Good Morning TRIBE, Another day in the sun watching happy people at the jazz fest. Tough job but—
Pop!
Just a quick stop under the BT before church. I saw page 2, then later hit refresh, and the filter popped up again. Lot of toon comment pages were still blocked when I went to bed last night. I’m guessing “potty mouth Rocks” might be the reason.
Kab Saw your note about baking soda. I’ll have to try that if I (or the rest of the family) ever get stung again.
I went to Sam’s and got a large bottle of the generic Benedryl, so I won’t run out of the stuff.
Wichita’s economy isn’t doing well, but I don’t know that it is worse than average for the USA right now. It has always had its ups & downs, because of the strong influence the aircraft industry has on the local economy.
Time to leave!
Poof!
Grog I saw your note, and Rmom my mom went by her dad’s way ages ago with yellow box of baking soda, So far I’ve had to do it twice for a wapse sting.
Now for a spider bite wound going to Dr. for I started to have infection on my thumb. Mom wanted me to use perxide on my thumb that hurt bad.
Grog, it’s July 22nd thru the 25th. You’re right, I think she lives in El Cajon. I used to live in Spring Valley, very close to El Cajon. I worked at an insurance company in San Diego.
Well, in case I don’t get a chance to tell you later, I hope you have a lovely vacation with great weather. I also hope you have a nice visit with your buddy.
I forgot about the new stadium.
My family went to see one of the Thanksgiving games in the old stadium years ago. I couldn’t go because I had to work. Anyway, my brother and sister painted a big sign on a huge sheet. They out it up at the stadium, but it was torn down before the game even started. boo hoo!
Carmy, the first time I got into Texas Stadium, I was living in Montreal. I went down to see a Cowboys - 49ers regular season game. It was a disappointing game to say the least. The boys showed up in body, but I think they left their hearts in Frisco that day.
I’ve also been to Foxboro stadium, the old Cleveland Municipal stadium (second to last home game of the Modell era Browns) and The Superdome.
Hey all before I leave. For the comic-com convention, no I don’t live anywhere near there, but one of the comic strip that is on gocomics will be there I think. One of the comic strip creator talks about going.
Grog I envy you taking a vacation I don’t get one.
I don’t recall ever seeing a pro football game in person.
I did see a U of Texas Longhorn game on a Thanksgiving Day once in Austin. Baseball yes, Busch Stadium in St Louis, the Astrodome, Wrigley Field and I think that’s it.
The only major league baseball stadiums I’ve been to were in Montreal. Jarry Park and The Big Owe (also for Canadian Football). I also went to Ottawa’s Lansdown Park for a CFL game.
I also went to a few minor league baseball games while living in Edmonton.
As for Hockey, I’ve been to the old Forum and the old Boston Gardens.
Just taking a break after lunch before my nap–not like Winkey, heh heh heh–to get ready for a parish picnic tonight. Thought I should check the weather forecast: Chance (20-4-%) of thunderstorms every day and night from tonight through Friday… Temp not so bad, upper 50s thru mid 80s.
Grog, the Kemah Boardwalk. Last time I was in Kemah was before any boardwalk. There were some nice seafood restraunts down there. I remember going to downtown Galveston with Auntie in the summertime when I was sent up there for the summer. It was before they closed off the street(s), made the pedestrian mall and tidied everything up. I remember how most of the stores smelled, that combo of old cloth, old paper and occasionally an in-store diner. When I think about sewing crafts like embroidery and such that’s the smell I imagine.
I’m off to do stuff, primarily beading and kitchen cleaning. I’m rather draggy today, no energy, just wanna crawl back into bed. yawn, who knows, mebbe I will crawl back. Wasn’t the world’s best sleep either.
Johanan, I’ve never had Gelato, but oddly enough I just finished watching a bit on DD&D about a place that makes Gelato - about 130 flavors.
Fellow Baby, though I’ve been to TO a number of times, both on Business and to visit with ex-Montreal friends, I’ve never been to the CN Tower.
Quaby, how long ago was that? Nothing about the Boardwalk suggests that it is new, even though some of it had to be rebuilt as a result of Ike. There are, of course, sea food restaraunts on the Boardwalk. My favorite though is a place called the Top Water Grill in San Leon.
Fellow Baby You must go there!! It is just, well words can’t describe it! And the restaurant is superb! Great place to spend some time. And there’s a great view of the Rogers Centre from the tower. The height deterred me at first, but I would go again in a heartbeat!
Fellow Baby, I don’t get back up home much any more. The last time was 2005 to take care of the arrangements for my Mom’s funeral and take care of the estate.
The truth is I would only go back home in the summer time and can’t really put together enough vacation time in the summer to do all the things I’d want to do when I got back.
It will likely have to wait until I can finally retire.
My guess would be about 92, but all I can tell you was that it was HOT, ♠Lonewolf♠ and this was at 10:30 AM and there was very little sea breeze, too. Now that we’ve got some cloud cover and rain in some areas, it may have actually cooled off some. Accoriding to what my home page says, it’s now 84 in League City but I have my doubt of the accuracy of that.
Thursday our thermometer at the plant read 99 @ 3PM and my home page was only showing 92.
The winters are far less harsh there than most places in Canada, with the possible exception of Vancouver. But I believe it rains too much there for my liking.
Well Grog I may have missed you, but it was almost 40 years ago for Kemah, and the time I was talking about in Galveston was about 1966-67, right around then. I remember Clear Lake city when it stopped at El Dorado Blvd and you could see the Saturn V at NASA without straining from the church at Reseda and Bay Area Blvd. It’s not a church now, the church has relocated. Now it’s all built up practically from Conroe right down to League City and they’re building more beyond that.
Back to beading and Being Human Last season’s finale is on now and I’ll be ready for Season 2 next Saturday.
Good evening everyone. Grog sorry I missed you. Doesn’t parts or most of TX get flooded from hurricans?
Lonewolf not sure where your from but here in KS most parts have hit 100to 102 for heat.
