Great time at Non-Con. No Killer bunnies, and no scrabble because my usual partner (and store co-owner) got sick and had to go home. I found a group of guys playing the board games and joined in, I can’t remember all the games but they were all fun and I had a really great time.

I ate at Waffle House before coming home. So I’ll snitch a bowl of Ice Cream and do as much of a toon tour before the 5-hour energy wears off and I have to go crash. I will be lurking while I’m up, though.

So good to be back to a typical BT spread. SOJO, I’ll try LONEWOLFS (LONEWEREWOLF’S?) Huevos Rancheros please. Do we still have hot sauce in the BT pantry? Haven’t sen it offered in a while. Ths is one time I agree with Grog. I did part one of Service Project I tried to get an hour in to make up for next Saturday. I mentioned to children’s Pastor and someone else this may be bigger since the Autumn Bash is day before Haloween more kids. Though words needs to get out. I tried to stretch this volunteer fact is candy donated was very short they need 300 pounds of it. Should have 500 sacks only 180.

To the widows/widowers/partnerless (okay, we need a new word for when one of a gay couple dies, what do you call the partner?). We have that hoot of a movie, that one probably making Robert Heinlein roll rapidly in his grave yet still a hoot, StarShip Troopers. Come on, give it up for the bugs, persistent little buggers. And for the socialistic state represented and the groundpounders.

to Quaby: a man who’s spouse has passed is a widower and a woman who’s spouse has passed is a widow. i see no reason to differentiate due to the gender of said spouse. up here, i’ve heard of a lesbian referring to her wife and, more commonly, a gay man referring to his husband so; widow and widower would seem to fit the bill.

Half-time and the Bears are lucky to be ahead given the way the offense played.

The Saints are getting blasted by the Brownies.

hi Little Sister & Grog i watched all my football and baseball yesterday. sorry the Phillies lost as i would have liked to have seen Roy Halladay get to the series, but the Giants getting in is pretty good too. i will, however, be rooting for the Rangers - since they have to be considered underdogs to the Giants pitching.

oh, and my Argos beat the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg yesterday to clinch a playoff spot (not that they’ll beat the Alouettes in the playoffs, nor Hamilton either) for the first time in about a half dozent years.

i, too, am glad to see the last of the ny yankees. the one problem i have with mlb is their lack of competitive balance and refusal to see it as any kind of a problem. it was only a few years ago that there was talk of contracting a couple of teams due to the lack of profitability. some say having more teams involved in playoffs might keep interest longer in more cities, but I think they need to do away with the current situation that has some teams spending more on their 5 starting pitchers than other teams can afford to spend on their entire roster. that said, i’m hoping for a great world series (and i think i’ll be cheering for Texas).

Thanks, GWC! But I just finished eating a few cookies from yesterday. I’ve found they taste best if you keep them in the freezer, so I took out a few, placed them on a small cookie sheet and heated them in the toaster oven. They’re really yummy that way! (I’ve got some homemade apple pie in the fridge, too. There is no shortage of something to eat in this house!)

Sojo - Two of our trees turned yellow a couple of weeks ago, and now they’re bare. I would guess they are probably more exposed out here than yours would be in the city, and that makes mine go through the cycle sooner.

Rmom - The weather needs to get cold a few days to really get the color change going for this tree. Don’t know if it will look good this year or not. I’ve had several people stop by my house to ask what kind of tree it is when it looks good! It’s a red oak but I don’t remember the variety. The leaves turn bright red on a good year. It makes a nice contrast to the yellow leaves of most maple trees around here.

LuvH8 - Of course! That’s a good way to eat food from India. It gives you a variety for your eating experience.

Hi, Lil Sis! It is good to see you again. I guess college is keeping you pretty busy. I got admitted to college Friday, enrollment for next semester starts tomorrow. I’ll probably just take a class a semester, depending on time & funds available. I’m guessing my classes will be pretty easy, as I plan on taking technology classes. I think I’ve stayed up on the current computer technology that I should know, but since I’m self-taught, and haven’t had to use them in a work situation, I figured that was the best area to get my needed college credits in. (I need 24 more credit hours to get a KS substitute teacher certificate.)

LuvH8 - I’ve been working on a secret project today having to learn some new things in the Gimp program. Have figured most of what I need now.

Sojo - I’m not too worried. I just want to get us enrolled earlier than most, because with coordinating my 2 sons’ & my schedule, I want to have as many choices available as possible. The first class I plan on taking is a requirement for my youngest son’s degree, so we will take it together. He’ll take Psychology with his brother, so he will always have a driver. (Doesn’t have his DL yet.) We can share textbooks that way, and save some $. The oldest son has decided the other class he will take is only offered on-line. I took Psychology back in 1980 or 1981 so I don’t need to take it again.

Sojo Just checked on and try googling the words: Red Oak Tree and there are some examples you may recognize. Sofar I can’t learn how to bring this stuff over or I would. That is a task for another day.

Luv - Thanks for the suggestion of shooting pop cans - with the pop still inside. The boys really enjoyed shaking & shooting those. I had hoped shooting the pumpkins would be a real blast, but the first several shots just carved them, instead of blasting them open.

I think I would reconize the name when I see it. I Think it has flameing or something like that in it’s name due to the red being so bright. I’ll try to google types of red oaks to see what there is. I can also call up where I bought it in case the still carry it.

From the pictures SOJOURNER I think it may be the Northern Red Oak with the lovely color which they say is widely adaptable.

Sojo, if you want to keep things on photobucket a secret until you are ready to unveil them or forever just keep those images in a locked file. I do it, all the images that I collect on Fiend now go straight to locked files, and I move them later.

Locking a file is easy, you just elect to lock it and then since it is your account nothing changes for you.

I don’t always look at the pics sent to my email right away anyhow. I usually see them here before I open the email notifications.

I just created a private album and moved it there. Moving it back it should have the same URL.

Although you can’t change seperate times for pics in an animated gif I think I have figured out how to be able to. As I make them I’ll learn more.

If you move a picture from one album to another after you post the pic, it will disappear where it was posted at.

Sojo, What program do you use for making animated pics?

I got the URL where I first uploaded it. I then moved it to the private album. When I move it back it should be the same as it was when it was originaly. I had to upload it several times and post it to see how it looked as I was trying to learn what I was doing.

I am using the free Gimp program. It is a new feature and it could have better selections of what your doing and the help for that isn’t too good yet. It will make anything I’ve seen though.

You can make line drawiings, color them and turn them into gif pics and animate those. That’s how a lot are done. If you want to do that it mentions a couple of free programs that are better for line drawings. That can take a lot to learn. As I have done that before it’s not hard for me. Just using a finger to control everthing though might make it hard.
