Good morning/evening, Tribeandall……it snowed all day today, and now it’s crystal clear with a very pretty moon to the west! And, it’s 16 degrees……….brrrrrr!
I’m really tired, so I’ll hit the horizontal position, and see all of you in the a.m.
For too long in the BT, I have been salivating like Pavlov’s dog over LONEWOLF’S virtual breakfast. I have solved the problem, I have stocked my fridge with ingredients he will be likely to cook. Ha! Now I can enjoy the culinary wonders of his imagination along with the zero calories of BT breakfast. As long as I cook only what’s on the menu, I can’t grow fat.. To prove this a suggest you get your BS in GoComic Logic and Philosophy. If it’s not funny—-
Now I know some of you may have wondered at why GoComics knighted me Sir Lew, Genius.. Obviously, it was the circumference of my mind and belly the drew (no pun) their attention.
Morning TRIBE! Lack of nicotine and caffeine can do funny things to a man.
It’s been nippy here at night, but no hard freezes in my area yet. The daytime temps haven’t been too bad, although they’re getting to the point where I need to have a jacket.
Doc - I’m more cold-blooded than you are, so I really need a jacket when I’m outside. That’s the part I dislike about cold weather - needing a coat or jacket.
Grog - I’ve been surprised the warmer weather has lasted this long, so it is just a matter of time.
My husband says my blood doesn’t circulate. I know that I need to be warm before I put on a coat & gloves, because if there’s no heat to be trapped inside, I never get warm - just don’t get much colder. Many times I’ve arrived home, and had to soak in a tub of hot water to get warmed up to comfortable again.
Heavy frost update: we got enough to cover the ground, pretty much–but it’s hardly enough to make a good snowball, much less a catapult bomb–so I guess you guys are safe, at least from me.
OTOH, it doesn’t look like melting much today–not with the sky perfectly overcast like it is.
Not even thoughts of snow here. I am still waiting for a nice thunderstorm. We had two wannabes but they didn’t wannabe enough. It requires less than 30 minutes between stuff to be any fun.
Hello Luv Is Trying - Windy and getting colder here (fells like it, overcast and not warm like it’s been). Some sprinkles and heavier rain in the area.
Good afternoon, bmonk, Luv, Sojo, Grog, & NOLAbmonk - As long as I don’t burn my tongue, a mug of hot chocolate made with milk and lots of marshmallows would be great!
Sojo - It just started sprinkling here, and from the looks of the radar, I’ll be driving through rain to get home. You’ll probably get some, but right now, it is just circling around you.
Luv - No severe watches or warnings out around me. West of Wichita there are high wind warnings, but not where I, Sojo or Kab should be.
Rmom, you are all cute and dressed up for Thanksgiving. Soon peoples will be getting ideas like that we should be counting our blessings instead of our troubles.
Ladyhawk, if you are lurking. I hope you are giving your children random hugs and frowns (maybe they will confess to something you didn’t know they did?). Please let us know how you and yours are doing? Luv & Courage to you.
Hi Bmonk, did you see HopeandJoy’s question a few days ago about whether you were in the religious profession? Are you like a high muckity- muck? Because if you are don’t tell, and if you aren’t don’t tell.
No, I must have missed the question. I have professed as a religious–so I suppose that means I’m in the profession. I’m no high muckity-muck. Monks don’t have grades beyond being finally professed, unless you get elected Abbot or something. We do have seniority–but that’s by length of time in profession, so it depends on how many people joined after you–which these days makes for slow advancement.
I added the muckity-muck part. (I am sorry I didn’t make that part clear. I am having trouble picturing HopeandJoy asking anyone if they are a muckity-muck) You follow instructions no better than I.
A very pleasant late afternoon greetings to you all!
Sorry to pop in so late. I have photos of the flowers blooming in my patio, but haven’t taken them out of my camera yet. I have to transfer them to one laptop, then to this one (or else do all the cropping and such on the first, not quite as easy a task).
One of these days, I simply must come up with a permanent alternate breakfast menu, so I can slip it in when others can’t (or are late, or offer things I at least don’t particularly care for).
So… Luv Is No Longer Angelic? Figures. Don’t get discouraged, ducky. :)
As a parting shot, here’s what I looked like as an underweight college junior, way back in the 1979-1980 school year. As far as I’m concerned, I only went downhill from here…
The snow is starting to cause some problems. The Yellowstone web cams are starting to fail. A couple of days ago the window the live cam looks through was covered with ice and snow. It’s now off-line. Old Faithful cam isn’t working. The cam at the top of a mountain is out (was covered in clouds, when you could see all was covered with snow. A couple of nights ago I saw people at a beach in Australia. It was 2:00 in the afternoon there and is spring. I wanted to see what it was like there as I have a cousin living there.
Hi bmonk I have been meaning to ask, ARE you a minister type? It feels as if you are.