Thursday I was doing evening walking, visited neighbors and before I finished weather started cooling down clouds had rolled in much earlier then started sprinkling. Long before I got in downpoured I got soaked. Couple I visited had an expected surprise their sone was visiting saw a young lady and sadly the young lady was trying to get away from a bad situation. They helped with authorities. She needed medical help.
Did someone want Ice cream though here will become milk? Help yourselves and try to cool down.
After 4 days without AC, tempers seem to be getting short here.I, being a good guy, took it upon myself to clean the basement. Yesterday I volunteered to grocery shop.Tomorrow?
Don’t worry, Ladywolf, I’m a patient man. About the only thing that really upsets me is a blatant abuse of what the Jungian psychologists call Introverted Thinking, a cognitive or thought process.
In other words, put up the gelato when you have the time. Chris Alan can ship you amaretto, French vanilla, Belgian chocolate, and (once we work out negotiations with that place mentioned above) well over a hundred other flavors.
As for Introverted Thinking: Curious? I post every so often from The Personality Page on such things. Interestingly, Wikipedia has detailed pages on Jungian type theory. One of our GoComics posters (now posting under another name) seems to be INTP, a type which has Introverted Thinking as its Dominant cognitive process. Knowing that has made it much easier for me to understand him and to overlook some of his quirks.
By the same token, if you understand what make an ENFP tick overall, you all hopefully can understand and forgive my own peculiarities better. (As it happens, abuses of Introverted Thinking by others constitute what I call “the button that launches the nukes” in the reactions of ENFPs, of which we have several on GoComics.)
Heard some very bad news this morning before heading to church. I like it but have to be very carefull and very so very little to turn it down. The makers of chocolate are raising prices up 100% and shrinking other chocolate product down:(
Thanks for letting me know Lonewolf I guess Chicago is called the windy city like KS gets winds especially more so with storms come.
Ladywolf that’s cooler then we have here.
My daughter and her dad are going to try again for another Golden Retriever. So far someone sold one for KS law under aged and had to go back, need to be with mommy longer, another from KC, MO meet halfway, a male one found out had bad both bath hips need major surgery lots of money owners decided to take back was upset with other vet for not informing them of defect, Monday going 1 1/2 hour away for another male Golden Retriever. No for breeding female cannot be a mommy, they just want a playmate.
The photos I put on PB, I had corrected some of them to be better. As I was in a hurry, I used a free program from Google as it was easy and fast if not really good. However, checking them today it seems the corrections only appear when viewed with the Google program! Later I’ll correct them with a better program and re-upload them when I have time.
Hi, Doc!Terry - Sorry for the delay - the in-laws called. I’m not doing too good today, unless one likes feeling woozy. The finger is still swollen from the wasp sting, although I think it is a wee bit better - I can see some wrinkles now. I was able to have it looked at by an ER doc for free this morning. He goes to the same church, and I’ve known him for years. Guess other than trying to keep it elevated, I’ve done everything except wait for a month or longer. Since that “exam” was in the church foyer, I didn’t mention my other problems to him.
Rmom since you saw an ER Dr. I would have been curious about the baking soda theory. Using water in baking soda for the finger from wasp sting. Is it an old wives tale? Or is there much can be done about wasp sting?
Hi Ladywolf, bye LadywolfTerry - LOL! Actually, quite good. He treated me one other time at the church, about 18-19 years ago. I tried to chop off part of a finger using the church papercutter. He said it was on the verge of needing stitches, but said as long as I kept the bandaid on real tight, I could avoid them. So this isn’t the first time I’ve used his medical expertise.
Good evening everyone, I fought the hot and went for a walk then came back in to cool down. My fingers became very swollen. Next Sat. place where I work at, will be going to county zoo for all employees. My family and I will go early, sad part animals will be sleeping due to heat. Zoo had a lot of new entry’s. Zoo animals are caged up yes but lots of room to move around and fed all time and Dr.
Hi, DFrog!Kab - I just told the doc that I was taking Benedryl, and didn’t ask him about the baking soda. My thought is the baking soda would be good to do in the first hour or so when the puncture still hurts. I doubt it would counteract the allergic reaction I have.
Rmom I just wondered only. You yourself did the right thing. If, when, and I can think of it when I see my own family Dr. I might ask him. I have to go in am for blood work to see if all is okay. I asked a couple of months ago about a different type of cholestrial pill less expensive and I am about to renew another type, plus I have to let nurse know I dropped a different, pills, pills, pills, brother so many changes but not as bad as what my dad went through.
I know of people who like you are allergic to certain and different bug stings not fun.
Good night, Doc!Kab - Just went surfing to see what I could find out about baking soda & wasp stings. It is listed as one of the suggestions to help with the pain, like I thought. At least my allergy isn’t as bad as some people’s, because the sting doesn’t affect my whole body, just the area around the sting site. Although, that area can be fairly large in size.
Since it’s quite tonight I’m going to read for a while and for a change go to bed early. My eyes look it.
Rmom I hope all is going well with the siding, though awful hot for it.
Lonewolf I bid you and LadywolfSojourner a good night. This week chances of storms popping up. I just hope I don’t get caugth like I did last one. My loving hubby came picked me up and I was soaked. It rained hard last Thurs.
Frid. where I worked at saw the clouds forming, thundard but no rain.
Kab - They worked a couple hours on the siding yesterday morning before it got too hot & while they still had shade. Hubby’s talking about taking a week off in September when hopefully it will be cooler, to spend time working on it.
I think I’m heading to bed soon, too.
Good night y’all!

