Hi, people! We did lose internet for awhile, but not electricity. We do have a wood stove for emergency heat & cooking. I keep some firewood down in the garage to get the fire going. I put some plastic over a stack of firewood outside a year or two, to keep it drier, but I haven’t checked on that lately. There was a layer of glaze ice this morning, but now that we have blue skies, I think most of it has melted off, even though it is only around 26°F.

another cold one today…..24 so far…..

Rmom……..where are you located? (general terms, of course) We use a wood burning stove most of the time. We turn on the heater just to get the chill out first thing, and then the wood stove is so efficient that it takes care of the whole living area.

Hi, bmonk & MontanaLady! I live in KS - within an hour drive of Wichita.

Montana Lady - The house wasn’t designed for a wood-burning stove - we had planned on adding on, and a wood burning fireplace would have been part of that addition. As it is, whenever we use the wood stove, the “Great Area” is hot, but other areas of the house are too cold. Also, the woodbox is so small, that we have to feed it frequently, in order to keep the fire going. I’m glad to have it for emergencies, but even though we have plenty of trees for firewood, this stove just isn’t practical for using when we do have power.

Ooops!!! I slept for almost 13 hours. I tried but I didn’t have enough time to feed & drug Gma and get myself ready and to my appointment. Who would have thought I would suddenly need an alarm to be awake sometime before 11am?

Hello all. I am having a rough time on fragment’s and run-ons. I imformed the instructor, to me the sentence makes sense. I also did the exercise required. Weather is back to normal here. Sunday snow is reported this weekend. Sad part of my job doesn’t require a lot of word usage. I knew this would happen.

I once collated 90 “Perverse Rules” for grammar–rules that break themselves.

They included:

 37. About sentence fragments. Corollary: Complete sentences: important.  38. Don’t use run-on sentences you got to punctuate them they are hard to read.

Hello everyone Kab♥ If the sentences in your recent comment are an example of what you want to do, then, I think you are doing great. I get pretty “sloppy” when I type a lot of the time.

Not much action around here, it seems. Hope you have a good rest and I’m glad Rmom that you kept your electricity. Down to zero here tonight.

Ooops Are you feeling o.k.? When I sleep in long segments, I am usually “coming down” with something or trying to keep from it.

Hello all instead of fragments I fairly good at that I have the worst as bmomk said. I do need help with I am serious all I need is to show 5 if I get a 70% I can move on. the course of mylabwork warned this is very difficult. help for ###run-ons###. I did type up one, but I did so many clicks I won’t pass this one sentence I will have to use a different one. I will Friday am google for more help.

The problem I am having with this run-on the sentence looks okay to me but there are 5 mistakes. For me too many ,’s. I have used those comas as per instruction not hardly working.

I see this has been a slow day today.
