazy about Gowan though.
I forgot about Alanah Myles, in as much as she may have screwed herself with the media, I did love her music.
never liked Mike Reno’s voice. Trooper is another band i liked, as well as Tiumph. Alannah Myles had a great set of pipes and a very solid first couple of albums. i heard somewhere that she’s singing jazz these days as is Lee Aaron. Then there was all of the metal bands, and Goddo (very under rated) and some of the Q107 homegrown winners like Pursuit of Happiness or Honeymoon Suite. but this is going on too long. LOL
time for me to go, now that i’ve finally caught up on my toons for friday. btw, thanks for the George Thorogood link a page or so back. great tune.
adios!

Well Grog where I work at I cannot have gocomics to many bosses. And company monitors internet use. Now if I need to inform an unwanted company not to mail stuff there is no objection. Yesterday as any other day tedious. I would like elsewhere but not gonna happen.

Hello Kab Sorry you have to work on the weekend. I haven’t been to a fair in years. I wonder if it is more fun when you get to decide what to do there.
kab2rb over 14 years ago
Grog I hear your taking today off. Must need to use vacation time. When I started reading gocomics and shied off from BT as too many posts I read for funniness. Didn’t know arguments would happen.
kab2rb over 14 years ago
Hello Luv8 I wasn’t aware Friday is a weekend, I know it’s before a weekend. I don’t work on Sat’s or Sun. There are things have to be done on Friday’s anyway. That is suppose to be easy day but not.

Will be poping in and out today as I do things. Looks like many are starting a GREAT weekend (early)! Have fun!

Good morning, Sojourner. “Poping?”
————————- I don’t have the day off, Kab, but the day is not as hectic as it has been. Arguments? What arguments? Leg pulling, maybe, but no arguements.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago

Actually, everyone in my family (except my hubby) has a (stuffed) wolf. My hubby knows how much I like them so he brought one home for me and my oldest from a business trip. My hubby on the other hand has a white tiger I bought for him for our first Christmas when we were first dating.

Hello Ran over mom! ♠Lonewolf♠ - Great piece, my beard used to be like theirs - some referred to me as them.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Hi, Sojo! My hubby’s had a beard longer than I’ve known him, but never quite that long. He did let it grow out to play John the Baptist once year, and his DL picture from then makes him look like a middle eastern terrorist.

George Arnold over 14 years ago
ROM - I’ve always had a beard. When I just let it grow my dad didn’t like it and told me I might be mistaken for a terriorist and shot! :-) One middle eastern woman tried to take my picture while trying to hide behind some bookshelves. About once a week someone would stop me to talk about it
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago

Reminds me of some stories about the German nuns teaching English to the little kinder in some 20th century schools: “And vat eats de sheep?” “De grass eats de sheep!”
George Arnold over 14 years ago
bmonk - That reminds of some equipment I ran once. It was from Germany and the instructions were translated word for word, not like German to English. Because of the language difference we soon learned to do the opposite of what was written to do what we wanted!

small bone to pick with Grog vis-a-vis Bachman Turner Overweight. although they are far from my favourite band (Canadian or otherwise) they have released some good tunes. i particularly like “Blue Collar” and “Looking Out for Number One” to name two. i agree with you about Celine (but then i don’t like any of those overwrought singers who mistake volume for emotion. Mariah, Whitney, i’m sure there are others i just don’t want to think of right now) and would like to add Loverboy to the list of those we Canadians can hope to forget about. the list you provided includes a lot of my favourites and i’d like to add Rush and Jeff Healey (RIP) to it. i have always liked Amanda Marshall’s voice and Sass Jordan as well. what about Gowan? or Kim Mitchell?
yyyguy over 14 years ago
to quote the Python boys… “It’s six o’clock and time for the penguin on your television set to explode.”
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
yyyguy, I didn’t mind early Loverboy, particularly Working For the Weekend and Turn Me Loose.

Of course there was also The Lovin Spoonful
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago

yyyguy over 14 years ago
never liked Mike Reno’s voice. LOL
