Hi, Sojo!
Busy day, but at least I got a lot accomplished. Now I need to key in all my receipts and get caught up on the accounting. I can also start “wrapping” gifts. (I don’t use gift wrap, because for my guys, they’d rather I didn’t bother. So, just corregated cardboard boxes, duct tape & a Sharpie are all I need, besides the stuff to keep the gift from shifting around.)
What? I haven’t been there for a while, many of their conversations were too intellectual for me. They were mostly nice though, and would explain if asked. That isn’t what you are talking about? That is too bad, I am sorry to hear it.
Hi, Luv!
Tree? Tree? I quit putting up a tree around the same time as I gave up using wrapping paper. If you can’t beat them, join ‘em!
I got the nativity set out, but that’s going to be the extent of my Christmas decorations. Since it is very rare for us to have visitors, and even people driving by can’t see our front windows (the side of the house faces the road), it would just be extra work for me. Especially since my guys don’t appreciate my decorating efforts. I can think of other things I’d enjoy more.
I did find a two foot black Christmas tree though so that is cool. I miss real Christmas trees. I could have one for free (or three) delivered by relatives but Gma is allergic. (faker?) I had one that my brother told me was the prettiest little ugly tree he ever saw. I put stuffed animals on top of the branches in the bare spots. The challenge was fun.
If anyone has clear skies, the moon is lovely tonight in our crisp 34 degree weather. Sorry you’re having rainLuvH8 We haven’t had rain for 24 days…yikes.
I will be scarce the next few days but thinking of you..”God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Women…”
I got a real tree from a tree farm near here. Picked it out and cut it down. Last time I’ll go there. After a week in my house where it was warmer a lot of bugs came out of the tree and were getting on everything.
A few years earlier I got a good tree free. I was working 3ed shift and heard an ad on the radio. That morning was the day before Christmas and because too many places ordered too many trees they were giving them away.
Hi, Hope&Joy! We had partly cloudy weather today, so not sure what it looks like now. There’s a burn ban for the county Wichita is in, but not mine, however we haven’t had much moisture either. (Less stupid people though, so we don’t have near the problems with accidental fires.) I hope your voice holds out!
I love a real tree, unfortunately, my hubby doesn’t. His Dad has a lot of allergies, so years ago on an After Christmas sale, we bought an artificial tree. He talked me into because he thought his folks might come for Christmas some year. That was about 24 years ago, and they’ve never been here for Christmas.
Before we bought the fake tree, my Dad always cut the top off of one of his evergreen trees. The only year I bought a Christmas tree was when I was still single and lived out of state. It was about a foot high, and in a pot of dirt, with tiny decorations already on it. When I went home for Christmas, I gave it to Dad to plant. At the time my parents owned 40 acres, so there was always room for one more tree.
Luv - That might explain it. My sister’s b-day is today, so we never started decorating for Christmas before the 10th when we were growing up. I can’t get in the mood to do much for Christmas until it is actually December.
LuvH8I am not Leaving, leaving, just scurrying around. We don’t sing again until the 13th for a group of ladies. We will have a smallish ensemble from our chorus.,,from 12-20.
Our lights are on inside and outside…we have one of the dratted “fake” trees, Rmom and I spray cedar scent about and remember other days and times.
Sojo maybe you had the beetles that are killing so many trees in the west.
I found my snowflake window clings! They are nice ones and hopefully no one will notice the missing curtains. I thought I was going to have to cut some out myself!
I might cut out some for the back room, probably black.
Monkey 1’s birthday is Dec. 22 and Monkey 2’s birthday is Dec. 29. When I could I would adjust the decorating for their birthdays. Not having out some of the stuff (Santa ornaments, stockings, etc.) and putting out some more birthday type stuff (ribbons, streamers, balloons, etc).
There you are Lonewolf always good to have you around.
LuvH8 I can see you a lot of celebrations at once…birthdays and Christmas. I have a nephew born on Christmas and it was always a challenge to address both and give the right amount of attention. (sigh) I LOVED those cling snowflakes I lost last winter, I guess. hmmm.