I really have to be on my toes around the Big Top or who knows WHAT will happen with LID around to stir things up. Save the Geckos!
While I am thinking about the weather, Luv is Ducky, if you live in Oregon, I thought they didn’t have thunder there but I am not sure WHY I carry that assumption. It doesn’t make sense, but a lot of my assumptions don’t!
Serenasakitty, I cleaned up the cartons. You mean someone has borrowed your MO to throw suspicion off of themself and onto you? Wow!
I will remember, Serenasakitty does not accidently burn the kitchen. She doesn’t cook her ice cream before eating it. Guess I should have thought about that?
@Grog, the X indicates that I am on the borderline between T and F. Most likely, my base type is INFP, but since that is so “unmasculine” (our cultural image for the boss male is ESTJ), and because low affect is “more masculine”, I adapted to get more T…increasing the percentages from about 1% of men to add another category with about 1.5-2% of men…
HopeandJoy, we sometimes get a thunderstorm but nothing really big. Mostly a little grumbling. Oregon weather where I live tends to be moderate. Highs in the 90s are a big deal. Highs above 95 are check on your older relatives and neighbors. Temperatures below 20 at night are rare. We only got two snow days last winter.
About Jungian/Myers-Briggs types from a student of the theory behind them…
The way the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is administered these days strays far from the creators’ intentions. First, it should never be taken without the feedback of an administrator (one reason is that it gets the “core type” right the first time only 70% of the time). If you do so take it, then realize it can be off by 1-3 letters. The relative “strengths” of your preferences for E/I, S/N, T/F, and J/P are meant to be general indications of your preferences at the moment - nothing more. And those can indeed change over time, but that very change can hide your “core type” almost beyond recognition.
Second, in reality (when one is discussing what is really relevant, one’s “core type”) no one is a “borderline” anything. There is a difference - a very, very important one - between developing skill in or even liking for a cognitive process and finding it easy or less easy to use the same process. The one is nurture, the other is nature - apparently inborn.
Third, what really counts is the order of your cognitive processes and what “archetypes” they play in your mind and your relationship to the rest of the world. An INTP is VASTLY DIFFERENT in his mental and emotional construction from an INFP, so there is no such thing as a “borderline state” between them or a change over one’s lifetime between them. Here is a chart illustrating how and why this is so.
What can and does change is the emphasis one places on different aspects of one’s temperament, the interactive styles one uses socially and in leadership and the adaptive types one takes on according to context. But the MBTI isn’t intended to clue you in on how that’s happening and why, and it’s a misuse of the test’s indications of “strengths of preference” to say that it is.
bmonk, from all indications you’ve shown you’re INFP - no way are you an INTP. (By all indications, it was Joe Allen Doty who was an INTP.) Of course ethically you should find this out for yourself, but don’t rely on the MBTI to make that distinction clear to you! It is only a first approximation.
Johanan, you are scaring me. (Just so you know.) Thank you for the additional information.
I do hope that if someone intends to make life changing decisions and stuff they do not do so based entirely upon the results of any personality test. I am definiitely not cut out for leadership myself.
Hi, tribe!Sojo - Thanks for answering my unasked question - are you a mind reader? I didn’t see any snow on my way home, but I noticed the outside temperature was in the high 30’s, so thought once the sun went down, we could get snow.
bmonk - Your virtual offer is accepted! Now I may have to do that in real life. At least now that I’m home, I can soak in a tub. The trailer only has a shower.
I took the quiz and it says I’m an ENTJ. I’ve taken other tests (such as John Trent’s characterizing people as Lions, Golden Retrievers, Beavers & Otters) and know what I am on those, but not familar with this one enough to know if I agree with its conclusions.
So am I, ♠Lonewolf♠ and I ate too. But I also believe in planning ahead. Especially after last year when I was looking all over to find a Tur-Duc-Hen. In Dallas, they seemed to be so much easier to find and get.

