Sojo, this is our first year with the lemon tree. It’s about 5 feet tall, and a dwarf tree in a huge pot. We bought it in April when we went back down to SoCal….It’s got about 8 lemons the size of quarters, and a new set of blossoms just opened, and look like they’ve been pollinated. So, we’ll bring it in for the winter, keep it in a sunny window, and we’ll let you know in the spring. (keeping fingers crossed)
I have a lot of DVDs I’ve been coping to a remote drive over my G Router. Thought it would be quicker to do it direct so I hooked up the drive through a USB port. Now instead of over 2 hours a disk it copies one in less than 15 min.!
Sounds exciting, Montana Lady My sister’s friend in California planted a lemon tree in the 50’s and it has grapefruit size lemons now from a HUGE tree. I don’t think yours will get THAT big, I hope.
SOJO You astound me with all your copying and computer stuff…it sounds so Greek to me but good for you.
RwB - Thanks. When I upgrade my router to the N type I hope it will be fast enough to copy to (I let it run in the background) or maybe I’ll be done by then. As I’m using a laptop in different rooms I hooked my external drive over the wireless so I wouldn’t have to move the drive but it was taking to long to copy. It plays back fine so after I have what I need on it I’ll put it back on my wireless.
RunswBeer..Thanks for the spelling correction (giggle but true)

