As much as I like the glyph I’ve been using (the story behind it is interesting and unusual), since I can’t get my WordPress blogs to accept it on all levels as a Gravitar, I’ve thrown up my hands and gone back to the one it does accept on all folder levels: this one. And in the end, even if the source photo is by the NOAA, this avatar represents me as a “global thinker” :) better than anything else I have.

May the weekend go well for you all. I am one of the few here who’s out of the loop with regard to Christmas, but one thing does come to mind: statistically, Christmas is the most dangerous day of the year. Stay safe.

    Good Morning, Tribe and Sundry!

Update on our local fire–two abandoned buildings, and nobody was hurt, but we had three (small town) local fire departments fighting it for six hours or so. The whole town smelled of smoke and burning wood, and a swath had ashes dusted on the snow. Made the local daily paper front page, displacing the “Top ten stories of 2010” from the main banner. Could have been arson–but from what I’ve heard, it doesn’t seem likely.

I’m more worried about our Californians, esp. Lil’ Sis–I hope they can stay dry and mud-free.

Worse: I thought of another thought, which I should have added, and have, to the thought on Carmy.

Falling flakes of frost: cold, made of crystallized water, pretty in moderation or when softly falling, but can get nasty when there’s a wind so they come down sideways, or in depths of an inch or more…

    Good afternoon, tribe.

bmonk I seem to remember reading (can’t remember where, that’s what happens when you read all the time) that “normal” body temperature was intended to be 100° F, but there were some errors on the part of Farenheit resulting in the 98.6 figure.

    Hi, Saucy!

I read that too: 100 was intended to be body temperature–and then when Fahrenheit shifted to use the boiling point of water as a reference mark, the body temperature shifted…

    From Wikipedia:

According to an article Fahrenheit wrote in 1724, he based his scale on two reference points of temperature. The zero point is determined by placing the thermometer in brine: he used a mixture of ice, water, and ammonium chloride, a salt. This is a frigorific mixture, which automatically stabilizes its temperature at 0 °F. (A mixture of ice and water also stabilizes, either freezing or melting at 32 °F though Fahrenheit did not use this point in defining his temperature scale). The second point, 100 degrees, was the level of the liquid in the thermometer when held in the mouth or under the armpit of his wife — subsequent refinements. Fahrenheit noted that, using this scale, water boils at about 212 degrees.

Later, work by other scientists observed that water boils about 180 degrees higher than the freezing point and decided to redefine the degree slightly to make it exactly 180 degrees higher.[6] It is for this reason that normal human body temperature is 98.6 on the revised scale (whereas it was 100 on Fahrenheit’s original scale).[

Hello Humbug normal is 98degree on temps. I too am lower so if my temp heads to 99degrees I am feeling it. 98degrees not so. If you have a head cold I agree 98 can feel like you have a fever. When you are under 100 sometimes can just be virus. I will admit I will go to Dr. if I feel real bad. I then feel like I’m chilling. With me Sinus infections I don’t generally run a fever. 100 plus one needs to stay home cause of be contagious. We are currently getting some type of moisture. 30degree here.

True story: I woke up early one morning, but wasn’t fully aware of what I was doing. I poured orange juice in my cereal and when I took a bite it was the ultimate shocker. I was definitely alert after that.

I also need to set time to read all of Rmom messages since she help me and we email each other. She gets as wordy in a great way as I do very nice lady. And very smart too. I hope they are doing okay and got a big start going to FL with the family. I don’t envy that long drive.

Well How many start up programs do you have running then. I’m no expert at this like some of my friends are, but that might have something to do with it.

I don’t do like my daughter or son has done younger years they would have several programs I don’t. Also I reverse on computer not to have to many. Past instructors would say when more people get on computer slows down. With modern electronics in computers update this should not happen. One time I almost had a serious heart attacke when computer internet acted up and I was working on a timed test.

I break off once in awhile from BT to check other areas on facebook see what news has going with the weather we are currently receiving. Sheriff dept is discouraging travel for other side of ICT in a different county from travel as slick roads are happening. Here traffic looks like going streets look wet but also frozen. and The Sojourner said hours ago his company left due to slick roads.

My computer is old but it runs good. When it slows down at night, then I have to finish up what I’m doing and shut it down. I have since then set a time for it to run and a time for it to be off.

Goodnight The Sojourner I am watching news then shower and I will be turning in. I guess with BT seems same on some things but not giving address out. People with usernames have seem okay. Don;t know people personnel here. Well since roads are tricky one fatally north of a town southeast of ICT.
