(shakes head and smiles) Oh, and here’s the quote from the tow truck driver: “…I heard cars heading east on Kellogg I looked at them and they were coming fast like they were racing each other before I could move I was hit by a small car. Never slowed down…” Seeing as the driver behind my son put in her statement “…car in front of me slammed on brakes & swerved right.” It is obvious that he was wrong about my son not slowing down.

Be careful of other drivers Rmom.

Runs From Beer, locking my keys in my car is why I developed the habit (or obsession) of having my keys in my hand when I close my car door. Even if I know I just put them in my pocket or bag, I must take them back out and have them in my hand before I will close the door. It kind of drives other people batty though.

Another couple of funny stories about locked-in-car keys:

One priest of the Abbey was stopping at a deanery meeting to dash in and say he couldn’t stay–he’d left the car running, and as he slammed the door shut, he realized it was locked…. He got to stay for the meeting anyway, as his car slowly emptied the gas tank…

I also heard about a locksmith in a major city–New York, I think–who regularly got calls from tourists who’d locked their keys in the car. At 2 a.m. and such. So, he’d get out of bed and drive over to where they were, use his slim-jim to unlock the car in about 15 seconds, and then ask his fee of $50. If they balked, he threw the keys back in the car, locked the door, and headed back home.

Didn’t take time to get everything on my shopping list, or else I forgot to put it on the list, but nothing that can’t wait. The brake idiot light/noise was bothersome for the first 30 minutes of the trip, but was off the rest of the time. There is something making a rubbing noise that I can hear at parking lot speed, so I’m going to insist this weekend that my hubby inspect all 4 wheels to see if he can see anything amiss.

Hope&Joy - I do. I’ve also tried singing quietly along with recorded music. The biggest problem now is that my sons have inherited the lack of musical ability as well (my hubby’s worse than I am, but I’ve never ever heard him sing, even in church.) At least I’ve taught them to appreciate good music - they enjoy classical music, and I’m working on exposing them to other genres.

Rmom - No I missed it. I’m now trying to get a smart phone to access my wireless network. I’m using MAC filtering and have to figure out the password. :-)

Sojo - Good luck with that! Even my geek son hates messing with smart phones. Too bad, because if he liked them, he could probably get a job at Verizon. Someone saw this at Dillons. Obviously, the toy designer wasn’t thinking clearly - or was he/she?

Thanks but I think it was more of an accident. Not really but might as well of been. All day I couldn’t get it to reconize the microSD card after getting the phones switched with my carrier this morning. Finally after powering it off and on it reconized it. That should of been the first thing for me to try for that.

Sojo, you finally turned it off and then turned it back on and then it worked?

I have learned most of Fiend by accident. The destructions weren’t all that detailed. Monkey 2 and I do occassionally teach each other something we have figured out though.

We did figure out how this site does formatting through trial and error. Luckily, it does have “edit comment” and “delete comment” functions…

Sojo/Monk If I have a computer, phone or anything electrical problem, my solution is to turn it off and back on and its is fixed usually!! I need to do this for Duke…game a bit problematic

@HopeandJoy, that is often the best (quickest) way to fix things.

Some time back, I came up with a short list of unapproved repair methods, viz:

Percussive repair: giving a sharp bonk to the machine.

Repetitive repair: try it again. Also: reboot until it works.

Spiritual repair: Saying, “Oh, God, let this work!” while restarting it.

Scatological or Profane repair: as above, using “D@μη it, WORK!” (Or another handy bit of Anglo-Saxon, French or your favorite pithy language.)

I also added two methods of disposal:

    Percussive disabling: Use a sledgehammer.

    Explosive disabling: Use a shotgun.

    Defenestrating disabling: Use the window.

Are there any others out there?

The microSD card problem was fixed by powering off and on. I should of thought of that sooner but didn’t. I had installed the battery then that and then charged the battery. After turning the power on the first time and connecting to the provider I noticed it didn’t see the extra memory. As it had been just powered on I didn’t think of turning it off. I uninstalled it and reinstallled it (which you can do while it is still on supposedly) and it still wouldn’t see it. I went on to other things and latered realized it was stuck on uninstalling it. That’s when I thought of repowering it.

I remember now about OSU. Wild place to play. I graduated from local university but have followed Duke since Coach K arrived and appreciate their program. Just wish Dick Vitale on the broadcast wouldn’t carry on so much…he just praises too much…makes it that much harder on the players. I turn him off!!! (I’m listening to the internet radio and interviews, stats etc.)

I WILL stop this after final stats. *: )

It should be a first choice even if it doesn’t seem to apply to the problem at hand. For some reason it’s not always remembered!