Hello Lonewolf,
Maybe you have a burning need to hang Christmas lights?
COWBOY7 about 14 years ago
HopeandJoy - - - Thanks, I plan on resting this evening.

Hi, ♠Lonewolf♠

I took Meyer-Briggs over 25 years ago I believe. Took it again about 6 months ago and there was no change.

Johanan - I checked the site you listed and came up with INTJ which seems to fit.
Ooops! Premium Member about 14 years ago
Johanan, you are scaring me. (Just so you know.) Thank you for the additional information.
I do hope that if someone intends to make life changing decisions and stuff they do not do so based entirely upon the results of any personality test. I am definiitely not cut out for leadership myself.

Hi, Saucy
Are you home for the Bears game tomorrow night, ♠Lonewolf♠?
George Arnold about 14 years ago
Hello Saucy - I bet they can!
Smiley Rmom about 14 years ago
Hi, tribe! Sojo - Thanks for answering my unasked question - are you a mind reader?

COWBOY7 about 14 years ago
Grog, yes I am home and they have it on regular cable here in ChiTown, too.
COWBOY7 about 14 years ago
Grog, both my Tuesday and Thursday pool league teams had byes this week, so I get to be home both days.
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
Lucky for you, ♠Lonewolf♠. You don’t play on Thanksgiving, do you?
COWBOY7 about 14 years ago
No, not on Thanksgiving, Grog.
COWBOY7 about 14 years ago
Speaking of Thanksgiving, are you doing anything special Grog?
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
I’ve got a Tur-Duc-Hen and the Saints/Cowboys game. Life is good.
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
I may do a Cajun Roast Pork & Tortiere for Christmas. I am drooling now.
COWBOY7 about 14 years ago
Grog - - You’re making me hungry and I already ate dinner!
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
So am I, ♠Lonewolf♠ and I ate too. But I also believe in planning ahead. Especially after last year when I was looking all over to find a Tur-Duc-Hen. In Dallas, they seemed to be so much easier to find and get.
COWBOY7 about 14 years ago
I guess Dallas would be the most likely place! :^)

GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
♠Lonewolf♠, John Madden never had any problems getting his hands on Tur-Duc-Hen.
COWBOY7 about 14 years ago
He was in Dallas quite often, Grog.
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
I wonder if they’re as easy to find in San Francisco. I think that’s where he lives now.
COWBOY7 about 14 years ago
I would think he has enough money to have them delivered from anywhere in the country!
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
Quite true, ♠Lonewolf♠. What was I thinking?
Ooops! Premium Member about 14 years ago
Hi HopeandJoy, thank you.
You guys aren’t talking Foo Ball? Are you?
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
Hi, HopeandJoy, somehow I missed your post.
Just briefly, when we were talking about plans, Duckie One. Mostly we’ve been talking food. Didn’t you notice?
COWBOY7 about 14 years ago
She wouldn’t notice it as being food unless we mention Chocolate!
George Arnold about 14 years ago
LOL
GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
Good one, ♠Lonewolf♠, and likely quite true.

GROG Premium Member about 14 years ago
It won’t be on my menu, Duckie One, but I may get a Cheese Cake. I’m not sure I’ll have room for it though after I’ve stuffed myself with Tur-Duc-Hen.
Ooops! Premium Member about 14 years ago
Who ate my Chocolate Cake?
George Arnold about 14 years ago
Luv Is Duckie - Maybe you forgot you did?
Ooops! Premium Member about 14 years ago