Does anyone else have a toolbar at the bottom of gocomics (far right side says connect via Meebo…who the heck is that?). I don’t remember downloading a tool, my policy is the tool I have is complicated/confusing enough, I don’t need more of ‘em.
Hi Quaby - It must be part of the GoComics page as it is only on their site. Click the right side arrow to hide it. It must be to make it easier to share thinks from them, I don’t know what Meebo is but they may explain this new function in their help or FAQs. I haven’t checked that yet and don’t want to click on anything I don’t know what it is.
Quaby - In their help,FAQs page checking ‘Take a Tour’ it says this: New Footer – The new footer appears on every page and includes our most popular links. No matter where you go on the new GoComics.com, you’re just one click away from our entire list of comics, making it faster and easier to find the ones you want to read.
Quaby - Meebo, the web platform for IM on any network or site. Meebo connects you to MSN, Yahoo, AOL/AIM, MySpace, Facebook, Google Talk, and many more! You can go to www.meebo.com or google the name to learn more about it.
Hi, tribe!Quaby - Thanks for asking about the footer, and thanks to Sojo to providing the answer. I just downloaded & installed Windows updates last night, and then the footer appeared the next time I got on gocomics, so I was worried I had downloaded something I didn’t really want on my computer.
Sojo - Is your yard protected enough from wind that you need to rake? I remember raking leaves at an elderly neighbor’s house when I was a kid, but I don’t remember ever doing it any other time. The wind seems to scatter them enough that the grass doesn’t get smothered.
Rmom - There is a lot of wind that blows away leaves but there are too many large maple trees in the area that prduce too many leaves for all to be blown away. :-(
Hi, boo-monk!Sojo - Your neighborhood must be one of the pretty ones in the fall. I know there are some tree-lined residential streets in Derby that are absolutely gorgeous a few days of the year when the leaves are in color. We planted maples out here, because we both enjoy the fall colors, but they don’t stay changed long, because once they change, as soon as we get a windy day, the branches are stripped of their leaves.
What do you do with the leaves you rake up?
@Rmom, when we lived near Chicago (lots of leaves) we used to throw them on our garden. Sometimes it was a foot or two thick. Then, the next spring, we’d work them under for mulch.
When we got there, our back yard was clay and cinders. My parents had to spade up a lump, and then hit it with the spade to break it up. After 20 or so years of grass clippings, leaves, kitchen scrap and other composting, the earth was quite rich.
I had an uncle that got ideas and carried them to an extream. He read about using leaves as mulch one year and finding a tree trimming crew in his neighborhood he had them put leaves 4 feet deep in his backyard to help his garden!
Boo-Monk I agree Dusty’s looks are a bit bizzare…reminds me of an alien on Star Trek with one of those outsized, bald domes or something.
SojoWe have fun tearing around on the lawnmower “mulching” leaves…we make rows and then whittle them down and we used to blow a bunch on the garden before the deer, rabbits and raccoons convinced us to support the farmer’s market instead. We do grow some tomatoes among the flowers, though.
I have discovered that living east of people with more trees gives us a LOT MORE leaves… they b-l-o-w to us and get caught in our flowerbeds or in corners etc.
@hopeandjoy, on the plains, we call that sort of “getting from the neighbors” “field rotation”–you get the soil (field) from the neighbor to the west, your neighbor to the east gets your soil …
Alright TRIBE!, I’m in trouble. UCLICK had the audacity to hit my bank for $11-12. OK, somewhere in the recesses of what I call my mind, I remember giving them permission when they conferred the degree of **GENIUS on me. This afternoon I come back to see what words of wit have been left by posters and this big notice is on my screen that I have been stripped of my mental honors. There are bleeeping ads on the page. My name is no longer followed by my honorary title. I gave my money, where are my cookies?
boo-monk - Sorry, I’m not into baseball. My Dad was, and some of my brothers, but I’ve always found it boring to watch. I’m not a good enough athelete to participate without embarrassing myself, either.
Well, this was only a short break while my pie crust dough was chilling…
Hey Big Brother and other hockey fans, Remember my hockey prediction that I made last month for October 7th which was last night. Well what do you think. I was almost accurate. Yes the Blackhawks did lose as I said they would. But I was wrong about the score.
I said that the Av’s would win 3-2
Last night they won 4-3 in overtime. My prediction was so close.
I seem to be having a short attention span recently. Once I am not actively doing something I sometimes forget that I am doing it or I forget to even start.
Hello all, real busy afternoon at work. I am now assisting a different department with a set up packet, I’ll leave this as a mystery, For Columbus day dept is sorta closed buy yet open dept bosses uses Columbus Day for day after Thanksgiving with Friday off.
For pie I would rather have cherry or peach. My mom’s has a tree decades ago used to produce crab apple then went to an apple tree. So we have apples gallore.
Hi Kab - Someone else could probably answer you better. You asked about the video camera on your laptop. I haven’t used one but I think you have to run a program that uses it for it to put anything on the internet. If your worried you could always tape a piece of paper over it. :-)
Hello The Sojourner when the camera comes down I would need to press a button to see myself. What I don’t know if anyone else would see the same, so I try to avoid this.
Do some of you remember me tell about Hawker Beechcraft think about accepting Louisiana’s sweet package move? There is more coming not from me, KS representative is trying to contact Louisiana senator or Governor about illegal use of Federal money. For Hawker Beechcraft is using workers blackmail and throwing a fit, if union doesn’t go our way we will move. Not sure if CEO of Hawker know how much that will costs.
Lewreader, the same thing did happen to me. Just contact GoComics and tell them. I also stated the date that the charge hit my credit card statement. Like you, I lost my account status at the start of the weekend so don’t expect any action until early next week.
I’m chainless til Monday. But I computer is with me, and though my land line will be dead at mid-night, I gave my boss my new smell-phone #. My old one was a Dallas area code.
Just a slow evening to wrap up my last vacation day. I’ve been working on what may be my last jewelry set. I don’t know if I’ll have time to make another before next Saturday.
No ice cream sucks. I tell you, I’d better start shedding pounds like water ‘cause there’s nothing else sweet around here, ice cream was it. Mebbe I’ll make another pudding tomorrow, at least that’s something.
It’s not just the sweets that’ll put on the pounds. I didn’t have to eat sweets to gain weight. Rich foods will do it and it doesn’t have to be deserts. And I haven’t been a desert person since I was a teen-ager. If you really want to lose weight, just lay off the fatty foods and get some exercise. That shed my pounds quicker than most diet plans could do it.
I bought 3 of those big bags of mini-chocolate bars today plus a couple of smaller ones. They’ll likely be gone by 7:30 PM, Halloween night. If there’s any left, I’ll make sure it’s the Reeses Peanut Butter cups and maybe a Kit-Kat or two. But that’s all I will be buying or have bought this year.
You wouldn’t get any at my house, Little Sister. My supply will be gone in no time. They usually come in what seems like bus-loads. Buss load….a trickle for the next 15 29 minutes until the next busload. I often wonder if I’m going to make it past 7. And I buy a lot!
We have the neighborhood trick or treaters here and they are really polite when they come to the door. I have no problem getting some candy for that night. Not a lot though since there are not as many as there used to be some years back.
The first year I moved to League City, I bought a lot of candy because I was living in a family neighborhood. I had a lot left over. The year after I scaled down and ended up shutting down early. Last year I bought a lot and it still seemed like not enough. But then, I am living in an area that’s building up.
LuvChaos, if you were at my house at Halloween, I’d make you dish out the chocolate bars to the little tykes in big agonizing batches. And I’d be watching to make sure that none of it was palmed.
Grog where I live the neighborhood isn’t safe for little kids. We have trouble makers that go around in vehicles throwing things at people. Just last year I was hit in the arm by an egg thrown at me, Not only did I have yoke on me, but my arm where the egg hit swelled up and hurt for a few days.
That is sad, Little Sister. I now understand why, but it’s not atall fair to the kids. There should be a safe party zone that they can be ferried to and be driven home with a little loot.
I’m sorry Little Sisteryou were hurt….what a cowardly thing to do to you. Halloween should be a fun time for all.
Hubby and I dressed up like cats one year and handed out candy…some of the younger kids were’nt real sure what to think of us…The Mom of one little fellow told us he had said before coming up the sidewalk, “Those are sure big cats…I hope they like me.” We have about 60 kids usually.
In a huge apartment complex we have kids. I plan to try to pick up one of the assortments of hard candy. I’d rather give chocolate, but one huge bag of mixed hard candies is the same price as one small bag of the chocolaty stuff.
In Houston we had the Candy Man. He took the giant pixie sticks and put in some type of poison. He was trying to kill his kids, and to ‘cover his tracks’ he had prepared more than the 2 and had given them out. Anyway…..that made a lot of parents very nervous about going door to door, you never know what idiot hears some ‘voice’ telling ‘em to kill the kids. The shopping malls hit on the idea of having trick or treat at the mall. The stores had candies and such for the kids and it was much safer than door to door.

