Being a practicing non Catholic, LITTLE SISTER, I remember my childhood friends promising to give up something on Ash Wednesday, the day after Shrove Tuesday (pancake day)/Marte Gras/Fat Tuesday. This occurred 40 days before the first Sunday after the first full moon, after the Vernal Equinox. Seemed rather pagan to this little boy who never knelt in church. At least I didn’t have to wear a funny school uniform. Hope this cleared up your confusion. I’m still confused.

I received topic ideas for essay. I guess I am making to much of this. Instructor gave us an idea. We needed to write 20 suggestions. She gave us a list of ideas and I had no problem with this. Though still editing. 5 per each idea. Little warmer today. Suppose to be 70 Saturday.

Good Morning, Everyone!

At the risk of getting too religious, here are the rules and reasons for Easter (and Lent):

Easter is (in theory) the first Sunday after Passover. Passover is the first full moon after the Vernal Equinox, on March 21, so Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon after March 21. It moves from March 23 to April 26 or so: a little over a month. Easter this year is quite late, on April 24th, since the last full Moon was just before the Equinox on March 19th.

Lent is 40 days of fasting before Easter. Sunday is not a fast day, since we celebrate the risen Jesus that day, so 40 days plus 6 Sundays = 46 days = 6 full weeks plus 4 more days, making it start on Wednesday. Ash Wednesday fell this year on March 9.

Lent Starts on Ash Wednesday, but it ends with the beginning of the Triduum (Three Days Liturgy) on Holy Thursday evening, so it is actually only a little under 44 days, counting Sundays.

I could say more–too much more–but hope that helps clear up some problems without getting too religious.

pseudo - I’m glad you can take a joke. Growing up as the youngest of 5 (3 brothers), I learned quickly how to take a joke, but more importantly, how to dish one out as well. Once I could dish them out, they seemed to quit picking on me as much.

Thanks for asking, Sojo. I think it has a few small leaks, so I have to keep an eye on the fluid levels. I took some leather and made a spacer to keep the rubber hose from the hot metal pipes, and it appears to be doing the job. At least for the time being, nothing expensive or difficult to handle.

It held up going to & from school on Monday. I made my youngest drive for the first 15 miles, as he needs the practice - especially since it is a stick shift.

Sorry for disappearing last night before I answered your question, but I had to do a complete virus scan on my computer. One of those fake Windows virus warnings popped up. From what my geek son & I can figure, since I was smart enough to realize it was possibly a fake, it didn’t have a chance to download anything nasty. But I wanted to do a complete scan by my Norton to just make sure everything was okay. There are WuShock logos where he looks like he’s in a better mood. He ought to be in a real good mood right now. I heard WSU won their basketball game last night in the NIT semi-finals in NYC’s Madison Garden, so they will get to play tomorrow night for the championship.

I know what you mean about the virus warnings…I was scared when I saw one a few years ago and I would check my protection and it said all was well…very alarming and confusing.
