Yesterday was a cold, wet, rainy day. I did get over to the Dragon to play scrabble. I’m slowly improving. Also had to pick up the Angel Food order in the heavier steady rain yesterday morning. Looks like it’s over until next Saturday.

On the internal news front. I’ll be taking the SSBN Erehwon out on the evening tide. We’ve had no spam and our menu’s been left alone, but just showing a sub bristling with missiles running on nuclear coffee should be enough to keep them away.

Hello HopeandJoy! The station has been down since Wed. and don’t know when it will be back up. They had a major line burn out on the feed to the tower. Something that almost never happens. Crews to climb the tower have arrived despite travel through snow. They also have the new line. Just don’t know how long it will take to repair. Since the weather is good hopefully it won’t be too long.

No–I was looking for the matching clipart–which I have downloaded and saved for this week–on another computer.

@Sojo, I really feel for the line crews and such when there’s a blizzard or ice storm, and they have miles of repairs to make. It’s bad enough when the weather is nice…

I wonder if the Cowboys can hold off the Redskins for the last 50 seconds. The Eagels have made a game of their game, too. Those have been the games I have been watching.

HopeandJoy - They are broadcasting on a sister station sub-channel so I can see a bit of it. It’s low power though and it’s hard to get it. It keeps going out so it’s not worth watching it. From what I can see it looks like the Chiefs are ahead.

Well the Cowboys won -but it was ugly. At one point they were up 30-14 and they won 33-30.

At one point the Giants were leading 24-3 and now its 31-24 with the Eagles on the move.

I knew an expert parachutest that ‘fell’ off the top of a radio tower for a movie years ago. He said it was a lot different than jumping out of a plane. There was no high wind to face when falling and had a big rush of falling. He also had to avoid the support cables to the tower. This was before base jumping was popular.

I thought about it. I knew several people that did and this was after I was flying. One woman on the WSU basketball team had to sign a form that she wouldn’t jump while in college. She had broken her foot on an earlier jump. I think the only reason I didn’t was taking too much time to decide. I had a bad foot and ankle from a motorcycle accident and wasn’t sure I could land without causing a worse problem.

For KS 50 degrees for almost winter time is warm I agree.

For us last year Christmas Eve I had to work part time that day I missed our candlelight service that started at 6pm. It snowed and N and S roads were more snow packed the E and W roads. We need to travel N to go to service and HWY with bridges missed going. This year suppose to be 10 degrees colder but dry I get to go and I’m off 4 hours without pay.

I guess I am done for the evening. See all tomorrow. Another work week minus 1 day.

Oh gosh, I almost forgot!! I’ve been busy making deviled eggs, cleaning kitchen, etc.

The *SS Erehwon sits at dock, crewmen disengaging hoses and securing deck hatches. The vessel’s horn sounds, a series of short and long blasts. It is time for those on shore to return.*

They come back in groups, laughing and chattering. Many have Christmas Cookies in hand, and several have some boxes which were generously given by *The Tribe for the crew.*

Last come the captain, walking proudly as the crew boarded without fuss. They were a good crew, the best crew. Once onboard and in the captain’s chair the checklist began. When it was done the captain said: *And the wonderful Nuclear Coffee? Both kinds onboard? A man turned, the First Officer, Aye aye. Safely onboard, containment systems functioning well. There were some cheers.*

A nod. Head on out. There’s spam to dissuade. The vessel pulled away from the dock, slipping under the water with nary a sound.*