What’s up with this Meebo toolbar or whatever it is down at the bottom?
George Arnold about 14 years ago
See earlier comments. :-)
LittleSister18 about 14 years ago
Actually I only have a little bit of math homework left to do. Which is not a problem at all.
LittleSister18 about 14 years ago
I’ll have that all done by tonight. after the update.
George Arnold about 14 years ago
Little Sister - That’s good, you should have a good fall weekend then!
LittleSister18 about 14 years ago
Yeah! I plan on it.
bmonk about 14 years ago
Hi, Little Sister!
TGIF!(Well, for you, not so much for me…)
Smiley Rmom about 14 years ago
Well, I promised my hubby I’d make a apple pie today. Guess I’d better get to it!
lewisbower about 14 years ago
Alright TRIBE!, I’m in trouble. UCLICK had the audacity to hit my bank for $11-12. OK, somewhere in the recesses of what I call my mind, I remember giving them permission when they conferred the degree of **GENIUS on me. This afternoon I come back to see what words of wit have been left by posters and this big notice is on my screen that I have been stripped of my mental honors. There are bleeeping ads on the page. My name is no longer followed by my honorary title. I gave my money, where are my cookies?
bmonk about 14 years ago
@Rmom, with your username, all that’s left to be all-American is baseball…
bmonk about 14 years ago
Tomorrow would have been John Lennon’s 70th birthday! Woo-hoo!
(Or is that goo-goo-goo-jub?)
LittleSister18 about 14 years ago
Time to pay up again Lewreader Or welcome to our shattered economy.
George Arnold about 14 years ago
Sounds terrible Lewreader - I hope that’s fixed soon. Seeing those ads is not pleasent!
LittleSister18 about 14 years ago
The ads don’t bother me, I’m not even dumb enough to click on them
bmonk about 14 years ago
I have an ad blocker–so those ads that get too obnoxious are soon blocked.

Sir Lew, the same thing happened to Grog. Did you notify the powers that be?
George Arnold about 14 years ago
Hi LuvChaos.
Smiley Rmom about 14 years ago
boo-monk - Sorry, I’m not into baseball.

Hi Little Sister, Rmom and Sojo
I seem to be having a short attention span recently. Once I am not actively doing something I sometimes forget that I am doing it or I forget to even start.
LittleSister18 about 14 years ago
That’s okay Big sister. It happens to us all.

LittleSister18 about 14 years ago
No lunch! not even a snack! Did you at least have anything to drink?
George Arnold about 14 years ago
Good to hear from you Doctor Toon.
♠Lonewolf♠ - That was a long day!
COWBOY7 about 14 years ago
Hi, Lil’ Sister!

Hi Doc Toon and Little Sister
Lonewolf I thought you were too unwell to work so long and hard?
Rmom we’d all eat a sliver of that apple pie too, I bet. Do you season it with lots of cinnamon?
COWBOY7 about 14 years ago
Hi, Hopeandjoy2 & LuvH8!
COWBOY7 about 14 years ago
Hopeandjoy2, I didn’t have much choice. There were things I had to accomplish in order to pay those nasty bills.

George Arnold about 14 years ago
Hi Kab - Someone else could probably answer you better. You asked about the video camera on your laptop. I haven’t used one but I think you have to run a program that uses it for it to put anything on the internet. If your worried you could always tape a piece of paper over it. :-)
kab2rb about 14 years ago
Hello The Sojourner when the camera comes down I would need to press a button to see myself. What I don’t know if anyone else would see the same, so I try to avoid this.
I wish to join with others for saying
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Celeccakab2rb about 14 years ago

Do some of you remember me tell about Hawker Beechcraft think about accepting Louisiana’s sweet package move? There is more coming not from me, KS representative is trying to contact Louisiana senator or Governor about illegal use of Federal money. For Hawker Beechcraft is using workers blackmail and throwing a fit, if union doesn’t go our way we will move. Not sure if CEO of Hawker know how much that will costs.

