Comcast had a problem with there internet service in the area. The phones and cable tv were working, but the internet was out from about 8pm until 11:45. Gotta love technology!

Hi, everyone! bmonk - I could find earmuffs & headband combos, but those mess up my hair too much. I just wanted something that I could easily put on & take off for the walks from the car into the buildings. Thankfully, I did finally find what I was looking for, just think those bomber hats look dorky. There are some neat youtube videos to watch this year. When I saw this one, I thought of you.

Burrr! I just checked the weather station closest to me, and it said it got down to 12.2F overnight. It is finally above freezing now.

Rmom, it is 9° in our suburb of Chicago right now and they expect a high of only 20°. I definitely won’t be working out in the driveway.

Sojo - I wish I could! It looks like almost every day this week that I’m going to go out and brave the cold. At least it should start warming up a little later in the week. Not to the comfortable level unfortunately.

Wolfie - I hope you have a heated garage!

Rmom, minimal heat, but at least it is bearable.

We are supposed to have a heat wave by Thursday. All the way up to 35°!

My daughter just saw a report online about the Comcast internet being down last night. It was down in Illinois, Indiana & Michigan. I would imagine they have been catching a lot of abuse.

Wolfie - I guess we realize how much we depend on things like internet, electricity, etc. when it goes out.

Yes, Rmom. That’s the one drawback to the advances in technology. When it goes on the fritz, we are lost without any backup.

Headed out to get some things done. Not looking forward to the cold yet.

Wolfie - I found it interesting reading my mom’s memory journal. One of the questions she was asked was what they did during a power outage. Considering her parents didn’t have electricity until Mom was grown, that was an everyday occurance.

Hi, Hope&Joy! I found some other great clips that made me think of your choir, but I couldn’t decide which one was best.

Hi RmomI will have to check them out. We had a full house. We practice at a community center and then go to a large church to have our concert. Wonderful acoustics and pipe organ as well as a baby grand piano. We have sung with an orchestra at the University but usually confine it to a church with various solo instruments. Also go to nursing homes and just sing simple stuff with them a cappella. Glad it is over but did buy a CD.Thanks for your interest.

Hi, Sojo! I’m being careful with what I wear outdoors. This is when working on cars is not a whole lot of fun. Takes forever for cold thick steel to warm up to the touch!

Stupid Not A Mechanic Question

Couldn’t you let the vehicle run for a few minutes out side before you bring it in? You could throw a thick tarp over it so that the heat from the engine spreads into the rest of the car as it cools? Then in like 30 minutes it might be toasty?

      or

Could you part of the heat from a space heater under the vehicle with a fan in the place you are going to work? Blow Torch? Steam gun cleaner thingy? Hair dryer (and a lot of patience)?

Hello LuvH8 - Years ago in sub-zero morning temps. a high priced car dealer was delivering a car in the moriing. They ran it through a car wash and parked it in front of their showroom outside with the engine running. Of course the doors froze shut. They were outside with hair driers until they could get the door open.

Sojo, would it be really inane of me to ask why they didn’t leave the heater running? Or dry the car?

Hmmm…… Never mind, I have never dealt with sub-zero temperatures.

Now, had they been smart, they might have parked it inside an hour or so until it dried out…

I think it was a case of just being stupid!

I heard during my dinner tonight that Dandy Don has turned out the lights for the last time. The party is definitely over. I never did see him play, but I do remember him in the Monday Night Football broadcast booth.

I’m going to at least try to hang in until the end of the third quarter. If the Patriots have further built on their lead, I will also consider going to bed.

Little Sister, in case you drop in later, the Patriots are leading the Jets 24-3 and just intercepted the Jets in the Red zone a third of the way through the third.

Well Patriots fans are thoroughly enjoying the pasting that their team is giving the Jets. So am I actually. Seems like I endured a lot of bad Jets & Giants regional coverage over the years that I just grew to hate them. Even when they were good they were boring. They didn’t have Sunday Ticket in my area back then. Pity. I would have seen a lot more Cowboy games in their glory days (Before Aikman even).

It’s over. The Patroits have disected the Jets 45-3.
