We used to raise rabbits for eating on the farm I grew up on. (1 rabbit = pet, 100+ rabbits=food). Must admit I miss breaded fried rabbit livers.

I had rabbit once; I must say that I prefer Welsh Rarebit—which is not rabbit at all.

I’ve heard that hunted rabbits have a bit more texture, especially jackrabbits. And not so expensive, depending on how good a shot you are.

I remember hearing when my grandparants were young there was a plage of jackrabbits in Oklahoma. The men would ride horses using clubs to kill them and the women would save the meat from just the hind legs.

Hi. Sojo. Yes, it’s too sad how our ancestors devastated the wildlife. Sometimes, in killing the buffalo herds, they took the skins; other times they took just the tongues.

bmonk – The jackrabbit problem was one that needed to be controled. The were over-populated one year and were eating all the wheat, etc.

Yeah, I realize. But then, likely, humans had gotten rid of all the wolves and coyotes—and were not using all that they killed. I really hate waste like that.