Good Evening, Tribeandall
Happy Birthday, celicca!!!Lewreader, the same thing did happen to me. Just contact GoComics and tell them. I also stated the date that the charge hit my credit card statement. Like you, I lost my account status at the start of the weekend so don’t expect any action until early next week.

Hello Grog
They let you off your chain?
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
I’m chainless til Monday. But I computer is with me, and though my land line will be dead at mid-night, I gave my boss my new smell-phone #. My old one was a Dallas area code.
Quabaculta about 14 years ago
good evening Tribe
Just a slow evening to wrap up my last vacation day. I’ve been working on what may be my last jewelry set. I don’t know if I’ll have time to make another before next Saturday.
No ice cream sucks. I tell you, I’d better start shedding pounds like water ‘cause there’s nothing else sweet around here, ice cream was it. Mebbe I’ll make another pudding tomorrow, at least that’s something.
Ooops! Premium Member about 14 years ago
I’m sorry Quaby.
I wish I could send you ours. I don’t think it would be edible when it arrived. The mailman might not like the sticky package either.
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
Hi, Quaby
It’s not just the sweets that’ll put on the pounds. I didn’t have to eat sweets to gain weight. Rich foods will do it and it doesn’t have to be deserts. And I haven’t been a desert person since I was a teen-ager. If you really want to lose weight, just lay off the fatty foods and get some exercise. That shed my pounds quicker than most diet plans could do it.
COWBOY7 about 14 years ago
Good Evening Quaby & Grog!

Grog - - - How about your buddy…….. er……….what’s his name on the Vikings?

That is a cute gif of the wolf Big Brother.
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
I bought 3 of those big bags of mini-chocolate bars today plus a couple of smaller ones. They’ll likely be gone by 7:30 PM, Halloween night. If there’s any left, I’ll make sure it’s the Reeses Peanut Butter cups and maybe a Kit-Kat or two. But that’s all I will be buying or have bought this year.
LittleSister18 about 14 years ago
Where I live we don’t get any trick or treaters. That just means more candy for me.
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
My biggest weekness are eggs and porks products, particularly bacon. Then of course there’s shrimp, but I try to stay away from that easier than pork.
Ooops! Premium Member about 14 years ago
I have no Trick or Treaters where I live either, unless I drive them here myself. But we have already started on the candy.
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
You wouldn’t get any at my house, Little Sister. My supply will be gone in no time. They usually come in what seems like bus-loads. Buss load….a trickle for the next 15 29 minutes until the next busload. I often wonder if I’m going to make it past 7. And I buy a lot!
COWBOY7 about 14 years ago
We have the neighborhood trick or treaters here and they are really polite when they come to the door. I have no problem getting some candy for that night. Not a lot though since there are not as many as there used to be some years back.
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
The first year I moved to League City, I bought a lot of candy because I was living in a family neighborhood. I had a lot left over. The year after I scaled down and ended up shutting down early. Last year I bought a lot and it still seemed like not enough. But then, I am living in an area that’s building up.
Ooops! Premium Member about 14 years ago
I got a toy scythe. I could dress up as the grim reaper and go for a walk.
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
LuvChaos, if you were at my house at Halloween, I’d make you dish out the chocolate bars to the little tykes in big agonizing batches. And I’d be watching to make sure that none of it was palmed.
LittleSister18 about 14 years ago
Grog where I live the neighborhood isn’t safe for little kids. We have trouble makers that go around in vehicles throwing things at people. Just last year I was hit in the arm by an egg thrown at me, Not only did I have yoke on me, but my arm where the egg hit swelled up and hurt for a few days.
Ooops! Premium Member about 14 years ago
It is too far between houses and no street lights where I live. I could go freak out other Parental Units?
I know I can be a lawn decoration at my brother’s or my mom’s house.
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
That is sad, Little Sister. I now understand why, but it’s not atall fair to the kids. There should be a safe party zone that they can be ferried to and be driven home with a little loot.
hopeandjoy2 about 14 years ago
Hope your day was filled with fun and laughter.
Smiles are coming to you from Missourihopeandjoy2 about 14 years ago
I’m sorry Little Sisteryou were hurt….what a cowardly thing to do to you. Halloween should be a fun time for all.
Hubby and I dressed up like cats one year and handed out candy…some of the younger kids were’nt real sure what to think of us…The Mom of one little fellow told us he had said before coming up the sidewalk, “Those are sure big cats…I hope they like me.” We have about 60 kids usually.
Quabaculta about 14 years ago
The stores had candies and such for the kids and it was much safer than door to door.
hopeandjoy2 about 14 years ago
We have a downtown parade and stores give out candy but kids still come into neighborhood areas they know.
