Hi, tribe! Wish me well - I’ve got to meet with all my siblings this morning at my sister’s. Then we all meet at the lawyer’s office this afternoon. At least Mom’s pastor will be there too, so I hope that will help! (The trust names my parents’ church as a beneficiary.) Even though I’m the trustee, being the baby of the family means it is hard for my older siblings to let go of their birth order tendancies when we get together.

Oh, hope&joy - If you don’t like to refer to your husband as Hubby, you could go for DH, I’ve seen that as a commonly used internet acronym. Stands for Dear Husband, Darling Husband, or (Mendasock) Husband. See y’all later - I hope!

Sir Lew, it sounds like you are just entering the two hardest days of quitting smoking. Tell the one you love that you love her very much, but it is not rational for her to expect you to be remotely civil in the next two days.

Keep your shoes and coat at the ready for emergency walks. Sometimes exercise helps. Vitamin C actually helps curb cravings so Orange or apple juice is good to have around. Coffee increases cravings but going without that at the same time……. maybe not. Avoid food with strong or intense flavors because they increase cravings. You can look for relatively inexpensive breakables …. they actually have some Good Wills that sell by the pound. You could set up a temporary email account and try to track down Joe, you could tell him about his ancestors. (tries to look innocent while giggling)

Unfortunately, a lot of the shop personnel got used to asking him whenever they had a question before his/their boss got hired, and they still come to my hubby, instead of their boss. At least know he can pretend he doesn’t know, instead of pretending that he does know!

Gma is ……. ummmm….. Did you like the leaves? I will try to find some more pink ones we did actually have some almost as pink as the ones in Sojo’s picture.

Luv - The pink leaves were pretty! My redbud’s blossoms are a lovely lavender, but that happens in the spring. I took some pictures today that I hope are pretty of trees with fall colors. (It was hard to see the LCD screen outside and I haven’t downloaded them yet.) The trees were just down the street from my sister’s house, and quite colorful.

I hope I remember to take pictures next year, I should look for some. I am not sure what kinds of trees and bushes we have that turn pink. I don’t remember it from childhood either. It is unreal and magical at the same time. Especially right after a rain when the sun is shining.

Me too, Sojo, me too! I’ve got lots of photo albums to go through and scan still. I just picked up a couple tubs of them that my sister had stored at her house. I think she’s got a couple more tubs in her basement. But I am so glad to have the legal stuff done, so my siblings will quit acting like sharks out for blood. Now that they’ve got all the money that’s coming to them, they won’t be pressuring me so much. Of course, knowing my siblings (especially my sister) they’ll find something else.

Yeah, now my sister is on my case, telling me I should complain that the cemetery hasn’t got grass growing on Mom’s grave. I think she can complain directly, just as well as I can, so I don’t know why she thinks I need to be the one to do it. I know! - she’s always had staff, and she thinks I’m on hers. But since I’ve paid everything we owe them, the only recourse I could do would be to sue them, and I’ll sneak out there and plant the stupid grass before I do that.

Can’t you just imagine me sneaking in a cemetery with grass seed and a jug of water? Especially since it is just north of WSU. But knowing how much a lawyer costs, that’s how I’d handle it!

True, but that section of town isn’t a place I want to be after dark, if I can help it. Guess I might be able to do it in broad daylight and get away with it, but you just never know. Especially because my parents’ graves are pretty close to Hillside.

Tell her to plant the grass, tell her that the policy is for the most beautiful child to plant the grass so that it eternally keeps the loved one coverd in both beauty and warmth. (crosses fingers while checking for lightening)

Luv - I already suggested that my sister plant the grass. After all, she’s got the green thumb, mine is black. But she’s big on complaining when people don’t do what they should, instead of just forgiving them. I’ve told my hubby & kids that under no circumstances is my sister to be my advocate if I’m in the hospital or anything. She can be a real witch, and I’d rather people didn’t know we’re related when she’s that way.

Luv - I hate doing typos too! I’ve been known to edit a post several times, just to get rid of all the problems I’ve made - not that I’d admit it or anything… trying to look innocent

Well, call once ask nicely about it. If nothing is done within a reasonable period (10 days?) and you want to do it yourself. Just walk right in like you have every right to plant it yourself. If anyone questions you, start crying uncontrollably and tell them how you just couldn’t stand the thought of your mother going through winter uncovered. If you don’t want to do it yourself tell your sister they are being unreasonable and have her make the manager cry.

Luv - I may just play the “losing my memory” card, and conveniently forget that my sister told me about it. Maybe that will buy me enough time for the cemetery to get around to do that. Guess I ought to check about April to see if anything is growing there, and then if it isn’t, I could throw some weeds or something to grow there. Hopefully she won’t visit the grave again until next Memorial Day.

Weeds? Weeds? (laughing uncontrollably) You don’t think that might not upset her more?

Dandelion seeds, if anyone asks you can tell them how your mother loooooved her dandelion wine.

Yes, I think you should forget she told you. For all you know it has already been done. No reason to fret over it. If she was really upset she would take care of it. I suggest waiting until spring, new grass might not make it through the winter anyway.

Luv - LOL! There is not a person that knew my mom who would believe she loved wine - dandelion or not. My mom never drank alcohol. But I figure as windy as KS is, it is hard to keep weeds from growing, and they wouldn’t need watering like grass would. I guess I’ll worry about it next spring - if I remember. Don’t you think some sunflowers would look great?

Evening tribe. Sorry to post and run, but I value the friendship of those here, and the thoughts, prayers, karma, whatever.

My best friends son, and my son’s best friend (same person) is texting my son that he wants to commit suicide. Things are really tense right now…

Now my husbands friend is calling, and we have been worrying about the same from him for the past couple of weeks….

Not sure I’m going to get any sleep tonight.

Ladyhawk, at least he is talking. That is a positive sign, believe it or not. It means that though he does feel that bad, he wants help. He wants to feel better. At the very least though they are going to want to talk to professionals.

    Anyone can call      1-800-SUICIDE      1-800-273-TALK

You don’t have to be ready to kill yourself you can call just to talk or to get advice when you are worried about someone.

    In the meantime my advice:

Listen to what a person is saying, be sure you they understand what they mean, ask questions, rephrase what they said.

Never tell someone what they feel is wrong. Just because you don’t understand or it isn’t logical doesn’t make it wrong.

When talking to the person tell the truth. Don’t pretend to understand, if you don’t. You probably can’t make it all better, so tell them you will be there to help.