The winters are far less harsh there than most places in Canada, with the possible exception of Vancouver. But I believe it rains too much there for my liking.

Hello, Ladywolf. Always a friendly face in a storm! :^)

Same here Grog. The current temp says 85, but I don’t think so, sir!
I took a shower and now am soaking up the A/C. I need to deliver one car a little later.

Well, I’m going to shut everything down for the day. Catch y’all in the morning & have a good evening.
Quabaculta over 14 years ago

Well Kab now I want some ice cream!

Hello, Kab. South Western suburb of Chicago.
kab2rb over 14 years ago
Enjoy something cold on a very hot day.
Heard some very bad news this morning before heading to church. I like it but have to be very carefull and very so very little to turn it down. The makers of chocolate are raising prices up 100% and shrinking other chocolate product down:(

Thanks for the ice cream, Kab!

COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Let me know when you have them straightened out, Sojo.

Okay ♠Lonewolf♠, It may be a little while. Some of the photos are too dark to see what is there and some are washed out, not seeing much color etc.

Hi, Doc! Terry - Sorry for the delay - the in-laws called.

(((Rmom))). No problem. I was IMing last night and just dozed off in the middle of everything! LOL
I do wish they would have an opening for you sooner. Good to hear that your finger appears to be looking better.

Rmom since you saw an ER Dr. I would have been curious about the baking soda theory. Using water in baking soda for the finger from wasp sting. Is it an old wives tale? Or is there much can be done about wasp sting?
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Hi Ladywolf, bye Ladywolf Terry - LOL!

And a drive by good evening to you Digital Frog. Hello Kab Buch!
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Hi, DFrog! Kab - I just told the doc that I was taking Benedryl, and didn’t ask him about the baking soda. My thought is the baking soda would be good to do in the first hour or so when the puncture still hurts. I doubt it would counteract the allergic reaction I have.
kab2rb over 14 years ago
Rmom I just wondered only. You yourself did the right thing. If, when, and I can think of it when I see my own family Dr. I might ask him. I have to go in am for blood work to see if all is okay. I asked a couple of months ago about a different type of cholestrial pill less expensive and I am about to renew another type, plus I have to let nurse know I dropped a different, pills, pills, pills, brother so many changes but not as bad as what my dad went through. I know of people who like you are allergic to certain and different bug stings not fun.

Good Night, Doc. Have a good one, my friend.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Good night, Doc! Kab - Just went surfing to see what I could find out about baking soda & wasp stings.

Lonewolf I bid you and Ladywolf Sojourner a good night. This week chances of storms popping up. I just hope I don’t get caugth like I did last one. My loving hubby came picked me up and I was soaked. It rained hard last Thurs. Frid. where I worked at saw the clouds forming, thundard but no rain.
